• Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze issues and opportunities utilizing feedback from stakeholders;

• Contract management including planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and

• Federal and State laws governing funding contract regulations and requirements.

In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated:

• The ability to work collaboratively with staff, commissioners, funders and grantee agencies;

• Previous supervisory experience and the ability to attract, develop and retain staff as well as maintain a high level of performance by effectively utilizing their talents;

• Strong interpersonal, public communication and presentation skills;

• The ability to effectively and professionally communicate to leadership and stakeholders the issues and challenges facing the organization both verbally and in writing; and

• Effective problem-solving skills.

compensAtIonThe salary for the Deputy Chief of Finance/Finance Director is up to $130,000 annually, depending upon qualifications and depth of experience. FIRST 5 offers an attractive benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, life and long-term disability insurance, a 401(a) retirement plan, and a deferred 457 plan with an employer match. In addition, they offer 12 paid holidays, 4-weeks paid vacation (with potential maximum payout accrual of 240 hours after 3 years of service), 10 paid sick days, 3 personal days, 3 volunteer days, tuition reimbursement ($3,500/year) and a robust employee wellness program.

The successful candidate will possess broad knowledge of the methods and practices of public-sector accounting as well as the ability to communicate financial data and information in an accessible manner to executives, stakeholders, Commissioners and the public. This position works with a variety of stakeholders; therefore, the ability to collaborate, partner and develop solutions, networks and alliances that represent the agency’s interests and foster an inclusive, diverse and engaging workplace is critical.
