These guidelines are fantastic. The point at which they became available was the point at which we all made the transition from 'asking the registrar' to 'going to a consistent and useful source of information'. Things that make them brilliant are that (1) they are really short; (2) they are not prescriptive (you can still use your judgment); (3) they have really practical information that you need (eg rates of fluid by kg); (4) they are constantly updated; (5) anyone can contribute to developing a new one in an area of perceived need. They have probably achieved more in delivery of quality consistent paediatric care than any number of expert consensus guidelines because they are always there, always accessible, and nearly always have what you need at the moment that you need it.

They are the 'bible' for providing care for sick & injured children in the ED & provide a reliable resource to ensure consistent care with medical staff coming from many different backgrounds and levels of ability!

The fracture guidelines have been invaluable in Paeds ED. Working in NSW, I often use both the RCH guidelines and the SCH guidelines. Your guidelines are SO much easier to use.

Our ED has a link to the guidelines on every computer and our staff use them all the time. They cover all the common conditions we manage. They are much more usable thean the ones provided by our state health dept. (NSW). Thank you for making them freely available

I use the guidelines because many have excellent resources for parents. I also find the link to the Bristol stool chart useful for parents They were a great resource when I worked in the UK

Publishing such guidelines breads transparency and clarity. I found them particularly amazing when working outside of tertiary settings where I could be assured AND assure the family they were receiving best care

Meaty, succinct, very useful

The best paediatric emergency guidelines I have seen. Good content and layout.

Very user friendly

I find them a fantastic resource

They make mile life so much easier. I think I would struggle in GP if I didn't have access o them. - parent sheets are great ! Thankyou so much RCH

Critical to my every day practice, and I know they are valued interstate as well when I worked in Sydney.

More statewide approved guidelines (although I know that this is in progress). Otherwise a great resource.

It is sometimes really hard to find certain guidelines because you need to search for the correct terminology that the guideline uses.

Many more required

Have you developed an app for smart phones?

good guidelines

wish to thank you for making the guidelines freely available to all parts of the world

Essential information

Would love to see the guidelines expanded to include more topics

Keep them publicly available please!

Well organised.

Very useful. Thank you!

very good, and were helpful on paediatrics rotation at tertiary hospital as a resident - most frequent go-to resource.

Great resource. Been using it since doing my paediatric rotation at RCH. Also provides a good framework for assessing Adults in some settings.

Easy to use and a trustworthy source of information

mostly look up drug doses need to go through 2 or 3 links, couldn't we gostraight to drug monographs when we type P for phamocopeia or D for drugs

Very succinct and easy to find

Very helpful

To add medicolegal pitfalls at tge end of topic would be great.

easy and quick to sort

Great resource especially parent handouts

Great guidelines and alwasy helpful

Very useful and relevant information

Although recent work has improved this issue, the guidelines still remain very "RCH-centric"

Good

Keep up to date

These guidlines are extremely helpfull and provide a basis for consistent evidence based practice statewide

I have only just started using the guidelines - but there is some excellent and very up-to-date information available. In some cases information that is hard to find elsewhere.

No feedback I can offer as I find them extremely helpful as they are.

important to keep these up to date and evidence based

Fantastic resource for junior trainees (I used them a lot as a basic trainee), and a great quick reminder for more senior trainees. I would expect they are well utilised by level 2 facilities and emergency departments also.

I feel they have been very helpful and would always recommend new staff and old to check what is on them

more subspecialty guidelines would be helpful- these are often only available on rch intranet but people in peripheral centres would benefit from access

Excellent reference point for evidence based clinical guidelines

Indispensible

great resource

Would be great to have access to MET procedure guidelines & more information re BLS/ALS

It would be good to provide a contact for new suggested guidelines.

Be so kind to include a full list and description of newborn drug protocols and protocols for pregnant women as regards antibiotic usage, older and newer antibiotics used in practice including

I have found the guidelines very informative and user friendly.

Thank you for providing open access to these guidelines! So much of what we can access has a price tag attached.. Although I can appreciate the huge amount of work it takes to develop a guideline, I would like to see more reference to graded levels of evidence for recommendations made.

Inclusion of more neonatal topics would be helpful

good job

Very accessible information. Good formatting.

I like that they are succinct. 1-2 pages is perfect. We should try to expand the range of topics by including everything that is currently in the RCH paediatric handbook

If find the guidelines helpful

INCLUDE some GP clinical presentations

Well set ot and logical

very useful and helpful.

Excellent guidelines.

I wish it meet my need spicaly while Iam head nurse theire thank you

CPGs have been invaluable in my training as a junior doctor, and now I still use it in my daily work as a GP.

satisfied with guidelines

I recommend these guidelines to the junior docs and medical students I teach ahead of our state childrens' hospital guidelines because they are much more user friendly and more often relevant to our regional setting.

very useful

link to the evidence (not necessarily in the body of text as need to keep it readable)

Would like to see more around indigenous remote paediatric guidelines.

