know.
“Our Primitive Mind”
The Nature of the Unconscious Mind
from a time before verbal Language and Intellect
The Nature of the Unconscious Mind
deals in Sensory Perceptions
• Refers to Mental Images, Sounds, Smells … from our Experience, or Imagination
• Makes Associationscompares - recognizes
• Understands Metaphorand its underlying meanings
• Stores information practically in unlimited capacity

Time flexibility / distortion
• Doesn’t necessarily represent events
either in chronological order
or even in logical order
• As if time is immaterial

Understands only what ‘is’
Cannot understand the concept of the ‘Negative’
It must ‘first’ call up the Mental Representation of what ‘is’ before our
Conscious Mind can intervene and ‘reason’ the ‘absence’ of that object, person,
feeling, etc.
The Nature of the Unconscious Mind
The Nature of the Unconscious Mind
Understands only what ‘is’
I invite you NOT (not) tothink of a pinky-purpleyVolksWagen Beetle in a
Hippy design
I bet you managed “NOT” to … right?
Unable to differentiate between
‘Actual’ & ‘Imagined’
The Nature of the Unconscious Mind
Everything that happens on the ‘outside’ is Internally Represented (after being Filtered)in our Mental Cinema – where our reality happensImagine having a Nightmare … or even a dream, for that matter … to understand how these are considered to be “real” by our Unconscious Mind.
Memory is not alwaysa reliable record of events
Filters and Subjectivity
The Nature of the Memory
Memory may be alteredand influenced (patchwork)
Confabulation – Replacing the Gaps
in a person’s memory by falsification believed to be true
Our Past affects our Present
by affecting our Mental “Filters”
creating particularresponses to
situationsand so, new
Memories (adding to our Past)
Our ‘Past’ isn’t necessarily
exactly the same as our ‘Memories’
reminder
but our Memoriesare our ‘Reality’.
We cannot change the Pastbut New
Perspectives or a Different
Context,New Information,
New Understanding,
… may change its Meaning,
how it continues to affect us.

Bringing about Changea simple process
1. Know what You ‘want’Make sure it is possible / achieveable
2. Accept what ‘is’Do NOT deny the ‘reality’ of your situation
3. ‘Let go’ of your presentDo NOT let your ‘present’ circumstances deny you the Change you want.
Bringing about Change
‘Let go’ of your present Before you untie yourself from
‘what is’ you cannot sail to ‘what will be’
Bringing about Change
1. Know what You ‘want’Make sure it is possible / achieveable
2. Accept what ‘is’Do NOT deny the ‘reality’ of your situation
3. ‘Let go’ of your presentDo NOT let your ‘present’ circumstances deny you the Change you want.
4. Move Forward towards Your OutcomeFocus on what you ‘want’
• Our Unconscious Mind is our “Primitive” Mind
• It takes care of all our “automatic” bodily functions
• It deals in and stores sensory information
So, let’s summarise:
• Our Unconscious Mind does not necessarily represent events chrono/logically
• It deals only in ‘what is’ and cannot understand negatives.
• It cannot differentiate between ‘real’ and ‘imagined’ events
So, let’s summarise:
• Memory is not always a reliable record … it is selective, may be altered, and may contain
“confabulations” – Made up events to fill any gaps in recalled information.
So, let’s summarise:
• Our Past affects our Present.
• We cannot change the Past
but certain factors can change our Perception and Understanding of it, e.g. Perspective/Context, New Information, etc.
So, let’s summarise:
• The Process of Change
1. Know what You ‘want’2. Accept what ‘is’3. ‘Let go’ of your present4. Move Forward towards Your
Outcome
So, let’s summarise:
• It is possible to change the way we react towards our Pastin our Present circumstances.
• This was only a very brief overview
Conclusion:
Do you need help to identify what you really (really) want?
Want to get assistance in overcoming whatever is blocking you?
Are you ready to bring about that change?
