  • Technique, excellence and innovation

Atlasyol Inc., with its international knowhow, qualified engineering team and benefit from the state-of-the-

art equipment brings benefits to clients they serve. In addition their detailed understanding of the

internationally recognized design codes of practice and regulations enables them to incorporate design

best practice to the local service they provide to their clients. Atlasyol Inc.is committed to continual

innovation and improvement of both their installation and design capabilities thus enabling them to find

improved solutions which also bring economic benefits to the projects on which they are adopted.

  • The highly experienced design and site engineering

teams within Atlasyol Inc. combine their first hand site

experience with the latest generation of software tools

for complex engineering design purposes. Safety,

reliability and economics are all important

considerations to be taken into account. Thus,

empirical approaches, finite element and limit-

equilibrium methods are considered simultaneously at

the design stage to ensure the best solution for the

    project is found.

Atlasyol Inc. and its sister companies are arguably the

leading design, supply and install providers for ground

and marine engineering solutions in Turkey. Some of the

specific applications for which we are recognized are

    Geotextile Encased Columns (GECs), composite

anchored and geosynthetic reinforced retaining walls,

dewatering of industrial, municipal and natural sludge by

the use of polymer mixing and separation in large

geosynthetic tubes, near- shore wick-drain applications

and associated submerged basal reinforced platforms, off-

    shore/submerged GEC applications, forming marine

breakwaters by using large geosynthetic tubes, forming

new or replacing old concrete revetments for channels and

rivers by using grout filled geosynthetic mattresses.

  • Stone Column Application

After determining that stone columns are the optimum ground improvement method during the preliminary

design stage, Atlasyol will perform a detailed design then will carry out the site construction works with its

own machinery and fulfills all necessary quality control records.

  • Bottom Feed Method

    Top Feed Method

Stone columns act as vertical drains, thus allowing the rapid

dissipation of excessive pore water pressure induced by

seismic shock waves during an earthquake. In addition the

seismic forces resulting from earthquakes are naturally

distributed within the soil and stone column composite in

accordance with their respective rigidity ratios.

  • With its 5 vibro-hammer and 1 vibro-probe equipment

enabling a wide variety of different capabilities, Atlasyol is

capable of providing every size of stone column construction

work. With its largest vibro-hammer and stone column

machinery in Turkey, Atlasyol has proved its fast and reliable

site production capacity by constructing a total of 120.000

lm of stone column in only one month timeframe and

550.000 lm stone column in total within the İstanbul-İzmir

    highway soil improvement works

  • Atlasyol uses for all construction works fully automated

electronic data collection systems which monitor

recording real time the properties of each constructed

stone column. All data is stored, reported and

submitted to the related quality assurance department.

Design criteria such as column stiffness, bearing

capacity, and settlements are verified by means of load

tests on installed column arrays in the field.

  • Deep Soil Mixing Application

The experience of Atlasyol indicates that deep soil mixing method is a much safer, controllable and

measurable permanent solution compared to jet grouting alternatives. The following steps are typically carried

out:- A mechanical mixer with the same diameter as the proposed soil-crete column penetrates into the soil.

Meanwhile, grout which consists of cement, water and any admixtures if necessary is injected through the

nozzles at the tip of the mixer. Concurrent rotation of the mechanical mixer and grout injection forms a

homogeneous soil-crete column. Injection pressure and rotation speed change according to soil conditions to

ensure appropriate dosage of cement for each soil type.

Soil-crete column strengths achieve up to 15 MPa depending on soil type, w/c ratio and rotation speed/time.

  • Bored Piles & Continuous Flight Auger Piles

. Bored pile construction works can be carried out

successfully in almost every type of soil and can be

excavated in cased or open bore variety. Data

information sheet is submitted with each constructed

column relating to depth of pile, founding material

bearing capacity verification and volume of concrete

    taken by the pile bore.

CFA pile system, which can be considered as a type

of soil improvement method, offers an economic and

fast way in areas of very weak soil conditions.

Atlasyol Inc. has proved its capability and quality in

numerous projects with its construction speed and

    quality.

  • Geosynthetic Encased Stone Columns

. The entire column is supported by a seamless,

    radially woven geosynthetic sheath. Through

this support, the confining pressure can be

produced independently of the weak soil matrix.

