To Ministry for the Future
The Trinity Council, your council, has been in conversation with Holy
Cross/Santa Cruz a Latino Episcopal Congregation, regarding ministry in the
future together. Santa Cruz is led by Father Roberto Maldanado an ordained
Episcopal Priest who in the past served a Lutheran Congregation on the East
Coast. Over the summer and fall Father Roberto and members of his
community have toured the building, met some of the council members and
talked about shared ministry from the Trinity Campus. Father Roberto has
attended staff meetings and met members of the Trinity Council.
So, some of you may be wondering, how this is going to work. Sunday
mornings Trinity will be worshiping at the usual 9:30 am time and Santa Cruz
will worship at 11:30 am. Worship is Bi-lingual and all are welcome to attend
the other’s service. Episcopal worship looks a lot like Lutheran worship so you
will feel right at home. Santa Cruz will have office space and Father Roberto
will be at staff meetings. Down stairs they will have a room set aside for a
chapel (open to anyone), the use of the downstairs fellowship area and the
downstairs kitchen. A calendar has been drawn up so we do not overlap each
other's events. While I know Trinity has rented to a Latino Congregation in
the past, this is more than renting. The leadership of both congregations want
to work together carrying out Jesus command to “go and make disciples of all
nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit”.
