At current prices, the Gross StateDomestic Product (GSDP) of Uttarakhandwas about US$ 18.2 billion in 2011-12.

The tertiary sector’s share in GSDP was52.8 per cent in 2011-12. Trade, hotelsand restaurants – the largest sub-group ofthe sector – registered a growth of 12.1 percent over the previous year.
The secondary sector had fastest growthof 22.7 per cent followed by tertiarysector (20.8 per cent) and primarysector (12.2 per cent) between 2004-05 to 2011-12.

Sugarcane, wheat, rice and potato arethe key agricultural products of the state.
In 2011-12, the total food grain productionof the state was around 1.85 million tonnes.
Sugarcane is the major crop in thestate with production of about 6.59 milliontonnes in 2011-12.
The production of oilseeds and pulsesduring the year 2011-12 was estimated tobe 31,000 tonnes and 49,000 tonnes,respectively.

Total road net work in the state was 36,614.2 kmin 2010-11. According to Ministry of RoadTransport & Highways, National Highwaysrunning through the state had a total length of 2,042km.
State Highways length was 3,788 km, Majordistrict road length was 3,321.9 km and village roadstotaled to 13,282.2 km in the state, as of 2010-11.
As of October 2012, there were three PublicPrivate Partnership (PPP) projects in the road sectorthat are under construction.

Uttarakhand had 345 km of rail routes in2010-11.
The state is focusing on increasing theshare of railways in cargo and passengertransport.
Initiatives have been made to startmonorails at Dehradun, Haridwar andRishikesh, on the inter-cit y linkage routes.

The state has two domestic air ports: one atJolly Grant in the Dehradun district and another atPant Nagar in the Udham Singh Nagar district.
All f lights connect the state to Delhi.
Up-gradation work has been completed at the JollyGrant air port with the coordination of Airport Authority of India.
Because of the hilly terrain, the Governmenthas proposed the construction of at least, onehelipad per district.
The state intends to position air-transport as areliable all-weather transport option for the hills.

As of January 2013, the state had a powergeneration installed capacity of 2,556.56 MWwhich consisted of 1,422.97 MW understate utilities, 718.54 MW under centreutilities and 415.05 MW under private sector.
The power generation installed capacity inthe state has increased from 2,383.00MW in 2008-09 to 2,556.56 MW in 2012-13*.
The state is in the process ofimplementing and testing the publicprivate partnership model in the powersector.
As of July 2012, the state had achieved 98.9per cent of village electrification.

Uttarakhand is being developed as an‘Energy State’ to tap its huge Hydro ElectricPower (HEP) potential of approximately25,450 MW.
Uttarakhand has also supported thedevelopment of alternate sources of powergeneration such as solar energy andenergy from bio-gas plants. A state-levelenergy park has also been established inDehradun.
Industry is a major power consumptionsegment followed by domestic consumersin the state.

The state has a well-developed communicationnetwork including both wired and wireless-connectivity.
According to Telecom Regulator y Authority ofIndia (TR AI), the state had 1.83 million^ wire-line subscribers and 120.31 million^ wirelesssubscribers, as of December 2012.
As of December 2011, the state had 481 telephoneexchanges.

• SIDCUL, a Government of Uttarakhand enterprise, was incorporated as alimited company in 2002. It has equity participation from the Union Bank of India(UBI), the Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and Small Industries DevelopmentBank of India (SIDBI).
• SIDCUL functions as the nodal agency of the state to administer all existingGovernment of India (GoI) and Government of Uttarakhand schemes forindustrialisation and industrial promotion. The corporation provides the industrialunits with the requisite information and guides them on the approvals needed forpotential investors. It is a multipurpose company for industrial promotioninvestment and infrastructure development.
