    purposeofthisdocumentistoprovideeffectivewaysforteacherstoteachan8thgradeGlobalStudiescoursewithMAGErecommended

    units.Thereare2proposedpacingguidesfortheyearwhichhavebeendevelopedbyacommitteeofteachersfromacrossthestate,all

    membersoftheMinnesotaAllianceforGeographicEducation.Ineachproposal,theyearstartswithanoverview,followedby8regionalunits.Benchmarkshavebeenplacedineachunit,manywithsuggested

    activitiesandresources."Skills"benchmarksarelistedonaseparatepage(graybackground),butsomeskillsshouldbeincludedineachunit.Localneedsmayrequirethatbenchmarksbemovedtootherunits.This
