Standards Committee through its Subcommittee on National Flag. It was approved
by the Standards Council on 28 March 2019 and was notified in the Government
Gazette on 27 April 2019*.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition MS 1-1:2011 (including
Amendment 1:2013) which has been technically revised.

The National Flag – Specifications IMPORTANT — The colours represented in Annex A can be neither viewed on screen nor printed as true representations. It is not intended that these printed copies be used for colour matching. 1 Scope
This Mauritian Standard establishes the materials, design and make of the three types of the National Flag* of the Republic of Mauritius. The three types of the National Flag are as follows:
a) Mast Flag b) Desk Flag/ Hand held Flag c) Car Flag
* ‘National Flag’ is referred to as ‘The Flag’ throughout the document.

3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply: 3.1 acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant. 3.2 base a pedestal for the pole of a desk flag and, when relevant, for the pole of a hand-held flag. 3.3 desk flag a flag complete with pole, finial and base. 3.4 mast flag a flag intended for flying on a flagpole and that is subject to weathering. 3.5 finial an ornamental termination at the top of a flagpole. 3.6 fly the free end of a flag. 3.7 hand-held flag a flag with a pole having neither a base nor a finial. 3.8 heading/sleeve