Would like to see more around indigenous remote paediatric guidelines.

Keep up the good work

Awesome resource for junior doctors - this is the go-to guide for students, JMOs and trainees alike!

They are very helpful for students

Well structured guidelines, with appropriate references, often covering topics/problems not well covered by CPGs available in other mainland states CPG sites

Very helpful easy to access during busy times

They're great! Thanks. Especially useful for rural practitioners.

attach link for the recent journal paper

Really appreciate aceess to these guidelines.

Very useful. the RCH guidelines have mostly replaced the need for us to create our own guidelines at our hospital. Although occasionally RCH specific comments present not always appropriate for our suburban hospital-such as suggestions to discus patients with subspecialty units. The links to information booklets, allergy plans and other resources such as lists of mother baby units or speech therapists are very useful as we are in the same city. Parent handout resources are also accessed frequently.

A wonderful resource especially for junior staff (and refreshers for those of us some time post exams!).

very useful

Great resource thanks

like the parent handouts

Cross referencing the guidelines, ability to find a la google with misspelt searches would be very nice.

More information on adolescent issues. Psychological and development problems

Clinical guidelines are inceasingly helpful in this evidence based world and best practice or consensus guidelines are also very helpful even when there is no clear evidence available.

Probably they should be the basis for national guidelines - why shouldwe do things diferently in different states -it is one country. There is always room in guidelines to allow for different practices where there is no, or conflicting evidence. A lot of dupliocation at hospital, Health Dept and regulatory body levels could be avoided

These guidelines are good and useful. Please continue to expand and keep updating. This takes time and demands resources. I hope this survey will help in getting more resources for your guideline programme. It may be that the federal government can get involved and allow these guidelines to be a national/international resource as it already is.

Great to consult them when I need to.

To my knowledge, these are the best Australian-produced guidelines.

I love the guidelines, esp the asthma photo device board. They are well set out and give me a good guide as to what to think of.

I would like the Asthma Guidelines to be updated - the Asthma Best Practice Guidelines from 1999 - dont need much updating but more 1999 is terribly old

Very useful and easily accessible.

Inclusion of Treatment of Umbilical Granuloma.

I find them invaluable when I want to look something up.

the guide lines are excellent

Continue to develop wider range of guidelines

The algorithms are often really good in guiding clinical decisions. This kind of thing is really missing in german practice. Occasionally I stumble across something that I don't think is entirely evidence based. Eg the HSP article says that prednisolone probably helps to protect the kidneys. I haven't found any good evidence for that elsewhere!

Some colleges expect reader to pay for guidelines. Australian college has a lot of free access data which is helpful for medical practitioners from less priveleged countries.

should up to date and help us to use for mobile phone

Very much trusted clinical guidelines

Sometime the guideline's advice is very RCH specific. Other hospital may not adopt the same practice due to difference in thinking, or the management is in contention. However I do see RCH's recommendation as very useful and valuable.

These are a fabulous resource for clinical proactice and teaching

would you consider having a link to 'supporting information' for each topic which would take you to relevant background information e.g. international guidelines, relevant research papers or useful papers like the one on abdo pain which you've just sent out? for example see http://www.networks.nhs.uk/nhs-networks/partners-in-paediatrics/guidelines .

Very useful!

I do tend to use UpToDate

Very user-friendly.

excellent

It is a great start for most but not very helpful for the well versed BUT I think a great resource. Have had positive comments from junior staff.

Great for quick reminders as I get older and foreget stuff

PDF patient information would be useful for ease of printing

Work on my own so these clinical guidelines are fantastic

fantastic resource. How about something on learning difficulties or auditory processing?

It is sometimes difficult to find what you are looking for/guess under which title the guideline can be found. Cross referring would be helpful or a search tool which was a bit more sensitive

Great source of evidenced based practice that I will continue to refer to.

It will be great if more common chronic paediatric topics can be covered.

I trained in the UK where I heard at least as much about the RCH guidelines as I do in Queensland.

Needs to be easier to use on mobile devices.

I've used these for over a decade and am so glad they are still accessible globally for free.

Would like to see the guidelines to expand even more to include more conditions

make it more precises and user friendly to save the time

excellent service especially for less experienced paediatricians and trainees

more detail for medical guidelines and protocol. Guidelines good for rmo level but on occasions need more detail for reg/consultant

Very useful resource when I need it

Thanks for all your great work

Great guidelines, sometimes they're lacking good advice for the GP setting, just sometimes.

Great work

More topics

Excellent guidelines, very practical

Fantastic resource. I hope they will continue to add to this knowledge base with further common paediatric presentations.

nice effort to get this up thank you

well done

I would like to see research articles on assessment instruments and treatment.

Overall an excellent tool

Direct link fact sheets for passing onto patients at clinical guidelines site

Good work

Guideline is very useful .

very easy to use thanks

More guidelines on common paediatric conditions seen in the community (eg in general practice) would be useful.

