THE FOUR-WAY TEST Is it the TRUTH? Is it Fair to all concerned? Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY The OBJECT of ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recogni-tion of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and dignifying of each Ro-tarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society. THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life. FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

DECLARATIONS OF ROTARINS IN BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS

1. CONSIDER my vocation to be another opportunity to serve.

of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral

standards of my community.

A Background on Global Grant GG1419455 -

School Based Livelihood Program

The objective of this project is to provide a source of income

for the school to generate revenues to support various school

programs especially a feeding program; to provide opportuni-

ties for teachers, students and parents to learn skills on food

preparations which can be used to generate income; and to sup-

port the K-12 program of the Department of Education that will

introduce vocational courses such as food preparation to stu-

dents in years 11 and 12.

The main need addressed is the alleviation of poverty by of-

fering the beneficiaries the opportunity to learn skills that they

can use to generate income. Parents who are still mostly unem-

ployed housewives can now use idle time productively to learn

cooking skills to generate income. Teachers will also be able to

teach their household members to do the same as the parent.

Students will be given career guidance and learn a vocation in a

shorter time to be enable them to find employment sooner.

This Culinary Center is expected to benefit about 200 teachers,

about 2,000 students in years 11 and 12, and the parents repre-

senting the Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales

(MPNAG) community.

MPNAG was identified as having the space to house the equip-

ment and resources from stakeholders and local government to

sustain the operations. The school was chosen by the school

division of Mandaluyong to implement the food preparation

courses under the new K-12 program of the Philippines Depart-

ment of Education. The principal, teachers and division school

officials have been involved in the planning of the needed

equipment, as well as have provided the room to house the

equipment, plan the courses to be offered, purchase the ingredi-

ents, maintain and upkeep the equipment, and pay for the elec-

tricity and water bills. Various stakeholders were also sent to

formal training under a train-the-trainer component of the pro-

gram.

Rotarians have built the center, selected the equipment, pro-

vided project management and advisory services, and have

guided the implementation. In addition, members of the Rotary

Club of Mandaluyong are members of MPNAG School Gov-

erning Council.

Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Kowloon Golden

Mile, The Rotary Club of Kiryu West, Rotary District 3800,

and the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong provided funding for this

center. This center would not have been possible without this

spirit of cooperation between the local community and these

various Rotary clubs.

The cooperation between Rotarians and the MPNAG commu-

nity fulfill the focus of Rotary International on sustainable eco-

nomic and community development, and provide a continuing

opportunity to develop employment prospects and income-

generating skills.
