The Expanding Role of the Project ManagerCompetencies and Skills Required to Succeed

PresentatIOn aBstraCt:The “consumerization of data” is driving companies to develop new products and services at dramatically increasing rates. One result is a dramatic increase in project requests to Information Technology (IT) organizations and a need for speedy delivery of better quality results. These information-rich projects – which can involve new and enhanced products, associated services and improved internal process solutions – require project managers and IT associates to collaborate in business teams that more clearly define business requirements and reduce development time. As a result, project managers must lead IT and business teams to ensure successful projects delivery. To do so often requires project managers to improve strategic business management skills that will help them succeed in a more globally competitive, information-rich environ-ment. This session will present what is driving Project Managers to exhibit strategic busi-ness management skills, why they are important to develop, and the required compe-tencies and skills you need as well as how to measure them.
