Day 3 Today we travel to the only Zebra Rock Mine in the world, and you can witness with your own eyes a deposit of unique and mysterious rock. Geologists are yet to determine its origin but know it all evolved 600 million years ago. Zebra Rock could only ever be found here in the East Kimberley, and we will head out to the mining site. Choose your own small favourite rock to take home. We watch how the rock is polished and creates such wonderful pieces of art. View the gallery of special rocks after lunch and there are also some fabulous jewellery or raw deposits to buy.

We drive back to Kununurra and a local indigenous guide will take us on a tour of Mirriwoong art, culture, and history. Hear about dreamtime stories, taste home-made damper, and bush foods before listening to a didgeridoo performance overlooking your first Kimberley sunset in Mirima National Park. also known as Hidden Valley National Park or the Mini Bungle Bungles with its 350-million-year-old rock formations. Day 4 The Kimberley region is home to an array of wonderful landscapes and another full day of stunning scenery awaits us on our tour today. We start with a 70-kilometre informative coach tour to Lake Argyle along one of Australia’s most scenic drives. At Lake Argyle we will drop by the historic Durack Homestead Museum before visiting the Lake Argyle Resort and Infinity Pool. After a brief comfort stop, we will board the Kimberley Durack, for our awe inspiring 3-hour Lake Argyle Luncheon cruise including a swim in the pristine waters.

We return by a spectacular boat cruise down the Ord River through Carlton Gorge, where we will enjoy stunning scenery and an array of wildlife, including crocodiles, flying foxes and birdlife. We take a truly short drive back to our hotel. Kununurra 4.5Star Freshwater Apartments, CCB, SBOL, RD

Day 5 Today we travel through open grasslands and vast floodplains towards Fitzroy Crossing. On route we stop in Halls Creek at one of the best information centres in the area. Finally, we make our way to Fitzroy River Lodge, check in and join back for a delicious group dinner. Fitzroy River Lodge, Ensuited Safari Tents, CCB, PL, RD

Day 6 After some early starts, enjoy a leisurely morning and breakfast today. Geikie Gorge was formed by the Fitzroy River and the level of the river during the Kimberley wet season can rise by up to 16.5 metres. The limestone walls where originally formed by a coral reef, algae and lime secreting organisms that are now extinct. Therefore, the remains of the reef now stand up to 100 metres above the plains as the mighty Fitzroy courses through them.

Geikie Gorge is the best example of the Devonian time, and we will take a fabulous cruise exploring the wonderful gorge and natural habitat of freshwater crocodiles. After lunch there is time for a refreshing swim in the Fitzroy River before our journey to Derby, a town in the West Kimberley with the largest tidal movements in the southern hemisphere. The next three nights are spent at the Spinifex Hotel. Derby 4Star Spinifex Hotel, CCB, PL, RD

Day 7 Today we have a full day to explore Derby and its surrounds. Just on the outskirts of Derby we find the famous Boab Prison Tree, which is believed to be over 1,500 years old. Not far from here, you can see the historic water trough which could water 500 bullocks at a time without running dry. The Mowanjum Indigenous Art and Culture Centre is well worth a visit. It features authentic Aboriginal Art from the Mowanjum Community and out-stations.

After lunch and back in town we drive to the Wharfinger's House Museum and the Norval Art Gallery. This gallery is run by the Kimberley artists Mark and Mary. You will find amazing artwork here including a wonderful and unique collection of carved boab tree nuts. Now it is time to head to the Derby jetty. Derby is located on the edge of the King Sound with the highest tides of any Australian port. The beaches are not golden silky sand but mudflats, mangroves, and swamps. We will set up our deck chairs and click away at the rush of the tidal water coming in. At dinner we talk about our big and exciting day ahead. Derby 4Star Spinifex Hotel, FB, PL, RD

Day 8 A fabulous day ahead of us today. Step on board a turbo prop seaplane and enjoy a morning flight directly to the Horizontal Falls. Experience the thrill of riding through the falls on the fastest boat in the Kimberley. With our heart rate back to normal we cruise through the spectacular untouched surrounding bays and creeks. We have lunch on board a fixed luxury vessel, followed by a swim in the croc and shark free cage. We will discover that time really does slowdown in the Kimberley.

After lunch we will head back out to see the tidal changes at the Horizontal Falls. With cameras ready for stunning photographs, we take a low-level scenic flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago and King Sound as we return to Derby. Enjoy some down time in Derby, do a little shopping or how about writing some traditional postcards. Derby 4 Star Spinifex Hotel, FB, SBOL, RD

Day 9 We leave Derby and head out to the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park. The park is a refuge home to some of the most dangerous crocs and was a dream come true for Malcom Douglas who produced famous adventure and documentary films for over 40 years. From here Broome is only a 15-minute drive away. Enjoy lunch and a beer tasting at Matso’s brewery, known for its flavourful drinks and relaxed atmosphere.

The Kimberley region is home to some amazing pearls, and we learn about the history and pearl production during the Pearl Lugger Tour in town. You will also find a great display of pearls and gifts in the showroom. We check into our rooms at the Oaks Broome. Relax, refresh, or have a swim in the pool before we meet up for a drive to Cable Beach. Enjoy a stroll along the popular beach and soak up the scenery during sunset or watch a camel train go past. Our dinner is served at Zanders a popular restaurant located at Cable Beach. Oaks Hotel Broome, FB, BL, RD

Day 10 On our final day we explore the Dampier Peninsula including its northernmost part in the Kimberley called Cape Leveque. Enjoy morning tea at the Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community and visit the Sacred Heart Church with its wonderful pearl and shell altar, often referred to as the Mother of Pearl. We continue our journey to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, the oldest continuously working pearl farm in Australia. Take part in an informative tour before lunch at the local Cygnet Bay Restaurant.

Our next stop is One Arm Point home to the Trochus Hatchery and Aquaculture Centre. Learn about the culture and saltwater traditions of the Bardi Jawi, the traditional owners of the area. And here you can marvel at the stunning views of the Buccaneer Archipelago from the ground. We then head to Cape Leveque or locally known as Kooljaman. Stroll along the white sandy beach and enjoy the views of turquoise waters and the amazing red cliff coastline that Cape Leveque is known for. After a fabulous day exploring the Dampier Peninsula we return to Broome by air. We arrive around 5pm and finish our Kimberley Tour with a final group dinner at the Oaks Hotel.
