Why do I have to set up the TV tuner?

NoteveryoneneedstousetheTVtuner.Forexample,youmighthaveasettopboxprovidedbyacableorsatellitecompanythatreceivesallofyourchannels.MostofthesesettopboxesuseanHDMI®connection.

WhenyousetupAntennaTV,theTVscansthesignalsonitsantennainputforchannelswithagoodsignal,andaddsthosetothechannellist,skippingdeadchannelsandchannelswithaveryweaksignal.

TheTVwill,however,letyouaddtwoanalogchannels,eveniftheyhavenosignal.Youmightneedtoaddthesechannelsifyouhaveanoldersettopbox,VCR,orgameconsolethatcanonlyoutputasignalonanalogchannel3or4.Thesearetheonlychannelsthatcanbeaddedregardlessofwhethertheyhaveagoodsignal.Typically,you’llonlyneedoneofthesechannels,butbothareprovidedtomakesetupsimpler.Youcanhidetheoneyoudon’twantasexplainedin“EditbroadcastTVchannellineup”onpage48.

How do I set up the TV tuner?

YoucaneasilyrearrangetheorderofthetilesontheHomescreentosuityourviewingpreferences.Forexample,youmightwantAntennaTVtobethefirsttileinyourHomescreen.Butifyoumostlywatchonestreamingchannel,youmightwantitstiletobethefirstoneonyourHomescreen.

Toeditthechannellineup,fromtheHomescreen,navigatetoSettings>TVinputs>AntennaTV>Editchannellineup.You’llseeascreenlistingallofyourchannels.AdjacenttothelistofchannelsisaminiatureTVscreenplayingthehighlightedchannel’spictureandsound.

Highlighteachchannelyouwanttohide,andthenpressOKtohidethechannel.

Toconfigureautomaticpoweroff,fromtheHomescreenmenunavigatetoSettings>System>Power>Autopoweroff.InthePowersettingsscreen,highlightthefollowingoptionsandpressOKtoturnthemonoroff:

Configure parental controls

Creating a parental control PIN

ThefirsttimeyouaccesstheParentalcontrolsscreen,youmustcreateanewparentalcontrolPIN.Thereafter,wheneveryouwanttochangeparentalcontrolsettings,unblockprogrammingthathasbeenblocked,changethePIN,ordisableparentalcontrols,youmustenteryourparentalcontrolPIN.

Tip:YourparentalcontrolPINhasnothingtodowithyourRokuPIN.Youcanmakethemthesameifyouwant—thisisentirelyyourchoice.

OneoftheparentalcontroloptionsistocompletelyhidetheentertainmentoptionsthatareavailabledirectlyontheHomescreenmenuofRokuTVsmanufacturedforsaleintheUnitedStates.(TheMovieStore,TVStore,andNewsoptionsarenotavailableonRokuTVsmanufacturedforsaleinCanada).

TohideHomescreenentertainmentoptions:

Enabling parental control of TV shows

ThefirststepinblockingTVshowsistoenableparentalcontrolofTVshows.

ThissettingisprovidedseparatelytomakeiteasierforyoutoturnparentalcontrolofTVshowsonandoffwithoutdisturbingtheirsettings.Forexample,yourkidsaregoingtosummercampfortwoweeks,andwhiletheyaregone,youdon’twanttohavetodealwithunblockingshowsthatyouwanttowatchbyenteringyourPIN.AllyouneedtodoisclearEnableparentalcontrols,andallTVshowsareunblocked.Whenthekidsreturn,selectEnableparentalcontrolsagain,andallofyourparentalcontrolsettingsarerestoredinasingleoperation.

• Youthgroup–TV-Y,TV-Y7• Maingroup–TV-G,TV-PG,TV-14,TV-MA

Withineachofthesegroups,theratingsinteractsuchthatifyoublockaparticularlevelofcontent,theTValsoblocksallcontentwithahigherrating.Conversely,ifyouunblockaparticularlevelofcontent,theTValsounblocksallcontentwithalowerrating.Forexample,ifyoublockTV-PGprograms,theTValsoblocksTV-14andTV-MAprograms.IfyousubsequentlyunblockTV-14programs,TV-PGprogramsarealsounblocked,butTV-MAprogramsremainblocked.