Great as it is!

very informative

These guidelines are exam preparation gold.

It may be useful to have a section at the bottom of most guidelines - 'when to refer to subspecialty'. This could make the guidelines more useful for practising general paediatricians, particularly in rural/ regional areas.

If written how often (and when last) a particular topic is updated would give us idea how recent the information is.

thanks you for an excellent resource.

Regular updating essential.

Very useful

Guidlines clear and straight forward

Helpful

All good

excellent set of guidelines

Sometimes a bit complex

some more guidelines on epilepsy

some more guidelines on epilepsy

More flow charts for quick access

concise and user friendly

I wish ambulance guideline could be as simple to follow

Some very good

There is sometimes quite a difference between the CPG and what is in the latest version of the Handbook.

could be more detailed. it is sometimes too short

Great resource

The guidelines are very helpful. Thanks for providing them.

Very useful in a regional setting & for teaching purposes

They are a great resource, keep up the good work!

They are excellent guidelines but some areas could be expanded. They are used throughout Australia and I wonder if you could invite other institutions to share in the effort of developing further guidelines and reviewing them. I am not suggesting losing editorial control but extending the size of the development workforce and allowing other Australian paediatricians to contribute and have some combined ownership.

no suggestion

parent handouts very useful. would love an app for paediatric pharmacopeia

love it

More guidelines!!

short reference list would be helpful eg evidence steroids for in prevention of renal damage in HSP

some are a bit more high level than General Practice so would like a GP version

Excellent guidelines which I often use before anything else. Wondering if you could provide a picture card for common/uncommon rashes in children.

Best Australian specific paeds resource around

I dont use them enough to have strong feelings I wonder if links to the subspecialty guidelines at RCH could be highlighted

An app not requiring internet access would be great

Thank you for making them so easily available to all - great on night shift when you want something concrete to back up your decisions.

Very helpful and often linked from kidshealth.org.nz, thanks for that.

Keep up the good work

Please keep the going, I use them so much and parents find the information very helpful. Awesome resource for GPs.

Provide links to evidence based resources

More guidelines on ventilation and oxygen therapy.

Excellent resource

I have worked in many different locations around australia and have relied on the guidelines regularly to ensure I am using the best practice available. They also save time by decreasing the ned to seek advice from other specialists and improve efficiency. I can't imagine being a paediatric registrar without them, and as I consultant I still use them regularly.

When topics are reviewed there is no access to that part of the guideline , Why not just leave as is and then change over when new version available.

An excellent, reliable, much used resource. Thank you

I use them as a source of information and consider them to be evidence based practice guidelines.

Keep up the great work!

Very comprehensive and helpful

Excellent guidelines. I should use these more often as almost always also relevant to NZ practice

Excellent guidelines

These guidelines are very useful in care of sick child. We use many times each day at my hospital

In our rural setting where we have infrequent medical assistance, these guidelines are invaluable.

Incredible resource which I have used in NSW and the UK!

Excellent Resource, use it myself and recommend to colleagues and trainees

They should be all linked to other relevant guidelines on the hospital intranet

Excellent guidelines used by all states, not just victoria

Incredibly useful guidelines readily available. I used them constantly when working in an Paed ED in Dublin, Ireland. All important topics covered, but keep working on including more topics!

It would be great to continue to have access to the previous guideline whilst it is being upgraded

Excellent. Love them.

They are excellent but could cover many other common clinical problems. Also more linked parent information would be useful ie for tics

excellent, especially PDA version

They should all be available some you try to access say intranet access only

Excellent resource - best yet - concise and practical

Well done on the whole. Easy to use and readily available. Thank you.

More conditions could be added

Now retired but still like the guidelines

A fantastic resource for busy practitioners

They new additions to guide clinicians based in go or at smaller hospitals are great. I use the asthma action plan for all my patients including adults as I like how clearly it is written. Many thanks for these great resources.

Good resource.

its a great resource, especially because i work in several hospitals and its a lot easier to look the CPG's up rather than trying to find the hospitals ones.

There are some conflicting antibiotic doses with antibiotic guidlines( especially penicillin dosages)

Invaluable resource in a general Paediatric unit staffed much of the time after hours by non Paediatric trainees / house surgeons

Very helpful esp for the follow up clinic patients

Invaluable resource

Excellent guidelines!!!!

date of update not present, it would be nice to have access to reference lists if possible- adds to authority but don't think they should be part of the actual guidelines

the guidelines was very useful for pediatrician who worked with limited resources.

An excellent resource that I go to first regardless of the hospital I am currently employed in.

Has always been of high quality. Amazed that it is free and accessible. Used when I was a resident. Very helpful. Not as much now, but I direct patients and rmos to the website.

Great!

There are some topics not included. It would be very useful if those could be added.Thanks.

Updating more frequently

Excellent site as good to see other country's guidelines.

