SHSAT Registration Forms

• ONLY for the 8 specialized high schools & La Guardia High School audition.

• They were due already, but if your child did not return it, they can still give it in to me.

• Also, audition schools that require pre-registration are on the back.

SHSAT & La Guardia Tickets• Are released on October 22, 2014.

• The audition schools other than La Guardia do not send tickets. You must go to the school website or page in the High School directory. The dates for Bronx auditions are listed there.

• Your child will receive their receipt for testing this week.

TACHS Exam

• If your child has registered for the exam, you will have a page entitled “Applicant Record” which must be given to me.

• It lists the 3 schools your child wished to apply to and I send your child’s records to the school.

• Deadline to register is October 20, 2014

• 84% received an offer to one of their top five choices

• Students who list between 7 and 9 choices on their application get a

match between 85-90% of the time.

• Your child will receive a letter with their high school admission results.

• Each child receives 1 match.• Results of Specialized HS is also on the letter,

listed separately.• At that point, you either accept the match or

reject it & go to Round 2. Once rejected, it is no longer available to you.

No Match

• All children get a letter. If your child’s letter says “no match” next to the High School section, they are officially in Round 2.

• Along with your letter will be a list of available school programs and new schools.

• You will also receive information on a Round 2 fair.

• You will fill out a new application and submit.

By the End of Round 2

All children will receive a match to a NYC High School.

Appeals Process

• An appeals form must be requested from me.

• Only 3 acceptable reasons to appeal…– Travel Hardship (75 Minutes or more)– Error in Data Entry– Interested in a new school opening in September
