November / December 2019 Creating Community Through People, Parks and Programs Greetings! Wow, I can’t believe it is already November! Before we know, it will be the Holidays! This issue of The Scoop is loaded with activities to enjoy such as our first “Friendsgiving Lunch” to celebrate one another and to be grateful for life’s many blessings! We will have a special Crafting with Grandchildren on a Saturday morning to make holiday ornaments. November This and That program takes the mystery out of financial jargon for a better understanding of our investments. Of course, we will once again collaborate with S.O.S. for the Giving Tree and holiday wrapping party. We will mix things up for our Holiday Party with entertainment, singing Christmas carols, hors d’ oeuvres, desserts and refreshments. I am looking forward to see you all dressed up for this fun, festive event! Happy Holidays! Sherry The Giving Tree The Giving Tree will soon be up in the lobby. We will again be collaborating with S.O.S. (Springdale Offering Support) to provide gifts for less fortunate families within our community. We will decorate the tree with ornaments listing a gift wish on the back. If you would like to participate, select an ornament, sign it out at the front desk, purchase the item, and return it unwrapped with the ornament attached to the Springdale Community Center by Monday, December 2. We appreciate everyone’s generosity. We ask you to only purchase the item listed. If you cannot locate the item, please feel free to exchange the ornament. If you would like to add to your own gift, you may choose to purchase a gift card from an area merchant. We will have a wrapping party for the gifts on Wednesday, December 4 at 1 pm. Please let us know if you can help. If you have any questions, call 346-3910. Remembering Loved Ones Who Have

Passed Away Wednesday, November 13 11:30 a.m.

As the holidays approach, we often think of our loved ones who are no longer with us. We want to honor their memory with a “candle light” ceremony to share a memory that makes you smile. Please let Sherry know you are planning to share by calling 346-3910 with the name(s) of those loved ones who have passed away by Monday, November 11.

"Friendsgiving"Lunch

Wednesday, November 13 12:00 p.m.Thanksgiving is a time to express gratitude for all of life’s blessings including being with old and new friends! Cracker Barrel is preparing our meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, rolls and more. We will also have homemade desserts and assorted beverages. Entertainment by Seth Foster classical and jazz guitar music. Cost for this special “Friendsgiving” Lunch is $12.50 for members and $13.50 for non-members. Thanks for your support of the City of Springdale’s 2019 Active Aging Week!We had a record 325+ attendees! The week kicked off with an inspirational and humorous presentation on keeping active and staying positive by Local 12 newscaster Cammy Dierking! Seniors also attended sessions on Emergency

Preparedness, Chili Cook-off, Business Expo & Health fair? “Origin of chocolate” and Esther Price tasting, History of the Cincinnati Zoo, Chair Yoga, Cooking Demo, Smart Driver tech, walkabout, social and entertainment.