Continue updating and include topics for general paediatric use

Fantastic.

An excellent resource but not UpToDate, nor does or should it try to be. Not always pragmatic for out of the tertiary environment

very helpful for someone who has their professional life in rural areas to realise that my practice is still current

i wish the guidelines could be download

Very helpful and a great resource

INFORMATIVE UP TO DATE AND USEABLE IN MY SCOPE OF PRACTICE

I think they are probably the most comprehensive set of guidelines I have seen. Whilst in the uk found other doctors referring to them also.

can't remember it all, brief format good

We are most grateful in the private sector for this world class resort and take great comfort and reassurance using it as a reference point within our own policy work accross over 60 hosptials Thank you

Became aware of guidelines when I worked at RCH and have continued to use them on return to UK

Easily accessible and reliable information, not doing much paeds at the mo but always happy to check out the RCH stuff if I need info. Was very useful while doing my degree as well. I use the handbook and it's good too, nice and concise but lacks details for a few things, which is probly only an issue at uni rather than in practice.

The parents handouts are invaluable, most family's trust the source and find the language easy to understand. The flow charts eg. Approach to a limp or swollen joint are great and easy to use on the floor for our junior staff in our mixed ED in a regional centre.

They are fabulous and I constantly refer to them during consults and after consulting for updated info and refer parents to the info sheets too.

simply brilliant

best guidelines available. The RCH Guidelines provide easy to use and essential up to date clinical pathways ensuring I provide the best care possible for my Paediatric patients while on the run!

An excellent service and a model for how guidelines should be delivered.

I think the CPGs are a fantastic resource that very much increase the quality of care children receive. I don't know what I'd do without them!

When I was doing my paediatrics training in both New Zealand and Melbourne, the RCH guidelines were always the gold standard. Now that I'm training in GP in Perth, I still use them daily at work.

Your guidelines are reliable, easy to access and contain valuable and practical information.

This is a wonderful and generous as well as valable resource. thank you again

More topics required and updates more frequently

dont remove it from access

excellent resource, easy to use and understand. Refer parents to site all the time. trust and respect the site. Would be lost without it, so thanks

One of the best set of guidelines on the web-we are truly grateful!

I appreciate they are available to all doctors/health professionals- I think it helps give standardisation/continuity in care for children. it is a great resouce for learning and a refresher for all. please keep up the good work

An excellent resource!!!!

I would like to also see more guidelines that can relate back to community child health issues such as umbilical granulomas etc...

very user friendly Accessibe to anyone via internet which is excellent

difficult to find, cant search accuratly. often doesnt contain useful information

They are Fantastic, I would just like more of them

Very useful guidelines, use them often, also find parent info sheets helpful too

It will be useful to have more topics covered.

Relevant images would help eg rashes

Fantastic resource. Constantly evolving and doesnt take months to update content when a new development appears.

Fantastic!

A valuable resource for community paediatricians.

A valuable resource for both doctors and patients

A wonderful aid to remote & rural practice

I find the guidelines extremely helpful,. they are very user friendly and brief enough to be able to use with the patient in my rooms.

Particularly use it for parent guidelines

This is a respected and valued resource for our Paed unit

As well as using extensively myself (often as memory jog), it is a fantastic resource to point more junior doctors to: they then have framework for assessing a patient and having a management strategy before calling you.

I miss the one page (yellow)flow charts used to assess clinical problems like fever and abdominal pain which seemed excellent for juniot hospital doctors. These were hyperlinked thumbnails in the narrative which were a nice visual summary of essential clinical questions

The guidelines are great and are a very helpful clinical tool. I like it when there is also a patient handout link on the relevant articles that I can give to my patients.

Good and concise guidelines.

The guidelines provide professional directions which really enhance one's practice.the information for patents also. Provide a platform for useful discussion during a visit or for discharge advice.

Would benefit from more flowcharts to aid decision making rather than paragraphs of text.

Used less often now as in neonates for which there are few guidelines. NETS guidelines need updating and could be incorporated given now based at RCH.

Very clear and concise uptodate evidence based guideline.very uselful especially working in remote areas.

i know these are widely used in my state - seen by clinicians as great resources. the broad topics covered are a particular attraction for them.

I find the guidelines extremely helpful and access them more than my own hospital guidelines

A fantastic resource and available online makes it incredibly helpful for remote and rural rotations as a paeds registrar

a very good resource and easily accessible

An invaluable resource for all lower level centres requiring advice on best practice

They help maintain consistency in paediatric medical treatment in Victoria

Excellent resource. The one Austr general paed guidelines I refer to. Both reliably researched/based but also pitched at the right level, for me allows quick scan for points I may have forgotten or which are new, highlights important points. The only possible improvement I could suggest is that I know that a few years ago it was RCH registrars who were updating or creating some guidelines. Personally I think their great work and that of their supervisor in the task might be publicly recognised, with a small print "this version updated this date by Dr X and Dr Y" at the bottom, or similar.

