the invocation, and noted that Jina McDaniel had to take her cousin to the Emergency Room, that Mary Mc-Mahonʼs friendʼs mother had passed away, and that Dick Dickson and Charles Delphenis were not feeling well. Please keep them in your prayers. E.G. McMillan led the Pledge of Allegiance and “The Star Spangled Banner.” Charlotte Hudgin, as-sisted by Kendra Yanchak with the mike, introduced our visiting Rotarians and guests. Our guests today included a visiting Rotarian from a town near Manila in The Philippines. Shawn Foster announced The Hub and web advertisers of the week. In accordance with the Bylaws, PP Fred Brown presented the second reading of the proposed slate of offi-
cers for the next Rotary year. He asked for nominations from the floor. There were none. President Cleve gave a special thank you to the staff of the Bachman Rec. Center for ma-
king us feel welcome and for making every-thing work. He also thanked Anne Harper and Mark Kashar for arranging this meeting and DCʼs Catering for providing the lunch. He encouraged members to go experience the playground after the meeting.
PP Karl von Bieberstein began by introducing the Dallas City Council members who had joined us today. He then explained the history of the project. Almost ten years ago a group of RCPC leaders met to decide
had recently completed its award -winning masterplan, called the Renaissance Plan. The plan called for five new playgrounds in various parts of the city. Despite the cost , the club liked the idea of building a playground and re-alized that we had to stretch ourselves if we were to grow. What better way to serve than to complete something unique for the children of Dallas. That began a two year adventure, to conceive, to design, to fundraise and to construct this state-of-the-art playground for children of all abilities. The leadership of the project included PP Karl who designed the playground, PP Phillip Bankhead who led the fundraising, and PP Doug Means who shepherded the construction of the play-ground. After consulting with the Parks Dept. Bachman Lake was chosen because of its proximity to Bachman Rec. Center which pro-vides after school care for disabled children, because there were few playgrounds in the ar-ea, and because of the ideal setting near the lake. The design goes far beyond the require-ments of the American with Disabilities Act.
He introduced City Council Member from District 6, Monica Alonso and City Council Member from District 2, Adam Medrano. Both spoke of the importance of the playground to children and to the area, and thanked RCPC for the opportunity to partner on this project,

THOUGHTS ON . . .
Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence. ~ Robert FrippAfter silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpres-sible is music. ~ Aldous HuxleyMusic is the only language in which you cannot say a mean or sarcastic thing. ~ John ErskineMusic has charms to soothe the savage breast / To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.

Interesting New Thread: We are supposedly a secular organisation. Would members consider a presentation about the existence of God a suitable subject for a Rotary meeting?

A Brit and a Frenchman entered a chocolate shop. As they were looking, the Frenchman stole 3 choco-late bars. As they left the store, the Frenchman said to the Brit, “Man, Iʼm the best thief. I stole 3 choco-late bars and no one saw me. You can't beat that.”
The Brit replied, “You want to see something bet-ter? I'll show you real stealing."
So they went to the store and the Brit said to the shopkeeper, “Do you want to see magic?” The shop-keeper replied, "Yes." The Brit said, "Give me one chocolate bar." The shopkeeper gave him one, and
he ate it. The Brit asked for a second and third bar, and he ate them, too.
The shopkeeper asked, “But is that magic?” The Brit replied, “Check in my friends pocket, and you'll find all three bars of chocolate."
(ʻSA Red Bagʼ cont. from pg 1) came also. These students set an all-time record number of kits assembled - 8,269. The total number of kits as-sembled exceeded 22,000. These "kits" are what you receive at the SA Angel Tree when you adopt an angel. Our Interactors also work the Angel Tree and adopt angels. Gotta love it!
