Taylor Middle School Pancake Breakfast
Strength in Numbers The Millbrae Lions enjoyed a day of service at the Taylor Middle School Pancake Breakfast on Saturday February 9th. This was the first pancake breakfast fundraiser for Taylor in recent memory. The weather cleared for the day for a beautiful day and a wonderful fundraiser. The event was one of the smoothest that I have been a part of in my ten years as a Millbrae Lion. The pancakes were cooked by Lion Gary Pellegrini, and sausages were prepared by Lions EJ Pena, Rob DuCote, and Bob Bourque. Lion Gary Pellegrini made “artistic” pancakes and was thoroughly “supervised.” At the end of the day over 400 people were served with delicious sausages and pancakes. There was also a raffle at the event. Due to ticket sales and the raffle more than $7,000 was raised. The net funds raised through the Pancake Sales and Raffle Prize Sales will help address some of the technology gaps to help provide the best possible school experience for the 850 Taylor Students. Thanks to Lion Anthony and his expert trailer maneuvers fitting the Lions Trailer into a small courtyard. Thanks to all that served, including Lions: PP Lynn Clinton, Asst. Tres. Oscar Loza, Bob Bourque, PP Calvin Chin, Ed Musa, Pres. Bart Speccia, John Celentano, PP Bruce Sutter, Director Anthony Caccia, Frank Barbaro, and Mike Mullins. Special thanks to Millbrae Lions Candidate Tom Williams for helping out all morning. Thanks also to the Taylor Middle School PTA community, and their friends. There was delightful School and Community Spirit at this Fundraising event. It seems like we may have a blueprint for an event that can be replicated in future school years. A special shout out goes to Taylor PTA President Suji Chang and the Taylor School Parent Volunteers.

Lions Clubs Code of Ethics
• To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
• To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
• To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
• Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
• To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
• Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means.
• To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
• To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
Lions Clubs Objectives
• To CREATE and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
• To UNITE the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship, and mutual understanding.
• To TAKE an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.
• To PROMOTE the principles of good government and good citizenship.
• To ENCOURAGE service minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

LIONS BRING HOLIDAY SPIRIT TO MILL
CPR Saturday – Helping People in Millbrae
To Help Others There was a great turn out for CPR Saturday on February 2, 2019. The special event is the creation of Lion Frank Barbaro. Mr. Barbaro a Millbrae Elementary School District Trustee is striving to get as many people as possible to learn how to administer CPR. Barbaro was stricken by a heart attack in 2017. He received CPR treatment from his daughters Natasha and Mariah until first responders arrived. Mr. Barbaro is now fully recovered. He has spent a great deal of time considering how to show appreciation to those that helped him. The event celebrates first responders and is also designed to educate the public about CPR techniques. There were 2 classes were held at the Carolyn Shea Center for our Millbrae Citizens to learn the importance of CPR. The first class was an introduction of CPR while the 2nd class was the actual CPR certification. Lion Steve Henderson, a teacher in the San Mateo Union High School District is excited about the potential of getting the student-centered CPR instruction which Mills High School has over to his school site, Aragon. “It’s a great program; Makes so much sense to be sure that kids in our district have these skills”. Many Movers and Shakers of Millbrae (Millbrae Elementary School District, Mills High School, Millbrae CERT, Red Cross, Central County Fire Department were on hand. The Millbrae Lions Club provided the healthy breakfast to start off the day. Many helped put together this important community event that will help save lives.