Some guidelines do not completely consistant with others around the same topics. Asthma/amminophylline. need to change IN fentanyl listing as no one finds it under I for intranasal.

Well done and keep the hard work

When writing or reviewing our guidelines, I always use your resources as a reliable source of helpful information.

I work in a small rural hospital, and rarely need RCH resources. I find the reading interesting and insightful to conditions not usually presented.

It needs to be easier to upload onto iphone when it expires and also you need to make NETS Handbook for the iphone please. It's incredibly fiddly to work with when it expires because you have to delete the "old" one completely before you're allowed to upload the "new" one. It should just happen automatically I reckon when it expires just like other aps that upgrade themselves.

It is very useful for me who is working on remote islands because easy to carry around with the mobile device which does not need any internet connection once you downloaded.

excellent help as are the fact sheets

Extremely important & highly valued source of up to date, trusted & quickly accessed clinical guidelines for common presentations.

I need more details, it's very consisted

There are many common conditions that are not covered by the guidelines. Also, they are almost always aimed at medical staff - there are rarely nursing-related guidelines or even parts of guidelines. this would be a great help.

Easy to access

I find the guidelines very useful. I think there should be a guideline for all aspects of care within the hospital. Sometimes there is not information in the guidlines but it can be found in the policies and procedures section. I would like to see an online based feedback system put into place, where people can forward questions that have not been answered by the clinical practice guidline so that this can be discussed with the clinical practice guideline commitee and hopefully incorporated into an existing clinical practice guidline or a new guidline created altogether if necessary.

I used the guidelines multiple times daily as a resident in ED. They are consistently succinct, informative and pragmatic, facilitating better patient care and more efficient referral.

Great work-keep it up

Thanks for your great efforts to put these guidlines

Difficult to download again after the 01/03/2013. My first paediatric job in Australia. Trained in South Africa. Use it to see what you do in Australia.

They are brilliant!!

It is very helpful.

Excellent resource

Easy to access and set up in a logical manner

When I need to access them, I find them easy to navigate, helpful and evidence based. They are a reliable source of information.

Useful references Practical approach much appreciated

Easy to use, handy to provide handouts to parents

Very clear and straight forward condensed information and flowcharts. Very helpful.

They are a fantastic resource!

The guideline are excellent. I would love more on neonates

I often find that I wish there was more detail included in the guidelines. (I am an advanced trainee in Paediatrics)

Nice & clear, I have generally found them excellent & have used them in a variety of settings. I can comfortably direct my residents to them & know that they are comprehensive. Two criticisms: one is that they are very site specific at times which is

fine in terms of their primary purpose but for an online resource that is used (& promoted) in many different places it seems a bit narrow in scope. The second is that I've found department specific guidelines have occasionally differed from the CPG (specifically, renal department guideline on nephrotic syndrome).

The guidelines are crucial in learning about appropriate, evidence-based paediatric clinical practice, and I would be lost without them!

accessible, easy to find and appropriate length

Worlds best resource

Excellent guide Succinct information which covers basics that would be required in acute clinical setting Excellent flowcharts

The guidelines are fantastic. Helpful, appropriate and up to date. I also use the Auckland Styarship paediatric guidelines and between these 2 sites feel that Australasia is very well served

Practical and well set out.

Excellent resource for clinicans and families.

Very superficial with some errors and a few typos.

These guidelines have been one of the ling-term success stories closely related to my Paediatric training. There is less information on cardiology related aspects for ny current sub-speciaLisation

Excellent. Wish there were more available.

I started my paediatric training overseas (UK) and even whilst I was there, I was very aware of the RCH guidelines, and referred to them frequently.

I work in a small rural ED with GP coverage. Theses doctors are often long out of a tertiary hospital. We, the nurses, use the CPGs all the time to get the GPs to treat patients properly with up to date practice.

Kindly make other clinical CME materials in the website available to non-staff viewers.

very easy to find guidelines

Great resource ans sooo easy to find

An excellent resource

An excellent resource for paediatric trainees and specialists.

I find the guidelines a good teaching resource for my junior staff and nurses

I would first try to access our local/state guidelines first (tertiary Paed hospital, NSW) ... Then consult RCH guidelines second. They are very good.

I work with Idigenous kids here in Central Australia, and a lot of RCH guidelines dont fit our kids but it at least gives me some guideline to go by.

very helpful and I will go through them all and I will give you feedback if any. thanks a lot

We have given departmental 'blessing' to the site. Our juniors are encouraged to refer to it liberally

I love the Guidelines and I encourage all the medical students to use them now and in their future working lives.

Excellent sourse of information. Although I work in NSW I gravitate towards these guidelines because they cover most topics and provide evidence based information

Would be helpful to have some guidelines on common GP presentations also - things like hand foot and mouth.

An excellent practical guide to clinical situations. Succinct and very helpful.

