“Caught Doing Something GREAT!

OUR TEAM is happy to the gills!

The employee recognition program is meant to recognize,

reward, and motivate multiple employees for doing great

things here on our Independence Hill campus.

This month’s mystery employee was born in Coahuila, Mexico on

March 19th. Before working at IH she was a caregiver for the

elderly. A good friend of hers referred her to work at

Independence Hill and she has loved it ever since. She’s been here

now for nearly 12 years. When she’s not in uniform you will find

her spoiling her grandchildren, traveling when she can and trying

all sorts of new foods at different restaurants she finds. She is very

religious and enjoys going to church, reading the bible, and

watching her favorite movie, The Passion of the Christ. Her

favorite drink is a Pina Colada and her favorite cooking of course

is authentic Mexican Food (like her Mama used to make). So far,

her favorite vacation was when she visited the cathedral in

Mexico City. However, her dream vacation is to experience

Jerusalem and the Holy

Land and take in all the

spiritual and historic sights

there. When you see her in

the hallway you will al-

ways see a beautiful smile

on her face.

Can you guess this month’s

mystery employee?

The Declaration October 2019

Mystery Resident

We Thank Our First Responders

Making her debut on a very chilly Saturday in February, this month’s mystery resident has come a long way

from her hometown of Hamilton, Ohio. The youngest of three girls, she reminisces on her childhood spent

with her sisters traveling by bus to their grandparent’s home in Florida. Born to a father whose love of all

things history, would lead them on many adventures to Presidential monuments and markings with the

intentions of instilling that American pride in his daughters. With all the history she was taught over the years,

it comes as no surprise that she was able to study hard and become a member of the National Junior Honor

Society in high school. She would later give the exact pin, given to her on induction night, to her

granddaughter 50 years later. After high school, she joined the Air Force and served here in San Antonio, at

the Kelly Air Force base, as a stewardess on the aircrafts that brought back wounded soldiers from the Korean

War, supplies, and other items. This is where she met her husband, the

love of her life, who was a pilot. After three sons, one daughter, and

19 years of marriage, she was widowed and headed down south from

Colorado Springs back to San Antonio, to move into their new family

home in, 1976. After working in the convention center for over 27

years she was able to retire and enjoy her family that grew by nine

grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading,

arts and crafts, and cruising. Her next cruise is scheduled to St. Croix

Island traveling through the Panama Canal. In her future, this traveling

lady sees herself visiting Easter Island and watching the little league

championship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She can be seen on all

the adventures out here at Independence Hill and is usually the first to

every party! Can you guess this month’s mystery resident?