Similarly,withinthemaingroup,contenttypescanbeindividuallyblocked.Forexample,youcanblockjustcoarselanguageinshowswithaTV-PGrating.Ifyoudo,thentheTValsoblocksshowswithcoarselanguageinthehigherratings(TV-14andTV-MA).SubsequentlyunblockingcoarselanguageinTV-14ratingsdoesnotunblockcoarselanguageinTV-MAprograms,butitdoesunblockcoarselanguageinTV-PGprograms.

WhentheTVdownloadsanewRatingRegionTable,itaddsanewoptiontothelistofratingtypes:Otherratings.IfyouseethisoptionintheParentalcontrolsscreen,youhavetunedtoastationthathasimplementedanewratingtable.OncethenewratingtablehasbeendownloadedtotheTV,itremainsintheTVuntilitisfactoryreset,andyoucanconfigureblockingbasedonthenewratings.

Toblockallunratedbroadcasts:

Tip:Blockingprogramsthathavebeenassignedaratingof“Unrated”doesnotblockprogramsthathavenoratingassignedtothem(forexampleabroadcastofalocaltowncouncilmeeting).ProgramsthatdonothaveanassignedratingdisplayRatingNA(for“notapplicable,meaningaratingisnotneeded).Programsthathavenoassignedratingareconsidered“safe”;therefore,thereisnoneedtoblockthem.

What happens when a TV show is blocked?

Afteryou’vesetupparentalcontrols,TVshowsandmoviescanbeblocked:

• Whenyouchangechannelsandthenewchannelisplayingaprogramwhoseratingexceedsyoursettings.

• Whenanewshowcomesonthechannelyouarewatchinganditsratingexceedsyoursettings.

Whenaprogramisblockedbyparentalcontrolsettings,theTVdisplaysablockedmessage:

Wheneverthisblockedmessageappears,boththevideoandaudiooftheshowareblocked,aswellasprogramdatathatwouldnormallyappearintheareaatthebottomofthescreen.

Scanning for broadcast TV channels again

Therewillbetimeswhenyouneedtocreateanewchannellist.Forexample,you:

WheneveryouneedtoupdateyourTVchannellist,youcanrepeatthechannelscan.

Tip:Repeatthechannelscanfromtimetotimetomakesureyouarereceivingallofthelatestchannels.Broadcastersaddandremovechannels,movechannelstodifferentpartsofthespectrum,andchangethepowerlevelsoftheirchannelsperiodically.

Purpose and Scope of Agreement

ThisTCL•RokuTVEndUserAgreement(“Agreement”)isthelegalagreementbetweenyou(“You”),ontheonehand,andRoku,Inc.(“Roku”)andTCL(“TCL”)(“TCL”ontheotherhand(RokuandTCLcollectivelyreferredtoas“We”,“Us”or“Our”),governingYouruseof:(i)thefirmwareandsoftwarethatWehavepre-installedonthetelevisionthatYouhavepurchasedwhichusestheRokuplatformtoplaydigitalcontentdistributedovertheInternet(“Television”),andthefirmwareandsoftwareupdatesRokumakesavailablefortheTelevision(suchfirmware,softwareandupdates,collectively,the“Software”);(ii)theRokuChannelStorethatisaccessibleviatheTelevision’son-screenmenu(“ChannelStore”);and(iii)ifdownloadedbyYoutoamobiledevice,anyRokumobileapplicationandupdatesthereto(collectively,“MobileApp”).Byestablishinganaccountatowner.roku.com(a“RokuAccount”),usingtheTelevision,and/ordownloadingorusingaMobileApp,YouareagreeingtobeboundbythetermsandconditionsofthisAgreement.IfYoudonotagreetothesetermsandconditions,YouarenotgrantedanyrighttousetheSoftwareoranyMobileAppsortherighttoaccesstheChannelStore.IfYoudonotagreetothesetermsandconditionsandYouarewithintheallowabletimeperiodforreturnsundertheapplicablereturnpolicy,YoumayreturntheTelevisiontotheplacewhereYouobtaineditforarefund,inaccordancewiththetermsofsuchreturnpolicy.IfYoudonotagreetothesetermsandconditions,YoushouldnotdownloadanyMobileApp.IfYouhavedownloadedanyMobileAppandYoudonotagreetothesetermsandconditions,Youshouldimmediatelydeleteit.