The guidelines don't specify an evidence base for recommendations, nonetheless they offered a structured, sensible approach to both common and uncommon clinical problems

They are a brilliant resource. They are also helpful for teaching purposes and I have let overseas colleagues know about the new fracture guidelines. Keep up the good work, thanks!

These guidelines have now become an essential tool in my day to day practise and i tell all my junior medical staff to use them

Succinct summaries. Very useful in a busy acute setting.

Very helpful

Excellent and invaluable resource, should be more widely publicised and known.

I use the veriosn for android smart phone. Unfortunately the downloaded version recently can't be opened, because "it has expired". Even downloading it again doesn't help

Incredibly helpful, very clearly set out with useful information. Particularly good when working in remote setting and access to consultant paediatricians/sub specialists isn't readily available.

Used to use them alot, now use "local" guidelines. If there is not a local guideline I refer to RCH guidelines.

Some guidelines show bias to local practices which are out of keeping with elsewhere in Australia

Keep up the great work

It's also a very good resource to print off and give to parents.

good practical advice for common problems

I think the guidelines are a highly valuable resource for the bedside clinician

great now can have on ipad and iphone.very comprehensive list of topics

but I help write them so am biased!!

Smartphone version very convenient.

Very helpful resource. Helps me with referencing. Find the website easy to use.

Precise and handy

excellent resource for consultatn paediatricians, GPs, ED and med studetns I wish the Aust tertiary childrens hospitals especially NSW could collaborate to produce an Aust wide resource. RCH seems to do most of the heavy lfting when it comes to on line post graduate education.

Without them my practice would be less safe and up to date Ralph Pinnock

It is hard to quantify just how useful these guidelines are. Mike and his team provide awonderful service, which helps countless thousands of paediatricians and the families they care for. The guidelines are succcinct, accurate and appropriate, bassed on the best available evidence and they are updated, when necessary. I can;t recommend them too highly.

fantastic

Very good guidelines - we base some of our in-house guidelines on the RCH Melbourne CPG's. The only downside is they contain information specific for Victoria, not the rest of Australia (which is entirely understandable, given they are the RCH Melbourne guidelines!)

Parent information limited topics covered

Very helpful guidelines, especially when I was in my training years. Now a great way to keep up to date with current practice.

Keep up the good work.

Keep up the good work.

It's brilliant. The best & most comprehensive online source of paediatric information.

They are amazing. The best resource available for Paediatric trainees definitely!!

Would be nice if they covered more topics

I find then very easy to use, there are often guidelines that are not covereed by NSW health so they are easy to access for us

The format is practical, the advice is clear, very user friendly

An invaluable resource.

the guidelines are clear and easy to understand, they have great parent handouts which we use, I always direct nursing students to use the guidelines.

recently revamped and much easier to read through. orthopaedic guide is amazing. very very useful for when isolated/ rural/ etc.

Good for all levels of teaching - undergrads to post grads

More topics related to allied health - physiotherapy etc would be invaluable

PDA Version is awful. It would be really useful to have an iphone/android app, it would make the guidelines much more accessible on the wards.

Very handy and useful with uptodate information on most topics

Excellent, very revelant, not "ivory tower " medicine but approach at a real, practicing, level.

Excellent, very revelant, not "ivory tower " medicine but approach at a real, practicing, level.

Excellent to have then freely accessible, and to point junior staff / GPs towards.

Only wish there were more - a fantastic resource for paeds

They are invaluable.

Excellent, concise and easy to read guidelines - great reference when you are busy!

can be hard to locate a specific guideline sometimes. Putting in alternative diagnostic description could help

I think they are an excellent resource.

Guidelines are fantastic, very clear and useful. Important to ensure they are updated in a timely fashion.

generally appear to be aimed at junior staff level (as is appropriate) and appear conservative and safe

They are very helpful and more to the point than the somewhat more wordy Starship Guidelines. A combination is sometimes just right!

I refer to these guidelines when teaching undergrads about evidence based practice. I also use them with parents and as a parent myself.

This are the best clinical guidelines available, accurate, upto date, and most importantly short and to the point and very easy to follow. Brilliant!!!

As a nurse educaator, I am constantly referring new/junior staff to these guidelines as a source of current best practice and safety of care. It is a relief in my practice to know that we have a resource that is so readily accessible and kept up to date by experts in the field.

I would like a component of the formatting to included current research relevant to each condition in alphabetical order and maybe a research article (preferably a Cochran review) that has been approved by senior clinical staff. Maybe some international links also. Thank you

Fantastic resource. Love the fact that they are so comprehensive and cover so many illnesses plus lots of fact sheets for parents. Dont have to go to multiple sites for reputable Australian info

sometimes i find the one i am looking for hasnt been written yet... when i do find one it is always very helpful and of great value when talking with patients and families to be able to reference what the RCH are suggesting. thanks to those who spend hours tirelessly updating and organising CPG for our use!

I find them extremely useful. Some are good resources to give parents as well.

