After living with the devastating effects of Covid-19 for over a year now, plans and visions have had to change and make way for a new w a y o f l i v i n g . W i t h t h e Liggiefees@Potch unable to take place last year, management had to identify new income sources and applying for funding was an obvious choice.

The decision was made to apply

Once the application was submitted, we received the news that the Old Mutual Foundation had already allocated all available funds for 2020. But they promised our application would be considered in the new year and they delivered! l! With 2020 being such a turbulent year, we thought it would be a good idea to go big on Valentine’s Day this year and celebrate love! The latest addition to our team, Marne Coetzee, suggested we have a ‘decorate your door’ competition for the office staff and children. The idea was to decorate your door and show the world your greatest passions in life requiring scissors, paper, string and a
whole lot of enthusiasm. It was quite a joy to walk through the office and the children’s houses on Friday, the 12th of February as paper hearts fluttered as love swept through the children’s home. Caro and Lezandre’s doors were deemed the most creative and Alfa and Betel were crowned girls and boys winners respectively. Prizes ultimately meant nothing as we all join one another in celebrating life and love!

Valentine’s DANCE puts Abraham Kriel kids in a love TRANCE!
The annual Valentine’s ‘sokkie’
is always something to remember and the 2021
edition will - without a doubt - go down as one of the best.
The hall was transformed into a fairytale of love and romance as our children danced the night away sur- rounded by fairy lights and balloons
enough to capture anyone’s heart. A Mr & Miss Valentine’s king and queen
were also crowned as the love struck spectators encouraged the participants
as they strutted their stuff on stage. Precious finally proved to be the ultimate
Queen of Hearts and Keagan the King. Tannie Madeleen and Annalie deserve a
special mention for all their hard work and determination to make this year’s dance a HUGE success! Thank you for
sharing the love with our kids - MWAH! We look forward to always making
a huge fuss of Valentine’s Day because LOVE CONQUERS ALL!

Why Abraham Kriel?

Ons het besluit om ons viervoetige vriende by PAWS - Potch Animal Welfare Society net af in die straat te gaan besoek met heerlike handgemaakte hondekoekies of "Pupcakes" soos wat ons dit noem. Drie van ons kindertjies kon nie wag om die koekies uit te
weereens die spesiale band tussen mense deel aan die honde nie.Hierdie het vir ons

Beide Ford Daly en Happy Home Properties het ons toegerus met 'n verskeidenheid van skryfbehoeftes wat ons kinders, jonk en oud, gaan help gedurende hierdie skooljaar. Nog 'n lekker opvoedkundige donasie wat ons ontvang het was vanaf Milady's Potchefstroom en De Wilge Manskoshuis, hierdie twee instansies het vir ons 'n bakkievrag vol boeke gestuur – met hierdie aantal boeke kan niemand kla dat hulle verveeld is hierdie jaar nie.
'n Donasie wat ons sommer alreeds in die maand van Februarie opgewonde gemaak het vir kersfees en Liggiefees was die van Geroldine. Hierdie pragtige kersversierings wat sy geskenk het laat ons alreeds groot droom van Liggiefees 2021. Ons is dankbaar vir elke skenking!

Wessel van der Merwe, a keen supporter of Abraham Kriel, got his colleagues to each chip in and buy stationery for the children’s home to the value of R1 700. It didn’t take long for the sales
executive either - within a few hours he delivered bags of Pritt glue, highlighters, brown paper, rulers, you name it! Thank you Daly Ford, our kids are well
on their way to making a huge success of this academic year thanks to donations like yours!
I t was just the other day when Ofce Manager Florah made a comment, something along the lines: “It’s about time someone has a baby in the ofce”.
The mommy-to-be is feeling great although battling severe bouts of morning sickness. But we all reminded her that this too shall pass! The Schoen’s paw patrol trio - Teddie, Daisy and Sharkie - aren’t too sure about this new arrival having been the babies in the house for so long. But we’re sure once that little pink foot makes his or her arrival, these four-legged darlings will be dishing plenty of licks and kisses out! NEWS JUST IN: It’s a boy!
Well, her wish has come true because social worker Caro and her husband Armand are expecting their rst child in August!

came out and supported us big time. Our kids had an Easter Egg hunt they’ll never forget!
Die Paasnaweek het gekom en gegaan, en te danke aan verskeie supermarkte, organisasies en individue kon ons kinders 'n prettige paar dae geniet. Hierdie langnaweek het aktiwiteite soos 'n besoek van die paashaas en 'n baie opwindende paaseiersoektog op Sondag ingesluit. Ons wil graag vir Megasave Potchefstroom, Pick 'n Pay (West Acres Centre), SPAR Baillie Park, Kitso Ya Boleng, Dis-Chem (MooiRivier Mall) en Colette Lotz bedank vir hul bydrae. Ons het byna 1500 paaseiers ontvang waaraan ons kinders vir dae lank gesmul het. Dankie Potchefstroom - julle vrygewigheid beteken die wêreld vir ons!
Te danke aan The Courier Guy Potchefstroom vier ons Paasfees 'n paar dae langer! Tien bokse propvol sjokolade eiertjies, hasies en malvalekkers was vanoggend by ons afgelewer en ons kinders lek alreeds hulle lippe af. Dankie vir hierdie heerlike verrassing Courier Guy, julle laat ons harte warm klop.

