A Note From Our Swim Coach Marissa:

Hi my name is Coach Marissa! This is my 5th season with Creekside. I am looking forward to welcoming back our returning Cudas and getting to know our new Cudas! This season our focus will be “technique 2.0” where we will get into deeper technique work throughout this season. During the off season, I coach for West Coast Aquatics as a year round coach for the Senior Bronze and Age Group Silver groups. I joined West 2 years ago in hopes of learning better coaching techniques and bringing them back to Creekside. My time at West was well spent and I'm glad to be back at Creekside bringing my new experience and knowledge to the team with the new staff. I'm happy to see many new, as well as familiar faces this year and I look forward to the 2016 season! "

The 13th Annual SHARK CITY NATIONALS were held in San Jose on February 27th, 2016. Over 25 Creekside Dragon Cloud students participated in this prestigious event.

Competitors competed in Kata (forms), Kumite (point-fighting) and Kobudo (weapons) divisions. Several students competed in multiple divisions that day and took home more than one trophy for their efforts and participation. Three adult students were also in competition that day participating in forms and fighting.

These dedicated Karate students are amazing! To be able to go to a large event, compete in their divisions, get judged and scored by 3 black belt judges, and show the audience their best, is really an outstanding accomplishment.

Students practice their stances, punches, blocks, power, sequencing, and above all the ability to perform in front of lots of people and to calm their nerves. Students practice “ring etiquette” as well. Students in competition formally bow into the ring. They come up to the judges, stand strong, and say their name, the form they will be performing, and then ask for permission to begin. After they perform, they stay in the ring and the judges hold up score cards, reflecting the total points they received.

Sensei James and Deborah are very proud of these outstanding students who are dedicated to improving their karate skills. Congratulations Dragon Cloud!

Friday, December 18th, 2015, was a cold night. However, that was not enough to prevent the 4th Annual Creekside Neighborhood Holiday Walk from happening. Many families came out to walk the neighborhood, look at the lights and decorations, leave a little Thank You Treat at people’s doorsteps and socialize a bit. The walk started at the house by the bridge and ended at the Cabana Club for hot chocolate and treats. A very big "Thank You" goes out to Mylinh and Ben Chan and family, one of our newest Creekside neighbors. Mylinh organized ordering and getting Christmas trees delivered to the neighborhood for that extra special holiday touch. Many neighbors bought trees for the outside of their own homes while others donated trees and a wreath to decorate the Cabana Club. Thanks to everyone who came out and walked with us as well as those who took the time to decorate their homes. This is what makes Creekside such a great place to live!