ForpurposesofthisAgreement,“Channel”meansanyapplicationthatmaybeavailablefromtimetotimeintheChannelStore,includingwithoutlimitation,applicationstoaccess,displayorplayvideo,audio,photos,games,textorgraphics;“Content”meansvideo,audio,photos,

games,text,graphicsandotheraudioorvisualmaterials;and“ContentProvider”meansanythirdpartywhoprovidesvideo,audio,photo,games,text,graphicsorotheraudioorvisualmaterialsthatareaccessibleviatheChannelStoreandtheTelevision.

Changes to This Agreement

RokureservestherighttoamendthisAgreementatanytime,inwholeorinpart,initssolediscretion.SuchamendmentsshallbeeffectiveimmediatelyuponpostingoftheamendedAgreementonRoku’swebsiteatwww.roku.com,viatheTelevision,orwithinanyMobileApp.Initssoleoption,RokumayalsonotifyYouoftheamendedAgreementbysendinganoticetothelastemailaddressYouhaveprovidedtoRoku.YouagreetoprovideaccurateandcompleteinformationwhenYouestablishYourRokuAccount,andYouagreetopromptlyupdateYouraccountinformation(includingcontactinformation)tokeepitaccurateandcomplete.FollowingthepostingoftheamendedAgreementbyanyofthemethodsdescribedabove,continueduseofYourTelevisionoranyMobileApp,orcontinuedaccesstoYourRokuAccount,constitutesYourexpressagreementtobeboundbythetermsandconditionsoftheamendedAgreement.Youunderstandthat,ifYoudonotagreetothetermsandconditionsoftheamendedAgreement,RokumayterminateYourrighttousetheSoftwareandanyMobileApp,limitYouraccesstoYourRokuAccountandtheChannelStore,and/orceasetheprovisionofupdates,upgradesorenhancementstoYourTelevision.

Personal, Non-Commercial Use Only; Copying and Redistribution Prohibited; No Rights Except as Expressly Granted

TheSoftware,theChannelStoreandtheMobileAppsareintendedforpersonal,non-commercialuseonly.Youmaynotusethemforanycommercialorillegalpurpose.CopyingorredistributionoftheSoftware,anyMobileApp,orofanyContentdeliveredviatheSoftwareintheTelevisionisstrictlyprohibited.YoumaynotusetheTelevisiontoaccessorattempttoaccessanyContentoutsideofthecountryorlocationauthorizedbyRokuorthethirdpartywhoprovidedsuchContent.ExceptasexpresslyprovidedunderthisAgreement,YoudonotacquireanyintellectualpropertyorotherproprietaryrightsinortotheSoftware,theChannelStore,theMobileAppsortheContent,includingwithoutlimitation,anyrightsinpatents,inventions,improvements,designs,trademarks,orcopyrights,nordoYouacquireanyrightsinanyconfidentialinformationortrade-secrets.AllrightsnotexpresslygrantedtoYouinthisAgreementarereservedbyRokuorOurrespectivethirdpartylicensors.Youmaynotremoveoralteranytrademark,logo,copyrightorotherproprietarynoticeinoronanyTelevision,Software,ContentorMobileApp.

Software Licenses

Software License

TheSoftwareisproprietarytoRokuorOurrespectivethirdpartylicensorsandmaybeusedonlywiththeTelevision.SubjecttothetermsofthisAgreementandwhereappropriate,theapplicablethirdpartylicenses,WegrantYouanon-exclusive,non-transferablelicensetoruntheSoftwareandanyupdatedversionsprovidedtoYoubyRoku,onlyinandasincorporatedintheTelevision.Thisisalicenseandnotasale.Youmaynot(i)copy,sublicense,lease,sellorrenttheSoftware,(ii)distributeorotherwisetransfertheSoftwaretoanythirdpartyexceptasincorporatedintheTelevision,providedthat,YoudonotretainanycopiesoftheSoftwareandtherecipientoftheSoftwarereadsandagreestoacceptthetermsandconditionsofthisAgreement(includingallamendments);(iii)modify,adapt,alter,translate,orcreatederivativeworksoftheSoftware;(iv)decompile,disassemble,reverseengineerorotherwisederiveorattempttoderivesourcecodefromtheSoftware;(v)defeat,bypass,circumventorinterferewithanysecuritymechanismoraccesscontrolmeasures,or(vi)haveanyoftheforegoingdoneforYoubyathirdparty.Thislicensedoesnotgrantanyrightstoobtainingfutureupgrades,updatesorsupplementstoanySoftware.

