Students from the SU high board as well as academic clubs,

community service, conferences, and senate attended the

annual American Student Government Association (ASGA)

conference in Washington D.C. ASGA is one of the largest

student government conferences in America where students

learn the "best practices" that could dramatically improve the

student government in their campus through attending sessions

and interacting with peers and advisors.

Vaccesera Labs and the AUC Clinic to help relief protestors

A referendum on the AUC Students’ Constitution was held,

to replace the constitution of 2004 with the new constitution

drafted by the new SG. The referendum resulted in the

of graduation-related activities, starting with sending

A strenuous and long process during which the OSD receives

and tabulates graduation speech entries, then coordinate

selection of the five top winners with the SU president. A

committee comprised of the Associate Dean of Students, a

representative of the Faculty Senate for Student Affairs,

professional OSD staff and a student representative interview

the five semi-finalists and choose the final graduation speech

winner. The final process ends by editing and proof-reading

the speech and training the winner on timing and speech

delivery techniques.

Four-day training held in Rock Sea Camp, near Nuwaibaa,

South of Sinai www.rocksea.net. The training provided

participants with communication and negotiation skills through

a game called “World Trade Bank”. Trainings for team

building and unity through games called “I think I build” were

SU Cup Proposal Fall & Spring A proposal by the SU president, for a special Cup to be

presented during the undergraduate commencements. The

Cup is to be presented to outstanding members of the SG

striking a balance between their contribution to student

activities and academic excellence.

A two and a half days retreat in Rome-Italy, where students

were introduced to planning and problem solving techniques

through a 10-step Treasure Hunt game. During the hunt,

participants were free to select their route to collect as many

points as possible during a confined time span.

SU Public Forum March 22nd

A public forum organized by the SU, where students from the

General Assembly got to discuss concerns and voice their

opinions freely, in an attempt to strengthen the ties between

the SU and the general assembly and clear any

misunderstandings or misconceptions.

Freezing of SU President March 25th

A Student Court decision has been made to freeze the SU

President after calling for a referendum. Freezing of the SU

President did not affect the SU activities, and all committees

were allowed to resume activities under the declared

constitution of 2011.

This is the final event; where eligible teams and individual

talents get to present their artistic talents through an enthralling

stage performance. The first three winners receive valuable

The Student Senate called upon the General Assembly to

either renew or withdraw the vote of confidence in the SU

president elect through a simple majority referendum,

organized and monitored by the Student Judicial Board. The

referendum resulted in renewal of the vote of confidence for

the SU president.

A debate during which each presidential candidate tries to gain

support and rally maximum number of voters. During the

debate, candidates also get the chance to communicate with

the student body and discuss their plans and vision for the SU.

The SU Presidential Elections is held annually, during which

the student body gets to choose the candidate who is best able

to represents their vision, serve their purposes and voice their

concerns. Students are encouraged to cast their votes in an

A strenuous and long process during which the OSD receives

and tabulates graduation speech entries, then coordinate

selection of the five top winners with the SU president. A

committee interviews the five semi-finalists, and chooses the

9.2 Conferences

Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (AIESEC): An international, nonpolitical,

nonprofit, student- run, independent, educational foundation. AIESEC is a global network of 50,000 members across more than 107 countries

and territories at more than 1700 universities. AIESEC contributes to the community through youth exchange in order to develop individuals

who are committed to international cooperation and understanding.

Cairo Model Arab League(CIMAL): CIMAL offers a simulation of the league of Arab states to give students an insight into Arab regional

issues and the role of the Arab world in international affairs. CIMAL seeks to enhance mutual understanding among students of different

nationalities through programs such as the Euro-Arab Dialogue and the Arab-Arab Dialogue.

Cairo Model United Nations (CIMUN): CIMUN brings students from around the world together to simulate UN bodies and organizations.

The program provides students with debating and organization skills, as well as a better understanding of the way in which UN bodies

function.

Entrepreneur Society (ES): It organizes numerous workshops that help students attain the skills needed to meet the challenges of the

business world. One of the main events organized by the club is the business plan competition, during which students present and defend their

business proposals.

International Conference on Global Economy (ICGE): ICGE deals with one of modern life pillars; the economy. The conference offers

students from various majors an early sense of the market through practical experience

International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC): ISLC is an annual conference that serves for a better Egypt and a better world. It is

a place where leadership is practiced through six different fields of life; business, culture, junior councils, media, politics and psychology.

ISLC is a process of seven to eight sessions followed by a four-day conference where participants are given the opportunity to debate

controversial issues and come up with applicable resolutions for the problems they tackled.

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE): SIFE is a global, non-profit, educational organization that aims to improve the quality of life and

standard of living around the world by teaching the principles and values of market economics.

9.3 Community Service:

Ashanek Ya Baladi: It is the community service project of the Student Union. It is focused on sustainable development of poor areas in Old

Cairo, particularly in Ain El Siera area.

