PRINCIPAL’S REPORT continued

2017 Class planning

The staff at Corrimal Public school are currently looking at class numbers and structures for 2017. To help us with our planning, we would appreciate knowing if any family is intending to leave our school at the end of this year, or if you know of any family who are intending to enrol at Corrimal Public in 2017. If this is the case, could you please contact the school office.

Corrimal Public School Merit Awards A reminder to students, please bring in your Bronze, Silver and Gold awards so you can participate in our final Silver Award morning Tea on Friday 2nd December and our Gold Reward Day on Friday 9th December.

Kids In2Uni Program

Last Wednesday, our Year 6 students, Mrs Veljanovski and parents had the opportunity to attend the University of Wollongong for the Kids In2Uni program. This is a wonderful initiative to give students an insight into opportunities for when they complete school. Students were able to visit Science, Engineering and Business faculties and were able to partake in activities including designing a catapult for marshmallows, exploring microbes and making an info commercial. It was great to hear such positive feedback about this program and what a wonderful initiative it was.

2017 School Leader Speeches

This week at our assembly, students in Year 5 who are pursuing a school leadership position in 2017, will be presenting a speech to the whole school, explaining why they would make a great school leader for Corrimal Public School. I look forward to hearing these speeches and wish the candidates all the best. The 2017 School Leaders will be announced at our Presentation Day assembly next week.

Please note change of time, the assembly this week will begin at 2pm.

Toys ‘n’ Tucker

Once again, Corrimal Public School will be supporting the Toy’s ‘n’ Tucker initiative organised by Anglicare. We are asking our families to donate items of food or gifts, which we will be given to families who would otherwise go without at Christmas time. For more information regarding what can be brought in, please refer to the flyer that was sent home. We ask for all donations to be brought into the office by Tuesday 6th December.

Parent Helpers Morning Tea We are very fortunate at Corrimal Public School to have such wonderful and supportive volunteers who assist our school community. To say thank you for their support we will be holding a parent helpers morning tea on Tuesday 6th December, (please note change of date). Invitations are being mailed out tomorrow. If you do not receive your invitation in the mail please contact the office.

Mobile Phone Policy We understand there is a need for some students to bring a mobile phone to school for a variety of reasons. If your child brings a mobile phone to school it must be brought to the office on arrival at school. It will then be kept in a secure place for the day. Students are then required to collect their phone at 3pm. We thank you for your support with this matter. Amanda Giles Relieving Principal