Software Updates

ROKU RESERVES THE RIGHT TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE FROM TIME TO TIME IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, INCLUDING ADDING, CHANGING OR REMOVING FUNCTIONALITIES AND FEATURES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CHANGING THE USER INTERFACE OR THE MANNER IN WHICH YOU ARE ABLE TO ACCESS CONTENT VIA THE TELEVISION.

NotwithstandingtheotherprovisionsofthisAgreement,certaincomponentsoftheSoftware,knownas“free”or“opensource”softwarecode(“SeparatelyLicensedCode”),aresubjecttoseparatelicensetermsandarenotsubjecttothelicensegrantedabove.AsrequiredbythetermsoftherelevantSeparatelyLicensedCodelicenses,RokumakestheSeparatelyLicensedCode,andRoku’smodificationstoit,availableonRoku’swebsiteatnocharge.Pleasevisitwww.roku.com/opensourcefordetailedinformationontheuseofSeparatelyLicensedCode.

Fees and Charges

One-TimeFeeProgramming.ForPublicChannels,YouraccountwillbechargedinfullwhenYouconfirmYourpurchaseofaccesstotheChannel.ForPrivateChannels,YouwillbechargedaftertheChannelappearsasanoptioninYourChannelline-upandafterYouhaveconfirmedYourpurchaseofaccesstotheChannel.FortheContentandservicespurchasedfromwithinanyPublicChannelorPrivateChannel,YouraccountwillbechargedinfullwhenYouconfirmthepurchase.

TheMobileAppsarelicensed,notsold,toYouforuseonlyunderthetermsofthisAgreement.Roku,asthelicensor,reservesallrightsnotexpresslygrantedtoYou.ThislicensegrantedtoYoubyRokufortheMobileAppsislimitedtoanon-exclusive,non-transferablelicensetousetheMobileAppsforpersonalandnon-commercialpurposessolelyonanymobiledevicethatYouownorcontrolandaspermittedbytheusagerulessetforthinanyapplicationstoretermsandconditionsandonlywithinthecountryorlocationauthorizedbyRoku.Thislicensedoesnotgrantanyrightstoobtainingfutureupgrades,updatesorsupplementstoanyMobileApp.

Usage Rules

YoumaynotcommercializetheMobileAppsinanyway.Youwillnot,andYouwillnotallowanypersonto,copysublicense,lease,sellorrenttheMobileAppsoranypartthereof,toanalyzeitbymeansofreverseengineering,todecompile,disassemble,attempttoderivethesource

codeof,modify,orcreatederivativeworksoftheMobileApps,orofanyupdatestheretooranypartthereof(exceptasandonlytotheextentanyforegoingrestrictionisprohibitedbyapplicablelawortotheextentasmaybepermittedbythelicensingtermsgoverninguseofanySeparatelyLicensedCodeincludedwithaMobileApp).AnyattempttodosoisaviolationoftherightsofRokuanditslicensors.IfYoubreachthisrestriction,Youmaybesubjecttoprosecutionanddamages.ThetermsofthislicensewillgovernanyupgradesprovidedbyRokutoaMobileApp,unlesssuchupgradeisaccompaniedbyaseparatelicenseinwhichcasethetermsofthatlicensewillgovern.

YouagreethatRokuorathirdpartycontractedbyRoku,maycollectandusetechnicalandusagedataandrelatedinformation,includingbutnotlimitedto,informationaboutYourdevice,systemandsoftware,peripheralsandMobileAppusagethatisgatheredperiodicallytofacilitatetheprovisionofupdates,productsupportandotherservices(ifany)toYourelatedtotheMobileApp.RokumayusethisandotherinformationitcollectsaboutYouasdescribedinitsPrivacyPolicy,availableatwww.roku.com/about/privacy.

