1 WHITE EXTERIORS In the past, white was the most popular farmhouse color because it was an easy choice that was readily available and made for an easy touch-up job.

While white may be the most popular choice, not all farmhouses have to be traditional. As long as the color is not fussy (no bright colors here!) – a simple paint choice with a gray or neutral undertone will do the trick!

2 BOARD AND BATTEN This type of vertical siding, with wide and thin alternating planks, gives any plan an authentic farmhouse look and is great for adding visual interest with character!

MEET CLARE SAMOLIS Enjoying the Coastal Life in her Townhome.

Clare Samolis, who is originally from Suffield, CT, decided that St. James Plantation in Southport, NC, was where she wanted to retire after her sister boasted about how it reminded her of “a small New England coastal town.”

With the freedom of being able to work from home, she decided that building her dream home was the right choice for her.

Clare chose our Seagrass townhome floor plan and she loved that she was able to personalize her home in our design studio. By adding craftsman style molding and bead board throughout the home, Clare was able to achieve that coastal feel that she was aiming for.
