Pastor's Message for the Month . . .
“A Time for Everything
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace..” Ecclesiastes3:1-8
Our scripture from Ecclesiastes reminds us that there is a time for everything. For 36 years I have ministered with you. Now the time has come for me to retire and to look to new directions in my life. It has truly been a blessing serving as your Pastor for all these years. In many ways, you are more than a congregation to me. You are my extended family. Saying goodbye to you is very difficult and I will treasure the memories of my time with you always. I have been blessed over the years with great Council leadership and with many individuals doing the various ministry tasks that are necessary in a congregation. I give thanks for our current leadership and staff and am confident that God will raise up new leaders at Advent. Even as it is time for me to retire from serving as your Pastor, it is time for new pastoral leadership. My hope is that God will lead you to select a pastor who has a shepherd’s heart and who will preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am confident that the person God sends will also lead you outward to new ways of mission. Ruby and I will always remember you with thanksgiving and will keep you in our prayers. Please remember and pray for us as we anticipate a move to the Lehigh Valley. May God provide us new opportunities for ministry and service. As an old hymn says it so well; “God be with you till we meet again.”
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Sorcek

FALL WORSHIP SCHEDULE
On Sunday, September 2 we will have a Traditional service of Holy Communion at 9:30 am. Guest Worship Leader will be Pastor Frank Sayford. On Sunday, September 9 we return to our fall schedule of worship services with Traditional Worship at 8 am and Contemporary Holy Communion at 9:30 am. Please note that because of Pastor Sorcek’s celebration at 1 pm there will not be Sunday school that day. Sunday school will resume on Sunday, September 16. UPDATE ON THE SEARCH FOR A NEW
PASTOR
Church Council has been working with Dean Norbert Hahn and the Synod on securing pastoral leadership for the future. After August 31, Pastor Sorcek is unavailable for any pastoral acts or worship events. If there are any pastoral needs please contact Council President George Henry at 215-970-8523 (cell) or administrative assistant Fran Zanis at the church number 215-355-2529. Council has arranged for the following pastors to lead worship in September. They are hopeful in the future of identifying a pastor who can guide the congregation during the transition process. For now, we welcome the following worship leaders and preachers: September 2, 9:30 am Pastor Frank Sayford September 9, 8 & 9:30 am Pastor George Harpel September 16, 8 & 9:30 am Pastor Mary Konopka September 23, 8& 9:30 am Pastor Geoge Harpel September 30 8 & 9:30 am Pastor Bill Smith
