who we are Trans Adriatic PipelinePre-Commissioning Project
Techfem is an independent engineering and construction services firm.
The strong attitude to problem solving made us highly experienced in managing complex engineering issues.
The technological innovation allows us to operate in several areas of energy and oil & gasfield: upstream, midstream and downstream.

what isTAP?
Trans Adriatic Pipeline, also known as TAP, is a gaspipeline transmission system with a length of approx.900 km, connecting the Greek-Turkish border and Italyacross Greece and Albania, allowing the transportation ofnatural gas from the Caspian sea.
what is TAP? Trans Adriatic PipelinePre-Commissioning Project
The infrastructure features a 36” diameterpipeline in the offshore and Italian sections and a 48” diameter in the onshore sections in Greeceand Albania.

main constraints
IPLOCA webinar, 11th February 2021
noise
receptors at distance lower than 100m
impossibility to request the noise derogation due to the social impact
Impossibility to use large footprint noise barriers supports and to perform holes on the ground
limitations
noise
simulations by using the specific SoundPlan software
reduction of booster compressors noise emission from 125 dB up to 110 dB
mitigation with 700 linear meters of environmentalfriendly noise barriers with height 4 meters tailored for the Project, designed, certified and built by Techfem
innovative temporary flat supports, avoiding footprint waste
solutions
air pollutionprevention
use of new generation engines Stage IV and Stage V to mitigate pollution (diesel consumption of approx. 80.000 litres per day during dewatering)
exhausts vent stack at 4 meters above soil
detailed simulations with CALPUFF View software
dust suppression in dry and windy days
compresseddry air
temperaturelimitations
maximum allowablecompressed dry air temperature into the pipeline: 50°C
operations in Southern Italy in hot months (ambient air temperature up to 35°C)
noise barriers walls 4 meters height
Air at high pressure -> high temperature
compresseddry air
temperaturesolutions
simulations by using the OpenFoam software
conveying of diesel enginecooling air maximumallowable compressed dry air upward above noise barriers
extra air coolers installed atbooster compressorsdischarge line
continuous monitoring and recording of air temperature temperature injected into the pipeline
air temperature injectedresulted always below 45°C
soil pollutionprevention
4.700 m² of impermeabilised areas
11 lifting pumps and 500mof network to collect rainwater
200m³ of available volume to collect rainwater during rainfalls
system desgned on last 40-years rainfalls capable to manage approx 3.000 m³ of potantially polluted rainwater estimeed to be colleted and disposed according to Italian law
