ORIENTATION TO 4TH GRADE It is hard to believe that we are already preparing for the 2012-2013 school year. New this year, Lumen Christi will be offering an orientation for parents of incoming fourth graders on Tuesday, April 24th from 6:00 – 6:30 pm at the Mequon Campus. This event is designed to answer questions, provide information, meet the fourth grade teachers and tour the campus so you can prepare your child for a smooth transition. Please mark your calendar! BOX TOP COLLECTION – ONE MORE DAY!! Please bring your (trimmed, non-expired) box tops to the classrooms tomorrow for collection. There will be an out of uniform day if we meet our goal of $500. Also, if you're planning on doing any online shopping, please remember you can earn cash for Lumen Christi when you shop at over 150 Box Tops Marketplace retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Nordstrom, and Lands' End, to name just a few. 8TH GRADE GRADUATION DVD PICTURES NEEDED Please submit any pictures you have of the current 8th Grade Class reflecting on their journey through Lumen Christi from K4-8th grade. Lent 2012 Lent is a time to reflect on who we are and how we can become a better person in God’s eyes. During this Season of Lent the Lumen Christi students will focus on five of the virtues. Through stories and class discussion we want the children to practice, recognize, and put to use these traits. The virtues for each week are: Green: Faith February 22nd-March 2nd Purple: Friendship March 5th-March 9th Blue: Honesty March 12th-16th Yellow: Self-discipline March 19th- 23rd Red: Respect March 26th- April 5th To develop these virtues there will be an all school paper gumball machine displayed outside each school office. When a child demonstrates a behavior aligned to the virtues, he/she will earn a gumball to add to this machine. We hope students take pride as they watch the gumball machine fill up. Thank you for supporting this at home. The Lenten Committee

School Council Update

In the spirit of open and brief communication, we’re going to highlight what each of the sub-committees is working on these days. Watch for

these updates in the Thursday Folder over the next few weeks.

February 16, 2012

Spotlight on … Communications Sub-Committee

Hey, this was our idea … so we get to go first!

In January, the second “School Forum” was held. Our group facilitated getting the session scheduled and the agenda set. We’re also introducing a new 4th grader orientation session for parents this year, and we’re working with the Athletic Director to conduct an athletics program orientation.

We’ve identified some areas of improvement for the school website to make it easier to get to the information we need as parents. We’ve also started to identify where communication procedures could be improved in the School Handbook and School Council by-laws.

We are planning a survey to get feedback from a wider audience. But don’t wait for that if you have input! Contact Kim Althaus at [email protected] if you’d like to join us.

What’s new!

You’ve heard about “the sub-

committees” of School Council and now you can learn more about who

is on each sub-committee and what

are their goals for this year.

Our next School Council meeting is March 8th at 6:30PM.

All are welcome!

Go to the School Council page on

the school website and select the

specific sub-committee from the left-hand pane
