WUMC Update: This past month has been a transitional, healing period for us, as we are all adjusting to our
dear Pastor Cathy’s passing. We have been blessed with the pastoral leadership of Pastor
Ray Music, Toby Guill from Chesterton UMC, and our own Cindy Gilbert. We so appreciate how everyone has pulled together to get through this difficult time and feel that we have become a stronger church. We have been in contact with our District Superintendent, Larry Whitehead, who has been working to fill our pastoral position. A new pastor should be in place by July 1st. We need to
inform you that our church’s giving has been going down for the past year, and paying our
bills has been an ongoing challenge. While we are presently solvent, we will need to be faithful givers to provide the salary of our new part-time pastor. Since we all love our Westville United Methodist Church, we ask that you, as a member or friend of our church examine your hearts and your giving. Our beautiful church has been the mainstay of faith in our community for generations. We ask that you pray daily for our church and our ministry to this community. We ask that we follow the greatest commandments to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul and love our neighbors as ourselves. We ask that if you have not been to church in a while, that you know that you are missed, and that we would love to have you back. We ask that YOU become a stronger disciple and help to make disciples for the transformation of the world. We ask that you pray for the conference and the DS as they seek to place a Pastor with us that will lead us into a stronger relationship with God, that will work beside us in the harvest field of introducing Jesus to those who may not know Him, and to infuse us with the growth that we need both financially and spiritually. God has big plans for this church. We ask Him to make us strong, committed, and prayerful ambassadors in becoming the church He wants us to be.

May 22, 2017 Trustee Meeting
Present: Ken, Jane, Stephan, Phil, Richard, Mark
Prayer
Items left from last meeting:
AAA Valley Fire came and updated our fire extinguishers. We found one that was missed up
stairs and will add to the list for the next update. We also received a quote for the system in the
kitchen and will add that to the next visit also.
Fascia on the garage by the office came down in the wind storm in March. We are waiting for re-
pair
We discussed selling one of our organs, the one in the brick room. We made no decission on
that.
Working on handling the dripping sink in the kitchen FLC
Ken is working on getting a lawn mower for the church.
We are making plans to strip and wax floor in the FLC
The branch at the parsonage was taken down by Jay Stark (Thank You Jay!) The storage shed in
the back yard of the parsonage has a hole in it. The side walk on the North side of the home
needs to be lifted and the step out the north door needs attention.
We will need a cleaning day at the parsonage after David moves. Much help will be needed.
Jane will make a sign up sheet.
We have a ruling on the capacity of the FLC from the Fire Department – 122 with tables and
chairs.
We continue to discuss the water coming into the basement and plan to try another repair.
We adjourned at 7:40pm, Jane

Trustees need your help: June 16th
and 17th
Friday and Saturday
We have set aside June 16th and 17
th for jobs that need to be done at the Parsonage. We will
start with the outside jobs until David has moved to his new location. The shed in the back yard
has a hole in the roof. It needs to be repaired. If you have that skill and can help please let me
know. The yard needs some attention – weeds and such.
Also after David moves to his new location will need to go into the parsonage and do a cleaning –
top to bottom. I will have more information after this weekend for the kind of work to be done. I
expect washing windows, dusting, vacuuming, washing down cabinet inside and out mopping and
etc. Please let me know if you can be available to help. We will have the carpets cleaned after
we are done with the inside jobs.
Thanks for calling and offering to help!!

Westville students in need. This 2016-17 school year, we gave out an average of 40 bags
weekly, which is about 1,440 bags.
A Special THANK YOU to all the volunteers who shopped, packed, donated, delivered,
and prayed for this sharing ministry. Thank you, God for Continuing to Bless Care &
Share!

BECAUSE HUNGER DOES NOT TAKE A SUMMER VACATION
Care and Share is ministry of the Westville United Methodist Church in partnership with the West-ville Community, whose mission is to provide food for children who may not have adequate food on weekends during the school year and during the summer months. Care and Share is trying something new this summer, and will need a lot of cooperation from the community to be successful. So your job is to help spread the word about this new idea to help others have healthy food during the summer months. Care and Share will be sponsoring weekly FREE FARMER’S MARKETS. Many times gardeners have more produce more than they can use. We would like for the gardeners in our community to share their produce periodically with others. The FREE FARMER’S MARKETS WILL start on July 17th at the Westville United Methodist Church from 5:00-6:00. We will also be giving away food staples, such as cereal, peanut butter, and any other food that may be donated. FREE FARMER’S MARKETS will continue on Mondays from 5:00-6:00 on the side yard of the United Methodist Church on Main Street throughout the growing season. If you are not a gardener, but would still like to help, please donate other foods that will be given away during the market. For more information, please contact us by calling the church at 219-785-2314.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
If you can help with this, would you take a turn mowing
at the church?
Call Jane 785-2314
Cindy Gilbert is taking a break from teaching
Sunday school to the Kindergarten through
5th grade age group.
Would you take one Sunday to work with the
young people. The materials are provided.
You just need to show up and follow the
plans left for that week.