Maart-maand het ons Maatskaplike Werk Maand met groot trots gevier! By Abraham Kriel is ons bevoorreg om nie net een nie, maar vier besonderse Maatskaplike werkers as deel van ons span te hê. Hierdie pragtige dames verryk ons kinders se lewens op 'n daaglikse basis en ons het besluit om hulle te bederf met 'n Foot Peel Pedi by Royal Tree Spa vir hulle harde werk.

lockdown a year ago. Reporter Kea wanted to find out
how Covid-19 had impacted us and together with her
cameraman Tumi, they were shown the ropes as we took
them on a tour of our home. Principal Christie Saayman
handled all their questions like a pro followed by
Childcare Supervisor Alec and our Marketing/PR assistant
Marné. Things went rather smoothly and all the
butterflies were soon a thing of the past! The insert was
featured on SABC News (channel 404 on Dstv all day on
the 26th). Well done team, you are all superstars.

Lugkadette het aan die begin van 2020 afgeskop met weeklikse lesse wat handel oor die lugmag, kennis oor vliegtuie, werksgeleenthede, hoe om 'n vlag te hys, hoe om te salueer en vele meer. As gevolg van Covid-19 kon die Lugkadette nie bymekaarkom nie, maar vanaf 16 Februarie 2021 het die weeklikse lesse hervat. Nie net is daar weeklikse lesse nie, maar die dogters is ook ten

Beide Ford Daly en Happy Home Properties het ons toegerus met 'n verskeidenheid van skryfbehoeftes wat ons kinders, jonk en oud, gaan help gedurende hierdie skooljaar. Nog 'n lekker opvoedkundige donasie wat ons ontvang het was vanaf Milady's Potchefstroom en De Wilge Manskoshuis, hierdie twee instansies het vir ons 'n bakkievrag vol boeke gestuur – met hierdie aantal boeke kan niemand kla dat hulle verveeld is hierdie jaar nie.
'n Donasie wat ons sommer alreeds in die maand van Februarie opgewonde gemaak het vir kersfees en Liggiefees was die van Geroldine. Hierdie pragtige kersversierings wat sy geskenk het laat ons alreeds groot droom van Liggiefees 2021. Ons is dankbaar vir elke skenking!

The mommy-to-be is feeling great although battling severe bouts of morning sickness. But we all reminded her that this too shall pass! The Schoen’s paw patrol trio - Teddie, Daisy and Sharkie - aren’t too sure about this new arrival having been the babies in the house for so long. But we’re sure once that little pink foot makes his or her arrival, these four-legged darlings will be dishing plenty of licks and kisses out! NEWS JUST IN: It’s a boy!

Die Paasnaweek het gekom en gegaan, en te danke aan verskeie supermarkte, organisasies en individue kon ons kinders 'n prettige paar dae geniet. Hierdie langnaweek het aktiwiteite soos 'n besoek van die paashaas en 'n baie opwindende paaseiersoektog op Sondag ingesluit. Ons wil graag vir Megasave Potchefstroom, Pick 'n Pay (West Acres Centre), SPAR Baillie Park, Kitso Ya Boleng, Dis-Chem (MooiRivier Mall) en Colette Lotz bedank vir hul bydrae. Ons het byna 1500 paaseiers ontvang waaraan ons kinders vir dae lank gesmul het. Dankie Potchefstroom - julle vrygewigheid beteken die wêreld vir ons!
Te danke aan The Courier Guy Potchefstroom vier ons Paasfees 'n paar dae langer! Tien bokse propvol sjokolade eiertjies, hasies en malvalekkers was vanoggend by ons afgelewer en ons kinders lek alreeds hulle lippe af. Dankie vir hierdie heerlike verrassing Courier Guy, julle laat ons harte warm klop.

Maart-maand het ons Maatskaplike Werk Maand met groot trots gevier! By Abraham Kriel is ons bevoorreg om nie net een nie, maar vier besonderse Maatskaplike werkers as deel van ons span te hê. Hierdie pragtige dames verryk ons kinders se lewens op 'n daaglikse basis en ons het besluit om hulle te bederf met 'n Foot Peel Pedi by Royal Tree Spa vir hulle harde werk.

cameraman Tumi, they were shown the ropes as we took
them on a tour of our home. Principal Christie Saayman
handled all their questions like a pro followed by
Childcare Supervisor Alec and our Marketing/PR assistant
Marné. Things went rather smoothly and all the
butterflies were soon a thing of the past! The insert was
featured on SABC News (channel 404 on Dstv all day on
the 26th). Well done team, you are all superstars.

Lugkadette het aan die begin van 2020 afgeskop met weeklikse lesse wat handel oor die lugmag, kennis oor vliegtuie, werksgeleenthede, hoe om 'n vlag te hys, hoe om te salueer en vele meer. As gevolg van Covid-19 kon die Lugkadette nie bymekaarkom nie, maar vanaf 16 Februarie 2021 het die weeklikse lesse hervat. Nie net is daar weeklikse lesse nie, maar die dogters is ook ten
