We have already been back in the swing of things for over a month now at Omicron Pi, here are some of the highlights of the month and what to check for in this issue of The Alumni Newsletter:

- Recruitment was well underway before Febru-ary even started thanks to Senior Vice President Marcus Wooling! We held several very successful events including a Resume and LinkedIn workshop taught by several of the current brothers.

- Our inaugural Mocktail Party was the highlight of recruiting season. Brothers and Prospective pledges had a blast getting to know one another over refreshments and fun ice breakers.

- The Chi pledge class was pinned with 11 mem-bers. Chancellor Greg Thornton presided over the ritual ceremony, and once again performed it from memorization as part of our quest for Chap-ter of Excellence.

- Additionally to the collegiate brothers that we hope to add to the chapter, we also will be look-ing to add several new faculty brothers. Faculty Brother initiates include Dean Low, Dr. Thomas Lachowicz, and Dr. Felix Amenkhienan.

- Professional activity events kept the chapter busy hosting several events which included a pre-sentations from RUPD and Springleaf Financials.

- Many of the brothers also participated in sever-al “executive-in-Residence” luncheons hosted by COBE. Speakers this month were Marquett Smith of Verizon, and COBE Dean Low, a future Faculty initiate of our chapter.

Throughout this semester COBE has been host-ing several “Executives-in-Residence” lun-cheons that brothers have been attending with various Radford alumni who have been success-ful in their career paths. Pictured to the left are several brothers alongside our new fac-ulty initiate and COBE Dean, Dean George Low. We look forward to welcoming Dean Low and having his guidance moving forward.

Pictured above are brothers Kelci Simon-sen (VP Public Relations) and Brianna Koppleman (Fundraising Chair) manning our bake sale table fundraiser in the Bonnie Plaza. Fundraising Chair Brianna Koppleman has some great ideas for the semester including a penny war between the families within the chapter, several more bake sales on and off campus and other events. If you have any ideas please let us know, or if you would like to do-nate to the chapter please let us know.

The Chi pledge class officially began its process towards being offered entrance to our great fraternity February 16th in Russell Hall. We offered and pinned 11 prospective pledges following the ritual ceremony conducted by Chancellor Greg Thornton. For the second straight semes-ter Greg has successfully memorized and recited the pinning ceremony as a part of our push to Chapter of Excellence and CMP credit.

Vice president of Professional Activi-ties Emily Fletcher has kept the chap-ter growing professionally with sev-eral events this February. on 2/11 we had Brad Harris of Springleaf Financial speak to us on a variety of topics includ-ing his company Springleaf Financial, transitioning from a Radford graduate to professional and managing money; Pictured top right.

On 2/24 we had a presentation from Sergeant Scott Shaffer of the Radford University Police Department on risk management. It was a lively, interac-tive discussion that all of the brothers enjoyed. Pictured bottom right is the chapter with Sergeant Shaffer during his presentation.

If any alumni would like to present to the chapter we would love to hear from you, so please contact us.

Recruitment for the Chi pledge class began as soon as the semester did, with several Meet the Chapter events.

Something new we tried this semester was hosting a Resume and LinkedIn session taught by brothers. This went well, being able to help potential pledges as well as other students better their resumes and LinkedIn profiles.

Armed with new yellow Spring themed re-cruitment shirts, Omicron Pi came out in full to the Winter club fair hosted in the new Health & Wellness Center. We even brought our DSP themed fun frame to take photos with and new wood letters.

This semester will also bring Omicron pi three new faculty initiates. The new dean of the College of Business & Economics, Dean George Low will be joining with Dr. Felix Amenkhienan (accounting) and Dr. Thomas Lachowicz (management) this semester. We believe they will all be great additions.

Below pictured are Brothers recruit-ing during the Winter Club Fair held on campus in the new Health & Well-ness Center.

Senior Vice President put to-gether an excellent recruiting plan which included the above fliers and photo covers. During one of the Meet the Chapter events Marcus Gave a great presentation on Delta Sigma Pi and our chapter.

The highlight of this recruiting season was our inaugural Mocktail party! Prospective pledges were able to hang out and get to know the cur-rent brothers. Light refreshments, music and dancing were just part of the evenings fun. A huge dance line formed, the electric slide hap-pened and everyone took pictures with our pho-tobooth DSP frame, you can see some of the family line pictures to the right. The prospects were able to introduce themselves to the chap-ter, and we believe they will make for great brothers once they make it through the process! Such an awesome event is sure to become a sta-ple of Omicron Pi’s future recruitment plan.
