The novelty of icy sidewalks, freezing temperatures, and inside recess wore off fast as the days continued. What a wonderful sight when the sun came out, the Morning Mile runners were back on the field, and recess was outside once again.Michelle Hernandez President Jessica Jordan VP 1 Education/Reflections Kyle Embry VP 2 - Programs Melanie Leaumont VP 3 Budget/Fundraising Chad HandleySomething else that is back again is the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or the STAAR test. This test will be administered to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in April. The test is lengthy, has time limits, and has strict rules for the teachers and students to follow, so it is very different from a normal school day. For these reasons, we recently administered a practice test. Being familiar with the expectations should provide each student additional confidence and skills so they have the optimal testing environment on STAAR testing days. If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade child, please be looking for the results of the practice exam to be shared with you soon.If you have a child in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade, please be aware that during STAAR testing our campus will experience a slightly different schedule. Our lunch times, PE, Art, and Music rotations may be switched to accommodate the students testing. Please watch for information as the dates near. We appreciate your support and flexibility during these special testing days.VP 4 - Publicity Sincerely, Vacant VP 5 Council DelegateDr. Sharon Heier Proud Principal of Timber Creek ElementaryLauren Warden VP 6 - Membership Ashleigh HandleySTAAR Testing Dates: April 15th Grade MathSecretary April 2 Janelle Embry Treasurer Lyndsay Roome ParliamentarianTiger Tales Publication [email protected] Grade Writing Day 14th Grade Writing Day 2 5th Grade ReadingApril 22 3rd and 4th Grade Math April 23 3rd and 4th Grade Reading 5th Grade Science 3. MRS MACE Our first Texas Lifetime Member award for this year is being awarded to a member who been involved in PTA for a really long time. While teaching our children during the day, she has always found time to volunteer at Fall Festival and contribute to the bake off amongst other PTA adventures. She graduated from the University of North Texas, has her Masters Degree and has taught education for 42 years. Of which the last 23 have been here at Timber Creek. During her 23 years at Timber Creek she taught 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and the last 10 years as part of our wonderful special education department. She has dedicated herself to help the children of Timber Creek reach their potential in the classroom, even the stubborn ones. She is dedicated, hardworking, highly efficient and organized. It is because of these qualities that we are proud to present Linda Mace with the TX Lifetime MemberANGELA HOLCOMB Our final Texas Lifetime Member award for this year is being awarded to a member who been involved in PTA for over 7 years, 6 of them as a Board Member. She was a military brat, living in Greece and Germany, where she graduated high school. She attended Texas A&M and graduated with a Biomedical Engineering Degree. After marrying her husband, Chris, they moved to Reno where their daughter, Katie, was born. The pull of Texas was too great so they relocated back and settled in Flower Mound. Joshua was born in 09. Her dedication to school and the PTA makes this an honor to bestow. She is currently serving on the Lamar MS board as the treasurer and is serving on the Timber Creek Board as the book fair chair. Her dedication to the Timber Creek Elementary family amplified by the fact that she doesnt even have a child that attends here currently! She is dedicated, hardworking and has a kind and giving heart. It is because of these qualities that we are proud to present Angela Holcomb with the TX Lifetime Member 4. Be Your Kids Biggest Fan!!!
