Absence from School
Submission of Relevant Documents
• Absence from school must be supported by a medical certificate (MC) or letter of excuse from the parent, together with any relevant supporting documents.
• These must be handed in to the FT/Co-FT the very day the student returns to school.
• Max of 3 letters per semester.

number• If absentees are unable to produce the

Frequent/Persistent Absenteeism
• Parental letters will not be accepted and the school will insist the student produce an MC (case by case basis).
• FT/Co-FT will arrange to meet parents for discussion
• If necessary, the FT/Co-FT will involve the Discipline Master or Committee.
Absent during Examinations
• Students are strongly encouraged to sit for the exams.
• Those who are unwell must produce a medical certificate.
• No provisions will be made for students to take supplementary exams if they are absent.
• Students who are absent without a valid reason will be awarded a zero mark.

Pupils who obtain an ‘A’ grade in CCA will be given two bonus points, while those who obtain a ‘B’ or ‘C’ grade will be given one bonus point.

L1R5 Computation
• Those taking HMT will have their L1R5 counted in two ways and the better aggregate will be taken into consideration.
• Students cannot use both HMT and MT grades for computation.
• The L1R5 score must be 20 points or less BEFORE bonus points are computed.
• Bonus points based on CCA and HMT will be capped at 4 points.
• The L1R5 score must be 20 points or less BEFORE bonus points are added if you want to go to J.C.
• Students of the calibre of BPIANS should aim for an L1R5 of 10 or less (before bonus points are deducted)
• Our basic approach is to provide a set of courses in which your child can score well and which will allow your child the widest choice of course at the next level.
• We require your child to qualify for the Triple Science course only as this is the most demanding academic course
• It is important to realise that having more subjects does NOT guarantee getting a better L1R5.
• It is better to take seven subjects and get A s than take nine subjects and score a mixture of A s and B s.
•Students who failed Sec 2 Maths will be
advised not to take Additional Mathematics.
•Students who failed Sec 2 Science will be
advised to take offered Combined Science.
• The school is determined to help every BPIAN to achieve this target.
• We will work with parents to get a win-win situation for every one of you.
