In the final Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis concert of the season,the JLCO will perform a big-band rendition of John Coltrane’s immortal A Love Supreme,followed by a number of Coltrane classics related to freedom.

With special guest saxophonist and vocalist Camille Thurman, the band will re-introducelisteners to one of the most powerful pieces of music ever created. Universally hailed asa masterpiece upon its release in 1965, A Love Supreme is a perfectly paced suite of music and a musical embodiment of Coltrane’s complex spirituality.

Beyond this most-famous example, Coltrane’s songbook is a rich and diverse body of work.The band will reinterpret a number of his timeless pieces, with an emphasis on the concept of “freedom,” for this rare all-Coltrane JLCO performance.

For 25 years, National Geographic Live has brought these world-renowned storytellers— photographers, scientists, filmmakers, conservationists, and explorers — to stages across theglobe to share their awe-inspiring stories from the field with audiences in person.

“National Geographic Live: Backstage” provides stay-at-home audiences with a virtualcomplementary offering of the Nat Geo Live experience, right in their own homes — no tickets needed. Beginning Wednesday, April 29, these weekly interactiveFacebook Lives will give viewers a rare glimpse at the places National Geographic Explorers call home, when they aren’t scouring the ocean floor, scaling perilous mountains,or traipsing through the jungle.

“National Geographic Live: Backstage” kicks off with underwater photographer Brian Skerryon April 29. Other speakers featured in the upcoming weeks will include Wildlife Filmmaker Bertie Gregory on May 6, Egyptologist Kara Cooney on May 13, Wildlife FilmmakerFilipe DeAndrade on May 20, and Carnivore Ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant on May 27.All events will begin at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

National Geographic Society recently launched Explorer Classroom sessions to connectstudents with scientists, conservationists, and other National Geographic Explorers around the globe.As communities around the world are exploring new ways of teaching and learning at home,these live broadcasts of Explorer Classroom are available every weekday at 2 p.m. ET to bringexploration to life for students.

National Geographic is also using Instagram Live to hold discussions with Explorers covering the pandemic. The series of videos is a collaboration between Nat Geo’s Instagram teamand mobile storytelling team.

As an older adult, regular physical activity is one of the mostimportant things you can do for your health. It can prevent manyof the health problems that seem to come with age. It also helpsyour muscles grow stronger so you can keep doing your day-to-dayactivities without becoming as dependent on others. Your healthbenefits will also increase with the more physical activity that youdo, even if you’re only able to exercise a few times a week.

The CDC’s recommendation for adults 65 and older is at least 150 minutes of moderateintensity aerobic activity a week such as brisk walking. Additionally, it recommends at least2 days a week of activities that strengthen muscles and improve balance. Older adults withchronic conditions should consult their doctor before beginning an exercise program.

Older adults should move more and sit less throughout the day. Keep in mind, some physicalactivity is better than none. Older adults who sit less and do any amount of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity gain some health benefits. The Cadbury Creme Egg, a milk chocolate egg filled with a creamy white-and-yellowfondant that is meant to mimic a real chicken egg, is a polarizing Easter candy. Somemight say it’s cloyingly sweet. This seasonal treat has become a signifier of spring, inpart because eggs traditionally symbolize renewal and rebirth.

Regardless of how you feel about this confection, you can’t deny its prominence fromcoast to coast come Easter time. The story of how the Cadbury Creme Egg came to beso popular starts back in the 19th century, in a small store in Birmingham, England. A man wantedto make better drinking chocolate, and ended up starting something that would be much bigger.

In 1824 John Cadbury opened up a shop in Birmingham, England, where he sold a variety of drinksincluding tea, coffee, and drinking chocolate. Cadbury gained some success with his shop and openedup a chocolate and cocoa factory in 1831 with his brother in order to produce more drinking chocolate.

In 1847 Joseph Fry, a competitor of Cadbury’s, began experimenting with making moldable chocolatebars. This sparked Cadbury’s experimentation in moldable chocolate, and in 1875 Cadbury createdthe first chocolate egg filled with sugary treats.

By 1919 Cadbury and Fry had merged their companies, and in 1923 they created the very firstchocolate eggs filled with cream. The Cadbury Creme Eggs we know and love today, however, weren’tinvented until 1963 under the name “Fry’s Creme Eggs.” The name changed to “Cadbury CremeEggs” in 1971. In 1985, Cadbury launched a successful ad campaign, “How do you eat yours?” andthe eggs have only achieved more fame as a result.

The Cadbury Creme Eggs are produced by many companies around the world — Hershey having themarket rights in the United States. It is rumored that they taste different from country to country,and that the candy eggs are sweeter in England because they use cream to make their milk chocolate,