Anti Cancer Team: The goal of the Anti-Cancer Team is to alleviate pain from the lives of Egyptian children suffering from cancer. It offers

psychological and moral support, emotional counseling, and organizes several charity events in order to generate funding for projects like

purchasing medicine, covering operation costs, and providing essential needs for the Cancer Institute.

Glow: the club aims at empowering youth through knowledge and character development.

Help Club: Generates charity, awareness, and entertainment to the needy by preparing and distributing food packages, leading awareness

campaigns, and organizing comedy shows that touch upon social issues of interest to the youth.

Hand In Hand: Supports the elderly in Egypt both financially and psychologically through visits and recreational activities, with a goal of

narrowing generation gaps by connecting the elderly with youth and children.

Resala: Works on touching the lives of unprivileged groups targeted by Resala NGO services through different developmental projects

STAR: It is committed to working with refugees to improve their lives in exile. The club promotes awareness of refugee rights, offers

English and Arabic classes to refugees in Egypt, and organizes art exhibitions.

Volunteers in Action: One of the oldest and largest clubs at AUC, VIA’s major scope of work is to organize educational and recreational

events for orphans through programs such as holding literacy classes, helping residents of the Meet Okba district start up micro projects, and

distributing new clothes and food packages at orphanages and to poor families. Its latest project involved helping orphan brides furnish their

new homes.

9.4 Academic Clubs:

Accounting Link: The club’s primary goal is to promote accounting as a profession and to inform students about the avenues of opportunity

available by choosing an accounting career.

Astronomy Club: The club promotes space sciences through various activities.

Biology Club: This club gives students the chance to interact with the community through programs and generates awareness about career

opportunities and graduate studies in biology.

Construction Engineering Association(CEA): Enhances theory and practice for AUC engineering students by fostering contact with the

design and construction industry through arranging summer internship opportunities, facilitating visits to construction sites and helping

students attend national industry conferences.

Economics Club: Creates an interest in economics and related issues, brings students together with other students and faculty, and attracts

speakers to bring new insight in the field of economics to our students.

Electronics engineering Association (EEA): Provides services for electronics engineering students in all realms (academic, social, career

related, etc.).

Finance and Investment Club: Helps students acquire knowledge about banking, finance and investment topics. Many activities are offered

during the year including social events with the business community, various speakers, and an annual banquet.

Philosophy Club: Explores questions of philosophical significance within the AUC community by discussing relevant issues in the fields of

art, history, economics and political science. In the spirit of passion, members promote undergraduate-led discussions, as well as paper and

topic presentations.

Psychology Club: The club shows students psychological applications to our everyday lives and provides detailed information about specific

topics in the field. Regular events include movie nights, speakers, and social gatherings.

Robotics Club: Provides a forum for learning about everything from hardware and electronics to fabricating parts and programming.

Members come from a variety of backgrounds and bring knowledge from their areas, all dedicated to the creation of working robots.

Society of Physics Students (SPS): Increases interaction between physics students, provides summer training and job opportunities, and

organizes lectures, debates and seminars. SPS’ main goal is to increase awareness of physics applications, concepts, and career possibilities

related to physics.

9.5 Cultural & Special Interest Clubs:

Arabic Literature Club: acquaints students with the beauty of the Arabic language through workshops, lectures, poetry nights and

competitions.

Al Quds Club: familiarize students with The Palestinian cause by supporting it in every way possible within the University’s policies and

regulations.

Creative Writing: Creative and expository Arabic writing- poems, short stories and critiques- has always been a primary means of

developing and promoting our cultural identity and heritage.

Cultural Discovery club: AUC established a Coptic study program in 2002,which the CDC builds upon by exploring the art, language, and

architecture through various : lectures, films, exhibitions, contests, workshops and field trips so that students have the chance to experience

the real flavor of the Coptic culture.

Egyptology Club: promotes knowledge of ancient Egyptian civilization and the appreciation of ancient Egypt through films, lectures, panel

discussions, and field trips.

Italian Association (ITACA): raises awareness of participants in the Italian culture and helps coordinate a small Italian community for

Italian students in Egypt.

Musica: combines singing and dancing together in one performance to introduce different cultures. Students learn basic techniques of

dancing styles, advancing to developing interdisciplinary performances

Theatre Club: regularly produces mini-plays and participates in the National University Cultural Competitions.

Law Student Association: LSA aims at building an awareness regarding the value of the legal education . LSA works towards improving

student life, addressing student concerns, and acts as a liaison between the students, faculty, administration, and alumni.

Political Science Graduate Student Association Supporting political science graduate students academically, and providing a variety of political awareness programs for AUC students.

The Graduate Student Association: This is the representative student organization for all graduate students at AUC. Its primary focus is to

support all graduate students academically and socially through providing a variety of services, social activities and trainings that meet the

needs of the expanding graduate population at AUC.
