The Manatee Chamber gives its members access to a dynamic press release tool making it easy to share their good news with local media.
There are many reasons to send a press release and local media is more likely to pick up a story if they receive a press release. Here are some examples to get you started:
• Announce an Award Recognition • Earning a Certification • Announce New Employee(s) • Charitable Contribution/
Check Presentation • Announce a New Product or Service • Introduce a New Program • Announce an Upcoming Event • Patents and Trademarks • Milestone Anniversary • Looking for Interns • Scholarships Offered – How to Apply
If you need guidance on writing an engaging press release thatgets noticed, we are here to help! Our media friends have trained us well and we offer these tips to you:
• Include the most important information in the first two paragraphs. The Who, What, When, Where and Why are very important!
• Write an accurate and catchy headline that entices the recipient to want to read more.• Keep it simple. About 4-5 paragraphs is sufficient, and be sure to use short sentences and
avoid repetition.• Make sure there is actual news in your press release. Sending a release reminding the media
of what your company does is not really news and will likely be ignored.• Avoid acronyms. Spell out titles, names of certifications, organizations, etc.• Pay attention to the news. If you read about a trend happening that your business might
illustrate, think about using that as an idea for a press release.• If you think you truly have a unique idea or angle for a news story, send a brief press release
and then call the media outlet directly. If editors are interested, they will follow up.
To use the Chamber's Press Release Tool, log into your member account, click on the Press Release Submission Tool button, and share your good news with more than 100 area media contacts.

Utilize the Chamber's Press Release Tool to Share Your Good News and Gain Exposure for Your Business!
How to Use the Manatee Chamber Press Release Tool
It’s as simple as filling out your information and clicking “Submit”.
1. Go to ManateeChamber.com and click on Member Login at top right.
2. Enter your Username and Password and click Login. If you have not received your login credentials, or have perhaps misplaced them, call the Chamber and we’ll set you up.
3. Click the Press Release Submission Tool link in the left-hand column.
4. Fill in your contact information.5. In the box that says Special Instructions,
compose a short note that thanks everyone for placing your information in their publication/media, and to contact you if they need additional information.
6. In the next text box, type in your content. If you have already scripted your release in a separate document, do not copy and paste directly from that document. Instead, copy your text and paste into Notebook and then copy and paste into the white text box to avoid formatting issues.
7. Attach up to three photos if you'd like. They must be no larger than 2MB each.
8. Select the media recipients you'd like to receive your release, or click the box in the top left corner to Select All.
9. Scroll to the bottom of the page and choose to either 1) Send Sample Press Release to Contact Email to send a test or 2) Send Press Release to Selected Media & Contact Email to send it to all Media. You will receive a confirmation after you hit Send.
10. Congratulations, you just shared your good news with more than 100 local media contacts!
Looking for more tips on writing a press release? Contact the
Chamber, we are here to help and want you to maximize
this valuable benefit.
Manatee Chamber of CommerceCarey Miller 941-748-4842, ext. 113
BONUS TIP!When writing your press release, make it as "newsworthy" as possible.
Do not self-promote, instead, craft your release to appeal to thereaders or the audience. This will help you to gain credibility
while forming a valuable, promotional relationship.
public policy
During most election years there is a hard focus on the November general election ballot. Elected leaders and important ballot issues are decided on Super Tuesday and this year there are 435 U.S. House seats and 35 U.S. Senate seats being contested.
In Florida, the Governor’s Office and all three cabinet seats are up for grabs, in addition to competitive races for the U.S. Senate, Congress, and numerous state and local offices. Toss in thirteen State constitutional amendments, and we have quite the heavy ballot in November. However, primary elections are equally important and should not be overlooked.
In the August primary, voters have the opportunity to select which candidates will represent the two major parties during the general election. The primary ballot will include the following races: U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Florida Governor, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, State Representative, and local offices including Manatee County Commission, among others.
Are You and Your Employees Prepared to Vote?In Manatee County, voters will also select their preferred candidate in non-partisan races for the Manatee County School Board and Circuit
Judge, 12th Judicial Circuit. Most, if not all, of these races will be decided
by voters in August.
The Chamber does not endorse candidates for public office, although we regularly take positions on issues that are important to our
community. We believe it’s vitally important for our
members to learn about each candidate before they vote. In
this effort, the Chamber recently hosted a candidate forum with several
partner organizations. The forum provided our members an opportunity to meet and have dialogue with many candidates.
The Chamber prepared a candidate questionnaire for those individuals running for the Manatee County Commission and Manatee County School Board. How do the candidates respond to issues of concern to the Chamber and the business community? Learn more about these candidates at ManateeChamber.com/Candidates.

Chamber Members Get Inside Look at Bucs OrganizationTeam executives with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers paid a visit to Manatee County for the Inaugural “Beyond the End Zone” Luncheon hosted by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
Attendees enjoyed lunch, mingled with top Bucs executives, met offensive lineman Ryan Jensen, and had the opportunity to take a photo with the XXXVII Super Bowl trophy. Bucs promotional items were given to every guest and several attendees took home fantastic door and raffle prizes.
Team Insider Casey Phillips led a panel discussion with Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford, Chief Corporate Development & Brand Officer Atul Khosla, Chief Ticketing Officer Ben Milsom, and newly signed offensive lineman Ryan Jensen. Each shared their vision for what fans can expect from their game day experience, current and future stadium renovations, the evolution of their marketing strategy, and why success off the field is just as important as success on the field. Ryan Jensen stayed afterwards to take photos with guests, sign autographs, and show a bit of his off-the-field softer side.
A sincere thank you to our luncheon sponsors: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota, Feld Entertainment, The Mall at UTC, and Dignity Memorial.

Winners Congratulations! The Manatee Chamber of Commerce named its 2018 Champions of Healthcare at a gala awards breakfast on June 28. With a crowd of more than 300 people in attendance, our event honored almost 60 nominees, 23 finalists and 9 award winners.
"We received tremendous support for the Champions of Healthcare Awards again this year," said Jacki Dezelski, President and CEO of the Manatee Chamber. "We celebrate the important work so many people, programs, business and institutions are doing in Manatee County to support healthcare access and delivery, particularly work that is above and beyond anyone's 'day job.' The awards are designed to recognize impact, excellence, and dedication. The Champions of Healthcare Awards has become a signature program and this year's event is a testament to the amazing work being done in our community. Added to that is what a great morning it is! We're usually moved to tears because of the generosity and service we hear about during the program."
Plans are already under way for next year's program and it is not too early to begin thinking about nominating a deserving individual, organization, business or program for the awards. It's also not too early to secure your sponsorship for the 2019 Champions of Healthcare Awards. Please contact Jacki Dezelski at 941-748-4842, ext. 131.
