Here's a little something you may not know this about our company... At Historic Flooring, we don't carry an inventory of "flooring". We have 7 acres of reclaimed and old growth wood. We custom create each floor AFTER we talk to you. We want to know exactly what you want your flooring to look like. There are so many variables and possibilities...it's not just a matter of choosing a species. Do you want light or dark, smooth or rustic, knots or no knots, wide or narrow? We want to talk to you, send you photos, face-time with you, help you develop your vision. Once everything is decided, we hand select the wood that will then be milled especially for your project. We are ALWAYS in the mood to talk about wood :) Please call us with your ideas!

Wide Plank Antique Oak

This gorgeous wide plank antique Oak is our most re-quested floor! With dramatic widths ranging from 6 to 12 inches (up to 18 inches in some cases!), you can easi-ly bring an old-world charm into your home. This product comes to you completely pre-finished and ready to install. We start by hand sanding the surface, beveling the edg-es ever so slightly, and being careful to preserve the historical integrity of the planks. Typically, about 80% of your flooring will be "Smooth" with the remaining 20% having a slight texture from the original saw kerfs. This material will also have nail holes, knots, and checks which only adds to the unique character. Next, we apply Waterlox, a tung oil based sealant with or without stain added. Finally, 3 coats of Vermont Polywhey finish are added with a hand buffing be-tween coats. The result is a luxurious satiny finish that you can only get from Historic Flooring!

Old Growth White Oak

When it comes to wood floors, White Oak is truly an American Tradition. Our Old Growth variety offers the same classic beauty, strength and durability as our re-claimed Oak minus the nail holes and other imperfec-tions common to reclaimed wood. This makes our Old Growth White Oak the perfect choice for those desiring a cleaner look.

Species: Old Growth White Oak Millwork: Tongue & Groove Thickness: 3/4" Width: Various; Range of 3.5” - 7.5” (Wide Plank option 7.5" - 12") Length: Various; Range of 3’ - 12' Finish: Unfinished Standard Width - $7.99 sq. ft. Wide Plank - $8.99 sq. ft.

French Cream Flooring

Our craftsmen have perfected the 6 step process that produces the light and creamy patina of this dynamic flooring. They hand rub the planks with a combination of food grade oils and other solutions until they achieve a splendid creamy white patina. Next, they reveal just a touch of the wood's natural beauty. The floor pic-tured has approximately 20% revealed. Finally, our signature 3 coat Vermont Poly-Whey finish is ap-plied. Each coat is hand applied and, of course, hand-buffed between coats. The result is this exquisite floor-ing with the satiny soft finish that you can only get from Historic Flooring! Pricing for this product includes all pre-finishing.

Carolina Hickory

Our beautifully distinctive Carolina Hickory hardwood is one of the strongest and most durable wood species in our inventory. The naturally exotic-looking patina is produced by the contrast of light sapwood alongside the much darker heartwood, which can range from pale tan to warm reddish brown. Known for its high density and flexible durability, Carolina Hickory is a top choice for flooring in kitchens, playrooms, and other high traf-fic areas.

American Black Walnut

Black Walnut was sought after by our forefathers for its strength, durability, and beauty. Its warm, deep brown/black patina finishes beautifully, and this "finest wood in the world" is incredibly easy to work with. This wood adds a feeling of strength and rich-ness to a room when used as flooring, as well as being a lovely choice for paneling or wainscoting. This is a per-fect choice for an executive suite or home office! Match this royal-style flooring with Black Walnut baseboards and molding. Made from "old growth" timbers, this wood really is better with age! The characteristics of this gorgeous old wood are impossible to recreate using “new” wood products. I am always in the mood to talk about wood! Call me any time, and let's chat about your ideas! 423-676-4220

Old Growth Eastern White Pine

This gorgeous Old Growth Eastern White Pine hard-wood adds instant beauty and charm to a room. East-ern White Pine is characterized by its simple grains, subtle knots and wonderful durability. Because of its growth in colder climates, the wood has a much tighter grain than many species, and produces a vertical growth and dense heartwood pattern. This wood is tra-ditionally known for its warmth and character. Wheth-er you choose to stain this beautiful wood or leave it natural, Eastern White Pine will perfectly match your design needs; it is equally as stunning in a rustic and antique decor as it is in a clean and modern style. Eastern White Pine is a wonderful candidate for a vari-ety of stains; the wood's naturally light color is like a blank canvas for your tinting and staining specifica-tions. Thinking of taking the "do-it-yourself" installa-tion route? This is a great choice for you! The length and width of each plank make it easy and quick to lay this flooring yourself...!

Put it to use for your flooring, ceiling, wainscoting, or wall paneling needs -- you're sure to impress yourself and guests with your individual style and tasteful design. We are happy to provide matching specialty pieces as well... for exam-ple, use our Appalachian Pine wood for your stair treads, stair risers, or bull-nose pieces (the rounded overhanging lip of a stair). Reclaimed from old build-ings and structures, this product is proof that some things DO get better with age! The wood's unique stress cracks and original saw marks, along with aging patina (surface color and sheen) are impossible to recre-ate using a “new” flooring product.

