First Communion and Confirmation (9th grade) will be scheduled for Fall

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have suspend-ed all classes for Religious Education. Restrictions on the number of gatherings and the high inci-dence of the virus continues to prevent us from holding classes in the school building and halls. In the spring, we will begin classes when the pandemic begins to subside. The Sacrament of First Penance will be held in May. First Commun-ion and Confirmation will be held in the Fall of 2021. These dates are to be determined by the Spring of 2021. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

The new Live-Stream Cameras at St. Brigid Church-In remembrance of Anne M. Callahan Anne M. Callahan was a longtime Parishioner at St. Brigid who remembered our Parish with a gift before her passing on October 28, 2019. Anne’s Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Brigid Church on the Feast of All Souls, November 2, 2019. It was her donation to our Parish that has enabled us to install two high-tech cameras at St. Brigid Church so that we can Live-Stream Masses, Funerals, and Weddings on our website for anyone to watch. It has been a great source of comfort to those who could not attend Mass due to the effects of the pandemic. It has been a comfort to family members living far away in other states or countries who have not been able to attend a wedding or funeral of a loved one. We thank Anne for her donation and continue to remember her in our prayers.

South Boston Catholic Academy one of the first schools to classroom pooled testing for COVID19

Started in January 2021 South Boston Catholic Academy is partnering with Concentric by GINGKO to conduct classroom pooled COVID-19 surveillance testing. Faculty, staff, and students, who have consented to the study, are tested weekly as part of the program to assess the ease and effectiveness of the sample collection process for classroom-use. The goal of this program is to identify asymptomatic infections early to contain possibly spread. The School has been in session since late August with very low numbers of faculty, staff and students testing pos-itive. All students are in classroom cohorts so that if there is an issue with a positive test, only that cohort is placed in quarantine. This has allowed the rest of the school to safely attend classes. We thank the Principal, staff and teachers for their leadership in this pool testing.

6:00PM Sunday Mass Suspended SAFETY CHANGES

Capacity for all Masses at 25% Due to the extremely low attendance at the 6:00PM Sunday Mass at St. Brigid Church the past few months, we are suspending that specific Mass for January and February. Those attending Mass have steadily dropped as the pandemic continues getting worse and is ex-pected to increase over the next two months. We under-stand that many are not attending in person at this time due to COVID concerns and many are choosing to stay safe by watching online. We understand and support your choice. When it is safe again and people begin to return to Mass in person we will resume the 6:00PM Mass on Sunday evenings. As we move into January and February - we will continue to evaluate the concerns of Medical Professionals for in-person worship. The restrictions on numbers are con-stantly changing - and are now at 25% capacity. Please watch our website, Facebook and emails for any updates and schedule changes as we face the next two months of increased infection.

Your safety and health is our priority! Holy Communion Distribution - CHANGE

We will continue distributing Holy Communion at the end of Mass., as was done in the Spring. The priest will conclude the Mass with a final blessing and then Holy Communion will be distributed following the final bless-ing. We would ask that after you receive holy commun-ion that you exit the Church and not return to your seat. Hopefully we can get back to some normalcy after the pandemic surge is over. St Brigid Convent Building - YARD SALE NEXT Saturday, January 30 -

9AM - 12Noon We are holding a YARD SALE at the Former Convent of St. Brigid on Saturday Morning, January 30th from 9AM to 12Noon. There is furniture, desks, bed frames, chairs, couches, wall hangings, and framed prints, lamps, kitchen and dining china etc. Park in the St. Brigid Church Lot and the center door at the basement level will be open. January 30th ONLY.

Former St Brigid Convent Plans - Renovations for Early Childhood South Boston Catholic Academy plans to utilize the former Convent of St. Brigid for their Early Childhood Center. This renovation would provide classrooms for our 3 years old early childhood program and would free up classroom space at SBCA for the growing upper grades. Currently we have over 400 students at SBCA - it has been a great year for our children. We hope to start the renovations in the next few weeks.
