What is Fellowship? � Koinonia (Koine Greek): sharing

something in common that relates to our relationship with Jesus

� Greeks used this word for partnerships, associations, community, Communion

� Yes: Potlucks, coffee and donuts, ladies luncheons, too

More than Potlucks � 2 Cor. 8:4: “participation or

contribution (koinonia) in support of the the saints.”

� “gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship.” (Gal 2:9)

� “Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?” (1 Cor 10:16)

Bottom Line �  Christian fellowship originates in a unique

sharing of inner realities that we are to express in everyday, practical ways.

�  Christians has a special bond that should lead to special relationships. �  “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us

do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Gal. 6:10)