It is possible to improve even very weak soil layers,

where SPT blows are 0-2 by means of the GEC system.

Atlasyol Inc. constructed more than 150.000lm of GEC

successfully in challenging working conditions within

central Turkey between 2012 and 2014.

  • Geosynthetic Encased Stone Columns

. The GEC system provides a relatively quick

and economical solution in cases where

stone columns or similar construction types

are incapable of providing a robust design

solution due to the inherently weak nature of

the soft soils. In situations such as this where

pre-cast concrete piles and stone columns

may have too little lateral support to work

effectively and cast in situ/ bored in place

piles may suffer from shaft necking there is

little alternative left to consider apart from a

    GEC solution

These unfavorable cases can be illustrated

as projects over very weak alluvial soil

properties, in routes which are planned to be

crossed by means of a bridge, viaduct or

    similar engineering projects.

Through this system, it is possible to create

much more reliable solutions due to its

    distinctive feature of improving the

surrounding soil conditions compared to rigid

systems like piles which act independently

    from the matrix soil.

  • Geosynthetic Encased Stone Columns/Airbus Hamburg & Thyssen Krupp Brazil

.This system, which is practiced since nearly

15 years all around the world and especially

in some landmark projects such as the Airbus

production plant in Hamburg, or the storage

yards of Tyseen-Krupp in Brazil. Atlasyol

Inc. provides turnkey GEC projects in

Turkey and internationally as a certified

‘Preferred Installer’ of the GEC system; this is

in full cooperation with one of the co-

developers of this system, Huesker GmbH.

  • Wick-drain Application

.The wick drain method, which is another type of soil

improvement method, has also been performed by Atlasyol

successfully in several challenging working conditions. This

system, which accelerates the settlement process of soils

where the groundwater table is near foundation level

    provides an economicand effective solution.

    The wick drains are modern

    alternatives to the older

    technology of vertical sand drains.

Today the ‘wicks’ are formed from

    a geocomposite sandwich of a

    cuspated or extruded core

covered on both sides by a

    geotextile. The wick elements are

    some 5mm thick and around

100mm wide, and are driven to

the required depth into soft soils

by being attached to a hammer

    mandrill. Once installed the wick

    drains provide a highly permeable

    vertical pathway for the

    dissipation of excess pore water

    pressures typically within soft

    alluvial sediments

  • Diaphragm Wall Application

    .

The diaphragm wall system, which provides a safe

solution in conditions where the presence of high

groundwater levels and soft or sandy soils makes for

difficult installation of walls and foundation structures.

Atlasyol designs and installs diaphragm walls, which

is normally done under a bentonite slurry infill, on a

    progressive, panel by panel process.

  • Soil Nail and Ground Anchor Application

    .

Atlasyol Inc. offers turnkey project solutions

    in applications such as landslide

    remediation, stabilization, deep excavation

support and slope stabilization. Active and

passive anchors are designed and applied

as a single system or as a combined

    solution often with geosynthetic reinforced

soil structures, bored piles or mini piles

acting as vertical dowel elements or

    bearing structures.

  • Atlasyol has worked on near shore and offshore

projects such as breakwater or groyne constructions for

marina or harbor developments. With its own

hydrographic surveying and pile construction platform

boats Atlasyol-1 and Atlasyol-2 and professional diver

team. Atlasyol Inc. uses state-of-the-art computation

and research technology to ensure a comprehensive

    design and solution is provided.

    Off-Shore Structures.

  • Offshore structures, such as pipeline

    installation, inlet and discharge structures,

    deep water shoring, bracing and

    segmented quay-wall constructions are

    successfully implemented by our

    competent and certified diving teams

using state of the art equipment. The

progress is always monitored by using

    GPS surveying and positioning technology.

All marine works are completed using our

    own specialized barges and equipment.

    Off-Shore Structures.

  • The main groyne structure is constructed by

the help of professional divers and by using

large diameter geosynthetic tubes which are

filled with dredged sand to act as core fill

    elements.

Offshore soil improvement works like GECs,

stone columns, wick drains or basal

reinforcements are monitored by using GPS

    surveying and positioning technology and

    additionally supported and by professional

    divers, barges and equipment.
