problem solving, thinking
critically and creatively, act-
ing with integrity and empa-
thy, understanding them-
selves and others, collaborat-
ing and imagining to bring
ideas together and a strong
sense of self.
21st century education is a
change from what we our-
selves experienced but it is a
change that we welcome.
Ask yourself how developed
are your skills in these are-
as . I believe our little learn-
ers could teach us all many
valuable lessons and those
of us who are privileged to
share our days with them
reap the rewards.
Keep smiling!
Thank you to those family
and friends who shared our
Book Week/Education Week
celebration.
What a fabulous show of
support for Parker, Emily,
Phoebe, Charlotte, Amy and
Nick and for our award recip-
ients; Mrs Sue Lyons, Mrs
Gladys Lordanic, Mrs Pam
Lock, Mrs Tracey Worth, Mrs
Jenny Bullen, Mrs Beth Hig-
gins and Mrs Gail Callaghan.
Public recognition for the
support these community
members and staff offer our
school is an opportunity for
the children and I to show our
appreciation.
I know I say this every year
but I need to say it again….I
love Term 3. If you could see
our little learners so en-
grossed in their learning and
so determined to get better
each and every day you
would feel as Tracey and I
do. Ecstatic!
It really is the most exhilarat-
ing feeling to look at Parker,
Emily, Phoebe, Charlotte,
Amy and Nick’s faces and
hear them encouraging each
other as they work and to sit
with them as we review what
they have achieved.
So what kind of people do we
want our little learners to be?
In schools of today we need
to be future focused and rec-
ognise that school is part of a
much bigger picture. We want
our students to have a strong
knowledge base in key disci-
plines and to develop and
grow as a whole person.
They need skills, capabilities
and behaviours that they can
use within and beyond
school. These include
skills of communication,

Everyone has enjoyed shar-
ing the book The Day the
Crayons Quit . They are now
working on a multimodal text
using the Chatter Kids app
on the Ipads. This app allows
the students to record 30
seconds of information, take
a photo, animate the charac-
ter by giving it a mouth that
moves and type in text. Multi-
modal is exactly that, pre-
senting text in a variety of
forms. So far Parker, Emily,
Phoebe and Charlotte have
written down some very per-
suasive arguments as to why
their colour is over worked and
deserves a better deal. Nick
and Amy have completed
some great drawings and are
working on telling me their ide-
as. We look forward to showing
parents the completed ver-
sions, as well as creating a
concertina book with the writ-
ten forms.
Happy Birthday Mrs Lock
There was much excitement as the children made icing and then decorat-
ed Mrs Lock’s cake with frogs.
A special cake for a special friend and teacher.
Mrs Lock even managed to blow out all of her 9 candles.
My Special Day Out
On Tuesday Charlotte, Phoebe and I went to Lou’s house. We played with the puppies.
Lou had picked us up from school.
Amy - Kinder
On Tuesday we went to Ag-Quip. We waited in the car because daddy was paying the bills.
Mummy said “It will take five minutes to get to Ag-Quip. “ We finally got to Ag-Quip. We
jumped out of the car. We walked to the gate. First we saw some horses. Then I saw a
baby horse. I saw a big shed. Then we looked at motor bikes, one fit me! Then we saw
lots of fish. Blake wanted to see the trucks, but mum said no! I was getting hungry, lucky
mum packed us recess. I had a muesli bar. Then we looked at tractors. Then we went to
see some more stuff. We got new hats, they are made of straw. We got a new football. I
paid one dollar for a football.
Emily - Year 3
On Tuesday we went to Louie’s house. When we got to Louies we went straight to the pup-
pies. There used to be four puppies, some puppies went to new homes, some puppies
died. Three puppies stayed at Louies. We have our own puppies. Amy’s puppy is a girl
puppy, it is a fat puppy. Phoebe’s puppy is a little boy. My puppy is a little girl. Amy’s pup-
py is called Fat Fat. Phoebe’s puppy is called Tom Tom. My puppy is called Lilly.
Charlotte - Year 1
On Tuesday we went to Ag-Quip. We saw some fish.
Nick - Kinder
On the weekend we went to Sydney to Luna Park. Luna Park is at North Sydney. When we
got to Sydney we went straight to Luna Park. At Luna Park it was very busy because there
were hardly any car parks left. So we went around and around and then I found one be-
cause there was a car that was leaving. So we went around one more time because it takes
a while to get the other car’s seat belts on. They left and we got the car park and it was
hard to park in there. We got out and went to the elevator. When we got in there we
pressed the button and it took us up to Luna Park. We had to go in the line to get the
bands.
