Hey NYDKC Treasurers!

If you weren’t able to obtain the Early Bird Dues

patch for your club, please don’t fret. It is important, how-

ever, to get dues in by the Regular Dues deadline of De-

cember 1. On the bright side, you can give your successor

tips and tricks on how to complete the dues process more

efficiently.

You can check whether your club successfully paid

dues yet by viewing the Dues Chart here. This chart gives

helpful information like your Club ID and your division.

Please remember that you can always call or email Interna-

tional with any questions at 1(800)KIWANIS ext. 411 or at

[email protected].

Besides International, I am always here to answer any

questions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any

questions that weren’t answered by A Treasurer’s How-To:

Membership Dues.

Yours forever in service,

Alexander Mok

s Soccer Tournament

Hold a soccer tournament to find the next

David Beckham. This is a great way to

raise money by selling snacks and en-

trance fees and to foster friendly competi-

tion.

Dance-A-Thon

Host a Dance-A-Thon to see who can

dance the longest. People will be willing to

pay if they know the money is going to a

good cause and if they know they are

dancing for a prize!

Walks Attend a walk like the JDRF

Walk to Cure Diabetes to raise

awareness and to raise money

through donations.

Talent Show Host a talent show and collect entrance

fees. Be sure your acts are tasteful and be

sure your show is worth watching!

Penny Wars

Nothing beats friendly competition be-

tween grades in your school. Bring in one

jar for each grade and collect change

and bills to see which grade can collect

the most money!

Leaf Raking

Go door to door asking for do-

nations in return for raking the

leaves in your neighbor’s front

or back yard.

Farmer’s Market

Open a farmer’s market in your local com-

munity or your school and sell anything

homemade or grown. You can also sell

Thanksgiving themed dishes!

Prom Dress Fundraiser

Ask for donated prom dresses from stu-

dents or even local organizations and sell

them for a profit. It’s never too early to

start looking for the perfect dress!

Trivia Night

Host a trivia night where people

can pay to compete with other

teams. Donated or low-cost

items can be obtained as

prizes.

Below you will find a breakdown of how every club member’s dues are used. The

money is never gone to waste, and it is important to tell current and prospective

members where their money is going.

For the 2013 – 2014 service year, dues will be $12.50 in addition to the optional

$1 – $3 that each club can add. The breakdown of dues is shown below.

International New York District Your Club

$6.50 $6.00 $1.00 – $3.00

• International Website www.keyclub.org

• International Board Meetings • Governor and Administrator Training Conference • Resources (posters, public relations tools) • Pins and Membership Cards • District Support • Awards (scholarships, distinguished officers, etc.) • International Convention • Other Expenses

• District Website www.nydkc.org

• Board Meetings • District/Club Awards • District Officer Materials (pins, resources, etc.) • Leadership Training Conference • Other Expenses

• Events (parties, fundraisers, etc.) • Club Website • Meeting Supplies • Supplies for Projects • Support to Attend LTC • Kiwanis Club Visits • Club Awards • Other Expenses

I hope to have more clubs earn the Early Bird Dues Patch for this service year.

Please check out my How-To guide for dues for detailed steps on submitting dues

and for a recommended timeline of completed actions. Click here to view my

dues guide on Issuu.

I will also create a chart to note which clubs have paid dues for the service year

and when so that all Lieutenant Governors can remind their clubs to submit dues.

Macy's Believe Every letter to Santa written and dropped

off in specific locations will help the Make-

a-Wish Foundation. Macy's will donate $1

for every letter sent to Santa. Please par-

ticipate in this easy fundraising opportu-

nity. This can even report this as a fund-

raiser. Club advisors just have to send me

an email confirming that 'X' amount of let-

ters were dropped off.

Trick or Treat for UNICEF Please continue fundraising for The ELIMI-

NATE Project. Clubs have until December

31, 2013 to submit a gift form and a check

to the Kiwanis International Foundation if a

club wishes to receive a special banner

patch. More instructions can be found

here. Please be sure to give a two week

leeway (meaning you should send the

check and gift form by December 15,

2013). Any funds collected after this date

can still be sent, though. They will just be

counted for The ELIMINATE Project in gen-

eral instead of the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

campaign.