Ambrosia “Wormy” Maple

Ambrosia Maple's remarkable patina is a unique alter-native to Classic Maple wood. It has a beautifully creamy patina, filled with deposits that look similar to random water spots. The "blended nature" of Ambrosia Maple often displays mineral blues, greens, and pinks in addition to the natural chocolate brown and gray "streaks." Many refer to this wood as "Wormy" Maple when, in fact, the gray and brown streaking is not caused by worms but by the holes and tunnels created by the ambrosia beetle. As with all of our products, our Ambrosia Maple is cus-tom crafted specific to your project, so give us a call to-day 423-676-4220 and let us know what you have in mind.

Species: Ambrosia Maple Millwork: Tongue & Groove Thickness: 3/4" Width: Various; Range of 3.5” - 7.5” Length: Various; Range of 3’ - 12' Finish: Unfinished $6.99 sq. ft.

"Dino" Blend Flooring

We recently put together this mix of reclaimed and old growth planking for a new customer. It turned out so well, we decided to name it after him! We started with primarily Beech and White American Oak, and riddled it with a small percentage of other selected hardwoods. Notice the Strategic placement of the painted red barn wood planks! Milled "Hit & Miss", with hand drawn edges on each and every board. All of the edges are lightly hand-sanded to create a wonderful rolled bevel. The warm, rich patinas complement both the textured feel of the saw-kerfs and smoother planks to create a product that is TRULY a hand-crafted original. This amazing "worn upon" wide plank flooring is as comfortable to lay on as your grandmother's bed, and comes to you ready to in-stall and finish. Species: Mixed

Reclaimed Wormy Chestnut

American Chestnut wood is extremely rare and limited. We have acquired this wood by carefully reclaiming it from historic barns and buildings, and are proud to of-fer this top-quality and beautiful material. Known for its strength and durability, craftsmen have long valued its tight grain, knotholes and, in this case, worm holes and tracks that helped lead to the extinction of the spe-cies. Its patina, once finished, is a rich combination of golden tones and dark chocolate browns. The surface has magnificent character full of wormholes, cracks and knots.

Species: Wormy Chestnut Millwork: Tongue & Groove Thickness: 3/4" Width: Various; Range of 3.5” - 7.5” Length: Various; Range of 3’ - 12' Finish: Unfinished

"Granny's Store" Flooring

Inspired by "Granny's General Store", this mix of Appa-lachian hardwoods is bursting with character! We use a random mix of visually stunning reclaimed boards, with cracks, nail and knot-holes, and original saw kerfs. We hand peg select boards for strategic placement in highly visible areas (Approximately 10 "specialty" boards per 1000 s.f). Then we hand sand and ever-so-slightly bevel each edge to create one of our most popu-lar floors ever!

Species: Appalachian Mixed Hardwoods Millwork: Pre-sanded; Tongue & Groove Thickness: 3/4" Width: Various; Range of 3.5” - 7.5” Length: Various; Range of 3’ - 12' Finish: Unfinished $7.99 sq. ft.

End Grain Cobblestone

(Wood Block) Flooring

Hand crafted from the often overlooked ends of the beams, this remarkable End Grain Cobblestone (a.k.a. "Wood Block") flooring will make you the envy of all of your guests. We do a double sided sanding procedure and finish each piece by hand, leaving a subtle micro bevel on the edges. The result is an impressive grain pattern that you don't see every day. Great for entry-ways, foyers, or a whole room...once you have this unique flooring installed, you will surely be the talk of the town! Classic Mix Oak

This beautiful Reclaimed Classic Oak Mix flooring adds a distinctive element of character and class to any room. Whether your decor is antique and rustic or modern and minimal, this floor brings out the best in your design. The wood's unique stress cracks and origi-nal saw marks, along with aging patina (surface color and sheen) are impossible to recreate using a new floor-ing product. This particular flooring is a mixture of three woods - primarily White American Oak (approx. 75%), with a balance of Red American Oak, then just a dash of Wormy Chestnut. The reddish orange tones of red oak complement the gold and light brown hues of the white oak, making this floor a classic choice. Left unstained, this delightful mix of reclaimed wood has a broad range of colors which adds unique charm to the floors. Old Growth Red Oak

Historic Flooring's Red Oak is character rich and full of solid dark knots with a fair amount of wormholes. Red Oak is a strong, sturdy wood that resists wear and tear. The reddish orange patina is a perfect complement to the golden browns found in other wood patinas. The coarse grain and porous nature allows our Red Oak to take stain very well. Ask us about the wormy version of Red Oak that has all the same traits as classic Red Oak with 80% wormholes.
