January was a busy month! We came back from holidays and hit the
ground running!
We skated for a couple of weeks. The weather was great and we were
grateful to have Tanya Molachyk provide some instruc on to our stu-
dents again this year.
Our amazing PAC raised $5000 with the Christmas Basket fundraiser!
Thank you to everyone who bought ckets! This money goes a long
way in helping us to enhance student learning.
Our SHINE focus for February is ‘Nice’ with a special emphasis on kind-
ness. We are doing a ‘Fill Your Bucket’ event all month. Students will
be trying to catch other SHINING to try and fill our school bucket with
kindness. We will celebrate together on February 27th with Pink Shirt
Day.
Our gymnas cs unit has started in PE, so the gym is full of balance
beams, springboards and parallel bars. This is a favorite for our stu-
dents!
Our grade 3 students will be heading to Tuc-el-Nuit on February 20th
to celebrate Okanagan Days! This is always a great day of learning
with lots of music and dancing.
Our PAC con nues it’s hard work this month with a Movie Night on
Feb. 22nd. Please join us for a night of family me watching ‘Ralph
Wrecks the Internet’.
We were so fortunate to have Harkers Organics and Crowsnest Win-
ery supply lunch for our kids while SESS was on semester changeover.
The food was fantas c! We are so grateful for their generosity.
February is another full month! Thanks for all your support of our stu-
dents. We are fortunate to have such a commi ed and involved learn-
ing community.
Thanks for all you do to make our school the best place to learn in the
valley!
Sincerely,
Mrs. S, Miller

Jan. 22, 2019 LETTER TO EMPLOYERS FROM: Cawston Primary School REGARDING: Workshop for your staff who have children in Grade 1
I am writing to ask you to provide some work time flexibility to your employee who is also the parent of a
grade 1 student in our school.
Grade 1 is an exciting time for children and their parents. It is when teachers set a foundation for children’s
reading and math skills. We rely on parents to support classroom learning and offer a workshop to help them
do this. The workshop is titled, ‘Come Read with Me’ and provides information to support at-home reading.
The workshop takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 6th from 8:30-10:10.
We hear from some parents that it is hard to leave work to attend a daytime workshop. Please consider
providing some workday flexibility so this parent can participate.
If you have any questions or require further information, please contact me at the numbers below.
I appreciate your support!
Shannon Miller Principal Cawston Primary School (250) 499-5617 / (250) 485-4434/(250) 485-8615 [email protected] Families receive a free storybook and other supplies to learn with at home.
