MBS has Adoration every Saturday from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm. Although we invite you to drop in whenever you can, we really need adorers to sign up and commit to a specific hour each Saturday. If you can commit to a specific hour or even to a specific 30 minutes, call Rose Stone at 201-677-0761.

Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club will be serving breakfast this Sunday, January 21st from 8:15-11:45 am. Please join us for a

delicious “all you can eat” breakfast for only $3.00 and a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet old and new friends.

3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” - MARK 1:17 Jesus’ call to “Follow me” is a call to all Christians! The call is in the here and now, in our present circumstances, not when we think we are “ready” or have everything in order. Good stewardship of our God-given gifts means that things aren’t always going to go according to our schedule and that God has a much better plan in store for each of us.

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time January 22, 2012

The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.

— Mark 1:15

Knights of Columbus Several Sources Shelters Annual Drive

at Most Blessed Sacrament Saturday & Sunday

January 27 - 28 The Knights of Columbus Ramapo Valley Council #5846

will be collecting monetary donations the weekend of January 27-28 outside of the church after all masses. Several Sources Shelters provides safe havens for homeless and/or single pregnant women. They are

beacons of hope for God’s innocent preborn and their mothers. As free, safe havens for the abandoned, lost

and suffering pregnant, they provide much needed hope and support.

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a formation process for those seeking to become Catholic and for those Catholics wishing to

complete their Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Eucharist). The Most Blessed Sacrament RCIA begins a new formation year in October. Join with others who are interested in learning about Catholic Christianity as we explore who we are, what we believe, how we pray, and how we live our lives as a community of believers. If you are interested in learning more about RCIA at Most Blessed Sacrament, contact Father John Job at 201-891-4200 x 280.

THE DEMANDS OF DISCIPLESHIP Today we encounter readings that already have a Lenten feel about them. Nineveh under-goes a forty-day fast, the psalmist reminds us that God alone can show sinners the way, Paul shows us how fleeting the things and events of this world are, and Jesus cries out “Repent!” be-fore he calls his new followers. “Come after me,” Jesus says, but if we are to truly live out the com-mands and demands of our discipleship through baptism, we must first know our need for conver-sion, our repentance, our need to believe in the gospel fully. Today’s Gospel opens with the stark reminder of what befell John the Baptist for com-pletely living out his vocation as the herald of Christ and the gospel: he was arrested, impris-oned, and martyred. Though few of us will ex-perience consequences that extreme, we must all be ready to risk some sort of rejection as, heeding the call of Jesus, we live out the king-dom of God at hand, repent of our sins, and be-lieve in the good news of salvation.