Export Controls YouagreenottodownloadanyContent,MobileApp,orSoftware,norotherwiseexportorre-exporttheTelevisionorMobileAppsortheSoftwareinto(ortoanationalorresidentof)Cuba,Iraq,Libya,NorthKorea,Iran,SyriaoranyothercountryastowhichtheUnitedStateshasembargoedgoods,ortoanyoneontheU.S.TreasuryDepartment'sListofSpeciallyDesignatedNationalsortheU.S.CommerceDepartment'sTableofDenialOrders.ByusingtheTelevision,theChannelStore,theSoftwareortheMobileApps,YouarerepresentingandwarrantingthatYouarenotlocatedin,underthecontrolof,oranationalorresidentofanysuchcountryoronanysuchlist.

Dispute Resolution by Binding Arbitration, with Class Action Waiver and Choice of Law 1. YouandRokuagreetobeboundbytheproceduressetforthbelowtoresolveanyandallclaimsarisingoutoforrelatingtoany

aspectoftherelationshipbetweenYouandRoku,whetherbasedincontract,statute,tort,fraud,misrepresentationoranyotherlegaltheory,includingbutnotlimitedto,claimsrelatingtothisAgreement,itsformation,enforceability,performanceorbreach,andclaimsrelatedtoadvertising,theSoftware,theTelevision,theChannelStoreortheMobileApps(asapplicable).Eachsuchclaimisreferredtoindividuallyas“Claim”andcollectivelyas“Claims”.

YOUANDROKUAGREETHAT,EXCEPTFORTHECLAIMSIDENTIFIEDINPARAGRAPH4BELOW,ANYANDALLCLAIMSBETWEENYOUANDROKUSHALLBEFINALLYSETTLEDBYBINDINGARBITRATION.ThearbitrationshalltakeplaceinSantaClaraCounty,California,andshallbeadministeredbytheAmericanArbitrationAssociation(“AAA”)pursuanttotheAAA’sthen-currentrules,including(ifapplicable)theAAA’sSupplementaryProceduresforConsumer-RelatedDisputes.Pleasebeawarethereisnojudgeorjuryinarbitration.Arbitrationproceduresaresimplerandmorelimitedthantherulesapplicableincourt,andreviewofthearbitrator’sdecisionbyacourtislimited.YOUANDROKUFURTHERAGREETHATEACHMAYBRINGCLAIMSAGAINSTTHEOTHERONLYONANINDIVIDUALBASISANDNOTASAPLAINTIFFORCLASSMEMBERINANYPURPORTEDCLASSORREPRESENTATIVEACTIONORPROCEEDING.THEARBITRATORMAYNOTCONSOLIDATEORJOINMORETHANONEPERSON’SCLAIMANDMAYNOTPRESIDEOVERANYCONSOLIDATED,REPRESENTATIVEORCLASSPROCEEDING.ALSO,THEARBITRATORMAYAWARDRELIEF(INCLUDINGMONETARY,INJUNCTIVEORDECLARATORYRELIEF)ONLYONANINDIVIDUALBASISANDMAYNOTAWARDANYFORMOFCONSOLIDATED,REPRESENTATIVEORCLASS-WIDERELIEF.Notwithstandinganyprovisioninthesetermstothecontrary,iftheclass-actionwaiverinthisprovisionisdeemedinvalidorunenforceable,orifanarbitrationofaClaimbetweenYouandRokuisallowedtoproceedonaclassbasis,thenneitherYounorRokuareentitledtoarbitratesuchClaim.ThisarbitrationprovisionissubjecttotheFederalArbitrationAct.Thearbitrator’sawardshallbebindingonYouandRoku,andmaybeenteredinanycourtofcompetentjurisdiction.

InformationonAAAandhowarbitrationisinitiatedcanbefoundatwww.adr.orgorbycalling800-778-7879.ForClaimsbetweenYouandRokuof$75,000orless,Youwillberesponsiblefortheinitialarbitrationfilingfee,uptotheamountoftheinitialfilingfeeifYouweretoinitiatealawsuitagainstRokubasedonsuchClaimsincourt.IfthearbitratorfindssuchClaimstobenon-frivolous,Rokuwillpayanydifferenceinsuchfilingfeesplusthearbitratorfees.ForClaimsbetweenYouandRokuinexcessof$75,000,ifYouareabletodemonstratethatthecostsofarbitrationwillbeprohibitiveascomparedtothecostsoflitigation,RokuwillpayasmuchofYouractualfilingfeesandthearbitratorfeesforthearbitrationasthearbitratordeemsnecessarytopreventthearbitrationfrombeingcost-prohibitiveascomparedtothecostoflitigation.

