Kiwanis Meet June 5 The Kiwanis of Tellico Village will meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5. The speaker for the luncheon is Phil Hamilton, an expert on national security issues, to discuss the Middle East. Members pay $10. Seeking Fellow Sylvan Pontoon Boat Lovers Do you own a Sylvan pontoon boat or are you looking for more information about them? If so, the Sylvan Pontoon Club is just the group for you. This is a new club looking for members to help structure meetings and activities of interest to Sylvan pontoon boat enthusiasts. Tellico Community Player’s Present a Summer Festival of One Acts June 28

Tellico Community Players announce the Summer Festival of three one-act plays. Each one-act will be directed by a different individual. This is an exciting project for the players and an opportunity for novice directors to get their feet wet. Each show is approximately 30 minutes with a 15-minute intermission between each show.

The three one-act plays will be presented at the Grand Vista Convention Center. Opening night will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28; and will run through Sunday, July 1. Sunday’s performance will be a 1:30 p.m. matinee. Also returning to the Grand Vista will be heavy appetizers and a cash bar. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the Village Salon, ReMax on the Lake, Kahite Pub and Grill, and Greer’s Furniture in Loudon. Tickets will also be available at the door. The first one-act is Nobody Famous by D.M. Larson, directed by Jim Thompson. The play covers a visit to a fortune teller and its surprising consequences. The cast includes: • Careol Lessnau as Brenda – A non-believing actress with a desire to

be famous • Jean Mallat as Heather – Brenda’s believing and slightly ditzy friend • Millie Leroy as Mooch – A fortune teller who gets surprisingly lucky • Nick Brancik as Joe – An angry previous customer who feels

cheated • Connie Thompson as Gena - Brenda’s agent • Dave Hudgens as Barry – A movie scout The second one-act is He Said and She Said written by Alice Gerstenberg and directed by Michaela Martin. The gossip abounds in the Halderman’s living room just before a dinner party. Things get blown out of proportion when one friend feels it is her duty to protect her hostess from what “they” are saying. This cast includes: • Debbie Mayberry as Diana Chesbrough – A society girl • Marie Fertitta as Enid Haldeman – Her friend and hostess • Nelson Ledbetter as Felix Halderman – Husband to Enid • Doris Ryan as Mrs. Cyrus Packard – Their friend The third one-act will be The Case of the Music Guild Murders written by John Donald O’Shea and directed by Pamela Russell. It has been a tough year for the River City Music Guild. Two directors have been murdered and now the body of a third director has been found poisoned, stabbed, strangled, and shot. The police chief and his detective soon narrow down the murder suspects to those with the motive and opportunity to commit the murder-the Music Guild’s stable of sopranos! This cast includes: • Scott Mathout as Nick Tracey – Chief of police • Bill Bruggen as Peter Hawk – Disheveled detective in the mode of

Flag Collection Through June 14 American Legion Post 256, Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department and Local Boy Scouts will conduct the 2012 Flag Retirement Ceremony 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the TVVFD fire house on Chota Road. The public is invited to attend the ceremony. The flag collection time is through June 14 with collection containers at the following locations: POA office; Chota Recreation Center; Kahite, Tanasi, and Toqua Clubhouse lobbies; Tellico Village Library; TVVFD Fire House.

Patriotic Celebration July 3 Village service groups (General Federation of Women’s Clubs—Tellico Village, Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary) are planning the Independence Day celebration 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, in the Village Square. There will be entertainment, games for big and little “kids” and hot dogs and ice cream. Headlining the entertainment will be Tamra Comstock, Gateway Entertainment recording artist of Christian and country music. Also performing will be the East Tennessee Concert Band - and just wait until you see the display of showroom-ready new, vintage, sport and custom motorcycles! Come early, bring your friends, guests and neighbors and enjoy the celebration.
