PRESIDENTS REPORT

Well what a month this has been and continues to be.

We started with YOTY and didn’t we, I mean Gemma, do so

well?

To make through to the regional final and miss out by 1 point

is amazing it was worth missing out on my roster at Surf

Festival to hear those young people talk. Great work by Janelle on this and I am very happy that

she has asked to do it again next year. Out of this and Kirra’s trip overseas with Youth Exchange

has come the possibility of a Leo’s club, the seed has been planted and I will work on this more in

the near future.

Congratulations to Gary for another very successful Surf Festival, all the surfies I talked to heaped

praise on us as a club for being there all the time and they all said that we had better be there

next year or they will protest.

This next few weeks are going to be busy with car parking, BCF, Bunning’s, The bike race’s starting

at Read Park etc, so when asked please consider how you can help, we will also have the Brolga at

the “E vehicle expo” in May, this could be a one off or massive in the future.

Last Saturday night your social committee ran a very successful, fun and enlightening trivia night

which much needed funds for the Chappies. I think they had over 80 people in attendance. At

time of writing I don’t know the final figure we are donating to the Chappies but it is well in

excess of $1500. Well done to the Social Committee and thank you. Remember they have another

night at the den organised, so get your names in.

I would like to congratulate the new board on their dedication to this club, I know we say it every

year, but this is your club, not mine. I was just the figure head this year, you the club run the show

and the board of directors just steer it along the way. So if you even have a small inkling to be a

part of something that is morally GOOD please think about board next year, start thinking and

planning now.

All the committees are working really well and beginning to set up the hand over thank you.

That’ll do from me.

RECENT HAPPENINGS

Youth of the Year

Gemma Sampson, who was the winner of our Club event held on 20th February, went on to win the Zone final held at the Cooroy Pomona Club, and did very well at the Region Final held at the Palmwoods Club. Gemma is a Year 12 student at Good Shepherd Lutheran College.

Festival of Surfing Event

Our Tewantin Noosa Lions Club sponsored 2 events at the Festival with prize money of $500

each for the Junior Boy and Girl Encouragement Event. The Festival is a great money earner

for the Club, thanks to the huge efforts of Gary Dun.

Our rather sad “Advertising” Sign

This is the sign on the eastern

approach into Tewantin that

informs visitors of the various

Clubs in the Noosa. As can be

seen, some have been re-

furbished others not. President

Chris is keen to upgrade our sign

(second from top).

SOME SMILES:

Those wonderful Church Bulletins! These sentences (with all

the BLOOPERS) actually appeared in church bulletins:

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things

not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

Miss Charlene Mason sang 'I will not pass this way again,' giving obvious

pleasure to the congregation.

For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery

downstairs.

Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can

get.

Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So

ends a friendship that began in their school days.

At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be 'What Is Hell?' Come

early and listen to our choir practice.

Scouts are saving aluminium cans, bottles and other items to be recycled.

Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new

members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen

in the basement on Friday afternoon.

Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00 PM - prayer and medication to follow.

The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious

hostility.

Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back

door.

The Associate Minister unveiled the church's new campaign slogan last Sunday:

'I Upped My Pledge - Up Yours

The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church

basement Friday at 7 PM. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.
