DJEMAA EL FNA SQUARELocated in the heart of the Medina, Djemaa el Fna Square is the geographical, cultural and social center of Marrakech.It is dominated by the minaret of the Koutoubia mosque. This legendary site attracts millions of visitors who come attendthe shows run by the famous snake charmers, storytellers, monkey trainers, popular actors, musicians and other artists...Djemaa el Fna was recognized and declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2001.

KOUTOUBIA MOSQUEThis religious building built in the twelfth century is representative of the architectural art of the Almohads. Its name comes from the fact that it was located in the souk of the merchants of manuscripts. Built in 1158, the Koutoubia mosque, which is 77m high up, still, dominates the city today and this is one of the largest mosques in Africa.

MADRASSA BEN YOUSSEFThis Koranic school built in 1570 by the Saadian is a gem of Moorish architecture . The name Ben Youssef comes from the Almoravid sultan Ali Ben Youssef. Madrasa was during more than four centuries a shelter for students thirst for knowledge in various sciences, especially theology. It had 132 rooms for non- students from Marrakech and could accommodate up to 900 students.

TOMBS SAADIENSThe mausoleum houses the body of a sixty Saadian , including Al - Mansour, his successors and his family.This mausoleum is a fine example of Moorish decorative art. They were not discovered until 1917 .

EL BAHIA PALACEThe Bahia Palace, located in the Medina, is a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture which dates back to the late nineteenth century. Like most Arab-Andalusian palaces, it contains beautiful gardens and lovely patios, and has 150 lavishly decorated rooms.

MAJORELLE GARDENThe Majorelle Garden is a botanical garden of the French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962) established in 1931 and owned by Pierre Bergé since 1980. After Yves Saint Laurent passed away in 2008, his ashes were scattered in the garden. Majorelle Garden is home to the Berber museum where the personal collection of Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent is presented to the public.

MENARA GARDENSFitted under the Almohad dynasty, the Menara garden is a large garden filled with olive trees. It is a very peaceful place, away from the bustle of the city. At the heart of the garden, a large pool at the base of a lodge serves as a reservoir of water to irrigate crops.It is therefore an ideal place for walks.

ESSAOUIRA (175KM)8:00 am : Departure by 4x4 accompanied by a guide to Essaouira. You will go through landscapes of plains filled with trees and shrubs, including Argan trees, and you may be lucky enough to see the goats perched on the trees.Visit of the “Val d’Argan” site, an exceptional vineyard planted on 50 acres with many varieties of imported French wine to provide for the local market. Arrival in Essaouira around 12:30 pm, lunch * at a partner restaurant, with a panoramic terrace.2:00 pm : Visit of the Medina.

Advice : You can stop for tea at “L’heure Bleue”, the Palace Hotel which became «Relais et Châteaux».On the way back you can stop at local homes to see a woman make argan oil.



AGADIR (260KM)- 08:00 am : Departure from Marrakech to Agadir with a driver-guide.- 11:00 am : Arrival in Agadir. Visit of the great port of Morocco.- 1:30 pm : Lunch at a restaurant near the port.- 2:30 pm : Walk on the beach with possibility of windsurfing or Camel rides.- 4:30 pm : Return to Marrakech.



OUARZAZATE (240KM)- 7:00 am : Departure from Marrakesh.- Stop on the road of the High Atlas (Tichka) for a great picture of the landscape.- Take the road towards the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.- 1:00 pm : Lunch at the Kasbah of Taourirt.- 2:30 pm : Visit of the major film studios.- 4:30 pm : Back to Marrakech.- 5:30 : A quick stop to taste a cup of Moroccan tea in a Berber village.



OUALIDIA (270KM)Picnic at the beach!Leaving Marrakech in the morning to go to the beach on the west coast (between 2 and 3 hour-drive).Cross the lagoon by boat and enjoy lunch on the beach.

NIGHT IN THE DESERTThe dunes camp of Ch’gaga

Dar Azawad camp is located 60 km from the village of M’hamid for a 2-hour drive by 4x4 in the dunes of Ch’gaga. The best dunes of “southern Morocco”. Far from civilization and extending over 120 km, the erg of Ch’gaga is the best place to discover the desert and the dunes. Authenticity, luxury, comfort delight are on schedule.

The bivouac

Ultimate luxury camps, tents are 25 m2 in a private area with a king size bed, private bath, all with design inspired by Africa. You can either eat around the fire in the dunes or inside a tent restaurant. Finally, while listening to the music of «hommes-bleus» (men dressed in blue) of the desert you will enjoy a glass of Saharawi tea under a sky of «a thousand stars.»