4. ThisagreementtoarbitratedoesnotapplytoanyClaim(i)inwhichapartyisattemptingtoprotectitsintellectualpropertyrights(suchasitspatent,copyright,trademark,tradesecret,ormoralrights,butnotincludingitsprivacyorpublicityrights),or(ii)thatmaybebroughtinsmall-claimscourt.

5. IftheagreementbetweenYouandRokutoarbitrateinthisprovisionisfoundtobeinvalid,unenforceableorinapplicabletoagivenClaimbetweenYouandRoku,thenanyandallproceedingstoresolvesuchClaimmustbebroughtexclusivelyinafederalcourtofcompetentjurisdictionintheNorthernDistrictofCaliforniaorinastatecourtinSantaClaraCounty,California.Youherebyirrevocablyconsenttotheexclusivejurisdictionandvenueofsuchcourts.

6. 30-DayRighttoOptOut:YouhavetherighttooptoutofthisagreementtoarbitratebysendingawrittennoticeofYourdecisiontooptouttothefollowingaddress:LegalDepartment,RokuInc.,12980SaratogaAvenue,SuiteD.,Saratoga,California95070;providedthat,suchnoticeshallbepostmarkedonorbeforethe30thdayafterthefirsttooccurofthefollowingevents:(i)thepurchaseofYourTelevision,(ii)YourreceiptoftheTelevision,(iii)theestablishmentofanewRokuAccountifYoudonotalreadyhaveaRokuAccountpriortousingYourTelevision,(iv)usingoraccessingtheChannelStore,or(v)using,accessingordownloading

theSoftwareoranyMobileApp.YournoticeshouldincludeYourfullname,Yourcurrentpostaladdress,telephonenumberandemailaddress,theproductnameandserialnumberforYourTelevision,andacopyoftheoriginalproofofpurchaseforYourTelevision.IfYoutimelysendanoticeincompliancewiththisparagraph6,theagreementtoarbitratewillnotapplytoeitherYouorRoku.IfYoudonottimelysendthisnotice,thenYouagreetobeboundbythisagreementtoarbitrate.

7. NotwithstandinganyprovisioninthisAgreementtothecontrary,Youagreethat,ifRokuseekstodeleteormateriallymodifytheagreementtoarbitratedescribedherein,anysuchdeletionormodificationwillnotapplytoanyindividualClaimbetweenYouandRoku,ofwhichYouhavenotifiedRokupriortosuchmodification.

Choice of Law ThisAgreementshallbegovernedbythelawsoftheStateofCalifornia,asifenteredintobyresidentsofCalifornia,withoutgivingeffecttoanyconflictoflawsprinciplesthatmayprovidetheapplicationofthelawofanotherjurisdiction.

Miscellaneous ThisAgreementisthefinal,completeandexclusiveagreementbetweenYou,ontheonehand,andRokuandTCL,ontheotherhand,relatingtotheTelevision,theChannelStore,theSoftwareandtheMobileApps(asapplicable),andsupersedesallpriororcontemporaneousproposals,advertisements,representations,understandings,oragreementsrelatingthereto,whetheroralorwritten;providedthat,notwithstandingtheforegoing,thisAgreementisnotintendedtomodifyorsupersedetheImportantProductInformationGuideandotherdocumentationprovidedtoYouwiththeTelevision.NowaiverormodificationofthisAgreementwillbevalidunlesssignedbyRoku,TCLandYou.YourrighttousetheTelevision,theSoftware,theChannelStore,YourRokuAccount,theSoftware,ortheMobileApps(asapplicable)willimmediatelyterminateuponYourbreachofanyapplicableprovisionofthisAgreement.Thewaiverofabreachofanytermhereofwillinnowaybeconstruedasawaiverofanyothertermorbreachhereof.IfanyprovisionofthisAgreementisheldbyacourtofcompetentjurisdictiontobeinvalidorunenforceable,theremainingprovisionsofthisAgreementwillremaininfullforceandeffect.
