our newest initiative to enhance
the communication at North
Colonie.
The Inside Resource is a periodic
newsletter which will identify
items of interest, upcoming events,
benefits information and general
information relevant to our
employees.
In our continued efforts to go
green, The Inside Resource
will be distributed
electronically, with limited
copies printed for those
employees who dont have
email.
We will also maintain an
archive of newsletters on the
intranet. We hope that you find
the information presented both
helpful and informative.

MeetYour Human Resources TeamThe Human
Resources Department is

the employment

facilitating the recruiting
and hiring process,
administration of
benefits, fieldingquestions on all things
employment related,
ensuring the District is in
compliance with labor
laws, training on HR related topics
and generally being a resource for
employees when they need guidance
and direction, the HR Department is
a resource for you.
The HR Department is headed
byMrs.JennaBongermino,SPHR
who joined the team in 2009. Jenna
brings 16 years of Human Resourcesexperience to the District and is
responsible for ensuring that the
mission of the department is
fulfilled. While Jenna has vast
knowledge in all facets of HR, her
specialty is employee relations and
working with employees to find
creative solutions to issues. She is
also the inhouse resource for
tenure, seniority and certification
questions. Jennas extension is 3133.
When you visit the HR
office, JaneDawsonis the firstperson to greet you. Jane has
been with North Colonie since
2003 in various clericalpositions, including building
secretary at Shaker Junior High
and a secretary in the Assistant
Superintendents Office. Someof Janes numerous
responsibilities includeassisting those interested in
applying for jobs, posting job
openings, scheduling andmeeting with new employees,
preparing the personnel actions
for the Board agendas andanswering employee questions.
Jane welcomes every call and
visitor to the HR office with a
smile and a friendly voice. Feel

DottieBovardhas been
with North Colonie since
the HR Dept opened inFebruary 2009.
Dottie is an experienced
Human Resources
Generalist and is
primarily responsible forbenefits, leave
administration, Civil
Service issues, newemployee orientation and
the daytoday
organization of the HR
Department workload.
When youre not sure who to
contact, Dottie is a good personto call at ext. 3123. If she cant
answer your question, shell
find out who can.
EllenHahn,at Ext. 3109,has worked for the District
since 1988 and is our retiree
liaison. She knows each of
our retirees personally andensures that their insurance
needs are met. Ellen goes out
of her way for them and has
been known to visit theretirees at their homes when
she hasnt been able to contact
them by phone. Ellen is alsoresponsible for part of the new
hire process including
fingerprinting and taking
employee photographs.

MEDEXTravel Assist Benefit
Do you have a professional teaching certificate
and are worried about tracking the 175
professional development hours? Never fear!
The District is on the verge of launching new
tracking software called PDP Timekeeper which
will give you an automated way to track your PDP
hours. In addition, the system will automatically
send the information over to State Ed each year.
Keep you ears open for the launching of the
software and training. Until then, any questions,
please call Jenna Bongermino at ext. 3133.
HAZ COM & ANTI-HARASSMENT TRAINING
All employees are required to attend
Haz Com and Anti-Harassment training
annually. If you havent attended a
training session for the 2011-2012
school year yet, please mark your
calendar and attend one of the following
sessions, held at Central Office:
