EDITORIAL Warrnambool Branch of A.I.G.S. Inc.

This is the first edition of the South West Genealogist for 1997. Comprising two months- worth of the Warrnambool & District Historicals from the "Standard" newspaper, this is a another bumper edition of 12 pages. January and February's historicals from the Warrnambool Standard for 1897 and 1922 are covered in this issue.

Area Administrator: Secretary: Minute Secretary: Treasurer:

Marie Boyce Vacant Aurelin Giles Trudy Funston

Due to space restrictions, the Pioneer Women of Victoria has been omitted this month, but will resume again in the next issue.

Happy researching!

AREA ADMINISTRATOR Dear Members and friends,

The last three months have gone by very quickly and I hope that you all had a happy Christmas and New Year. All went well here, but I could certainly do without this spell of hot weather.

Last year we completed the collection of epitaphs, from 1983 - 1995 inclusive, at the Warrnambool Lawn Cemetery. The Index has now been compiled and is for ficheing. Thanks to all who helped with this important record.

So far there is no specific task in mind for this year, but there are events such as the seminar and open day to organise.

Wishing you all a productive year with your research.

Sincerely, Marie Boyce

Newsletter Subscriptions: $8 per year, includes postage, reviewed annually. *********************

Library Access Changes Regrettably, some changes to library access have had to be made, due to an on-going security problem. Members should have received a letter outlining these changes with their membership renewal form. In brief, the W'bool AlGS resources in the cupboards will only now be assessible by Library Committee Members, who will open the library at set times. Open times will be given in a future edition of this newsletter; in the meantime, Flagstaff Hill has a list of open times. Researchers will only have access to the records when the library is open. Library Access Card holders can research for no extra charge; for other researchers normal research fees apply.