Overall, a fantastic resource..! It would be nice to differentiate local guidelines from state-wide guidelines such as the VPON paediatric fracture guidelines (and host them on a non-RCH-affiliated site)

They are mostly useful/helpful particularly when using them to guide novice practitioners or where issue is high acuity/low frequency so you tend to need a reminder on some things. However evidence tables or references are frequently absent. Also, there appears to be no process to ensure ownership of individual guidelines, hence they are not updated in a timely manner. Some simply do not exist, eg. we've been doing CPAP/BiPAP for years, but still no CPG.

As a paediatric nurse working in a rural facility the RCH guidelines are the "bible". Extremely helpful, relevant & kept up to date

a fantastic, clear, instructive resource that I rely on and use regularly

Very practical and helpful on a wide range of both common topics but also uncommon and serious issues.

Not currently working in paeds. If I was I'd have occasion to use the guideleins more often

A valuable resource for GP's

I am looking forward to the guidelines on fractures being completed

just not all that relevant I think to my area of practice

These guidelines are fantastic, useful and very accessible. I don't use them often, but when I do I am really glad they are there.

Very useful also to show parents how/why making a management decision and then great links to parent info also.

It is a nuisance when guidelines are taken down because they are being revised. Understandible though if the advice in the guideline is out-of-date or incorrect.

The guidelines are better for their brevity, confusion and simplicity however they have acquired such a status in the local medical community that they are taken as the only way to do things when frequently that is not the case. There are some guidelines which are based on somewhat flimsy evidence (when this is the only evidence available) but this is not acknowledged. In general they are a wonderful resource, demonstrate a pretty sensible perspective, are very well presented and are easy to use.

Can you add an evidence table to the guideline and also include the key contact or subject matter expert?

if we could also have the recency of the material provided, one would not have to fall back to the other resources to see if what is available at hand is a consulted work from the work that carries the highest level of evidence. in

It would be good to have a mechanism to suggest topics for other guidelines for conditions commonly seen in gen paediatrics outside hospital settings eg anxiety, haematuria...

need to add more guidelines re common clinical illnesses.

I often refer junior staff to these guidelines as it provides a very good overview of the topic.I also use the parental information sheets frequently. Good job!

very useful information for general practice

Really valuable resource. Not alweays relevent to me but always of interest.thankyou.

Given these are widely used internationally, does the CPG committee have representatives from outwith RCH?

Very useful as a basis for clinical care which can then be expanded by other sources

It's one of the resources I refered to the most at work.

I work at a small private hospital and use the guidelines knowing that they are from a credible source and evidence based to ensure our practice is safe.

More would be great and links to parent handouts.

Great resource that is easily accessible and user friendly.

Having worked in several regional hospitals who do not have their own guidelines it is great to be able to direct junior staff, and overseas trained staff, to a reliable, easily accessible, comprehensive guideline. Thank you RCH!

An online excellent resource - available anywhere at any time. Evidence-based and 1st class.

I recommend the site to fifth year JCU medical students.

I find the guidelines to be easily accessable and easy to use. They form part of resources recommended for use by our paediatrcians and are evidenced based. Great work I'm sure many children are benefiting from the experise of those experts who have these guidelines together.

I find the guidelines among the most useful available.

A fabulous resource which is kindly available to those who work outside the hospital.

I use the Guidelines whenever preparing talks for refering hospitals. They are clear and easy to follow

They are a great adjunct to basic clinical practice

Excellent

Very useful with both diagnosis and work up as well as management.

Great resource for staff and students Reliable and clearly written

A short section on further reading or references would be useful. The CPGs have become de facto evidence without seeing the root of this evidence

Many of the Guidelines are missing or being refreshed. I believe many of these are the Clinical Guidelines (Hospital), and not the Clinical Practice Guidelines, however it makes it hard when the Latex or Death of a child links are missing or only partly available (both are now online after considerate discussion with Sally Lima and Peter Bunworth about Risk). I understand that these needed to be rewritten, as the authors had 'moved on', however I don't believe the best course of action is to pull them offline until that occurs. Otherwise I love the CPG's!!!

Fantastic handouts for parents. I often recommend the kids info site to them

They are up to date. Encourages National uniformity with care. Fills the gap when other services do not have the guidelines available.

Have you considered having journal references for treatment options at the end of a guideline?

helpful overall but the search function is not very good.

Great format Fantastic scope

Excellent

Outstanding resource for regional Paediatric practice. Confirms RCH reputation as Australia's leading Children's hospital

The type is too light in colour for the normally sighted and very difficult for those with visual impairment. Excellent to have accessible guidelines. Note you have nothing on Autism Spectrum Disorders. NZ has a guideline that may be a useful link.

All Ok perfect. thank you

Excellent - extremely useful

The smart phone version which I downloaded is not very easy to navigate.

