Hot Clash Detection Workflow
Open Existing AutoPIPE Model
Analyze for Gravity, thermal, 2
seismic loadings
Import the AutoPIPE JSM Stress
Model
Reference in Plant Project CAD
Model
Export to JSM (File > Export, Select Load
Combination)
Open i-model Composer
Open i-model in Navigator and
perform Clash Detection
Publish i-model

5 | P a g e
Open AutoPIPE Model Open Model “PIPMALL1A_STR_FINAL_V94_SMALL_Z.DAT”
6 | P a g e
Analyze for Gravity, thermal, 4 seismic loadings Load > Static Analysis Sets
Analyze > Static
7 | P a g e
View Results – max stress = 250% at Point C03
8 | P a g e
View displacement plot for GRT1E2{1} load combination
High DY displacement = -4.286” in at C12F (Possible clash between 2 pipes)
9 | P a g e
Very high displacement of DX = 207.3 in at C02F
Any of the AutoPIPE Load Combinations can be shown displayed on screen and exported to
Bentley Navigator for check Hot Clash detection
Tools > Combinations (Select non-code combinations)
10 | P a g e
Result > Output Report
Check the maximum displacements in X, Y, Z directions as possible areas of clashes
11 | P a g e
To find other segments which give high displacements, select segments and produce a report limited to highlighted points only
Select > Connected Segments, select all groups except segment C
12 | P a g e
13 | P a g e
Export to JSM using (File > Export > JSpace Model (*.jsm)) Hint: If the insulation is displayed on the pipes then insulated deflected pipes will also be
exported for clash detection.
Select ‘Deflected Model Graphics’ and choose load combination for deflected model
14 | P a g e
JSM file is created in same folder as the DAT model file
15 | P a g e
Open i-model Composer
Select main.dgn from AutoPIPE project , User = Examples
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\imodelComposer V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\Examples\AutoPipe\dgn\Main.dgn
16 | P a g e
Import the AutoPIPE JSM Stress Model File > Import > JSpace Model (*.JSM)
Select AutoPIPE JSM Stress model
17 | P a g e
JSM Import Settings dialog
DGN Output Folder
Default folder of the JSM Stress model
Seed file C:\ProgramData\Bentley\imodelComposer
V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\Examples\AutoPipe\seed\seedautopipe.dgn Schema to Use
Select Plant Schema 6.0, From following AutoPIPE program folder C:\Bentley\AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries3\Bentley_Plant.06.00.ecschema.xml
Note: AutoPIPE deflected stress model is to scale

Select the “Self check”
Under Rules, define a new Rule “suppress clashes within the same level” i.e. on same segment
or line number
Click “Process” button
31 | P a g e
Four (4) hard clashes are found
32 | P a g e
33 | P a g e
To Create a Clash Markup Create a markup for clash 4, click on the markup icon
A Markup name “Clash4_Clash1” is created
Or click the Task “Create Clash Markup”