WELL THE GUIDELINES ARE VERY PRACTICAL FOR ME, THEY GIVE ME SECURITY IN MY CLINICAL DESCISIONS THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR WORK

APPLICATION FOR IPHONE WILL BE GREAT! EVEN IF THE APP IS PAID

Informative, up to date, safe and reliable.

Vital part of my practice

PDF versions for parents sheet will be great.

PDF versions for parents sheet will be great.

They are fantastic! I am an RCH trainee locuming in rural QLD at the moment and they are probably doing more good here than at RCH itself!

It is an excellent reference source and for practice.

Just wonderful as a clinical resource out here in the desert

I work in a general ED with a large elderly population and a low pediatric census of which most are well. Therefore, I don't have the need/opportunity to consult your guidelines frequently.

Extremely useful as guidelines are concise and reflect current practice. Would recommend that more topics should be included and guidelines updated at least every 12 months.

Very informative and precise

Fantastic resource

can you join the effort from the PED ER group in the USA??

Nice and succinct

I find them useful to show to junior doctors

They are fantastic!

Excellent reference.. very handy

Also used by our Medical students frequently.

Fantastic resource

Thank you very much!!

Brilliant- thanks!

Very succinct and helpful, and the parent information sheets are also a godsend in general practice.

Outstanding product - concise and with a clear clinical focus while being thoroughly scientific and well researched! They are an elegant contrast to the plethora of "procedures" that prioritise corporate form over clinical function.

In my experience, RCH guidelines has an edge over other competing sites. It is user-friendly and generally up to date.

An excellent resource that is always rekiable and up to date

Fantastic info sheets to share with caregivers

These are excellent guidelines. I used to look up things more often in the past (1-3 visits/month) less so now. No specific reason for the change.

Wonderful, very helpful. Harm/onc notably missing

becoming to many and unwieldy , some are quite didactic and long winded with little clinical perspective but extracted out of books without perspective or incisive points

I use the RCH clinical guidelines every day and have found them to be comprehensive and evidence based. I only wish there were even more! Thanks for the good work.

Quick links to patient handouts and categorising system are particularly useful

Better if redesigned as an application for smart phones

A great resource to refer to for clarification or further understanding. Also a helpful resource to assist with educating parents. Diagrams and illustrations are always of great benefit when appropriate, eg fracture guidelines.

Excellent resource. Thanks very much!

I wish there were more of them!

Really useful and clear tool

Congrats.

An excellent resource.

It would be useful to have references and level of evidence with guidelien

I would like more topics. Eg nocturnal enuresis. Sometimes difficult to find the guideline you are looking for. Would be great to have a search facility

Clinical support at night, when you have little physical support or you are on your own. Good resource on the wards when you need a quick and easily actively and free resource.

Excellent ,trustworthy resource

It'll be good to include most relevant references used

Wonderful!!

Health info Fact sheets just as useful

no other comments

requiremore neurology and urolgy guidelines

Really good I'd love more primary care info (as a gp) And more info for parents if dehydrated kids

the guidlines wre my vailable resourse for quik n relaiable information

Thanks for sharing the guidelines with me!

An invaluable service, greatly appreciated and very helpful.

These are very helpful guidelines. I use them regularly and they inform my practice. They also form the basis of the management of most conditions in my own institution (outside of RCH)

I feel very 'safe' using the clinical practice guidelines if I need some advice when reviewing a patient

could include many more topics as often not included or being "updated" when searched for.

Well set out and easy to access. Links to related useful sites.

Very practical and thoughtful guidelines, easy to navigate and logical links. Potentially could include date of last update to build trust that information is up to date.

These guidelines were used by my colleagues and I when I lived in Scotland - they are of international reknown!

They are simple to follow with up to date advice.

They are simple to follow with up to date advice.

A great resource for many levels

Usually my first choice for paediatric guidelines

more guidelines would be great

Possible Inclusions of more flow chart/ diagrams could make reading through the topical guidelines faster and easier to reproduce in varied clinical settings, regards.

It would be good to have even more topics covered

I would be lost without them and truly cannot express my gratitude that there is such a generous culture of sharing evidence.

Reliable and up to date Extremely useful Easy to access and use

sometimes a bit difficult to find the guideline, but generally very useful

fantastic - i recommend them to colleagues all the time and use them myself frequently

Very easy to access with quality recommendations.

Sometimes too RCH centric; assume Paediatric knowledge that adult clinicians may not have

References at the bottom of the guidelines to indicate the main evidence they were based on would be good. Guidelines for more conditions would be great too.

Need updating frequently as sometimes guidelines lag behing clinical practise. Maybe have a option to modify for non rch use especially in the parent info sheet which often says return to rch etc

An extremely valuable clinical resource

Good Evidence based

Have used them less frequently as I have become more confidentnin general practice and my experience has grown - once used them much more frequently than once per month. Most often use them in emergent care situations.

great format, easy to read excellent links to patient/parent handouts

You are on the right track, but you should work harder to involve people from places other than your own hospital

I use them all the time
