General Information for Summer Advantage 2018 MISSION

Trinity Christian School is a Christ-centered classical school committed to partnering with parents to engage the minds

and transform the lives of students for the glory of God.

We believe students should be actively engaged and find joy in the process of learning. Trinity Christian School’s

(TCS) Summer Advantage program is designed to provide students K-12 with an opportunity to review and enrich

their knowledge in an environment that stimulates creativity and a love for learning.

We believe TCS must be fully committed to excellence in education by fidelity to Biblical Truth. TCS is unbending in

its dedication to provide the very best educational instruction for students entrusted to its care. Its administration,

summer school faculty, support staff, and curriculum adhere to the precepts and principles of the Holy Scriptures,

God’s inspired Word.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Students entering Kindergarten to 12th grade in 2018 are eligible to apply for Summer Advantage.

REGISTRATION

Trinity students who are returning to TCS in the fall are given priority registration until March 31. April 1,

registration will open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis.

Summer Financial Policies may be found on our website: www.TCSKailua.net> Academics> Summer Programs.

All classes are held on our Mauka Campus, located at 875 Auloa Road. Summer School workshops and Summer Fun have a maximum enrollment. Early registration is highly recommended since most classes reach maximum enrollment. For current TCS families, email as attachment ( [email protected] ), drop off to either campus office, or mail registration form to:

PERMISSION FOR USE OF LIKENESS

Photographs, slides, film, video, digital photos and other visuals of students, faculty, staff and administration are

taken on campus of Summer Advantage activities. Some of these are subsequently used by the school in publications,

promotional materials, and electronic media. By enrolling in the Summer Advantage program, students and parents

give permission for their likenesses to be used in this manner.

REGISTRATION AND TUITION DEADLINES

March 1, 2018—Registration opens for returning and incoming TCS students. A $100 non-refundable, non-

transferable deposit will be deducted via FACTS within one week of receipt of application. This will reserve a spot

for your student. The deposit will be credited towards the total tuition.

April 1, 2018—Registration opens to the general public. $100 non-refundable, non-transferable cash or check

deposit is due at time of registration. The deposit will be credited towards the total tuition.

May 1, 2018—First half of tuition due. Trinity families will have tuition deducted via FACTS. For non-TCS families,

50% of payment must be received in the Mauka Campus office. If payment is not received, your student’s space may

be relinquished to the next student on the waitlist.

May 15, 2018—Last day for refunds on tuition.

May 15 to Memorial Day 2018 —Late Registration (if space is available) will be assessed a Late Fee of $25. Tuition

for TCS families will be made in full through FACTS on June 1. For non-TCS families, full tuition must be paid with

registration. No late registrations will be accepted after Memorial Day.

June 1, 2018—Balance of tuition due. Trinity families will have tuition deducted via FACTS. For non-TCS families,

final balance of tuition must be received in the Mauka Campus office. If tuition is not paid in full, your student will be

prevented from attending class until payment is received.

CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION

A confirmation of registration email will be sent to the email address on record. If no email address is provided,

registration cannot be confirmed. Confirmation will not be mailed to the home address. If we are unable to register

a student in the requested class due to class size limitation, the student will be enrolled in the other grade level

course, if offered, and you will be notified of the change by email.

WITHDRAWAL / REFUNDS / CHANGES

The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. No tuition refunds will be given after May 15, 2018. Notification

of withdrawal or program changes needs to be submitted with the Summer Program Change Form only. Please use

the form on our website at: www.TCSKailua.net> Academics> Summer Programs. One program change will be

accepted at no cost; subsequent changes will result in a $25 change fee. Requests for changes will not be accepted

over the phone or email.

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES

Trinity Christian School reserves the right to cancel any class if there is insufficient enrollment. In the event of a class

cancellation by the school, the student will be enrolled in the other grade level course, if offered and you will be

notified of the class change. If this class is not acceptable to you, notify the school immediately and the deposit and

tuition will be refunded.

The following programs are available for students who are enrolled in a morning workshop. Additional cost for these

programs will be added to your student’s tuition. For TCS families, payment will be made through FACTS; for non-

TCS families, charges will be included with overall payments.

Kindergarten students must be five by June 30, 2018.

Kindergarten applicants with no prior preschool experience must provide the student’s immunization and health

records (forms are available in our office) and original birth certificate (we will copy and return to you). These forms

should be brought into the TCS Mauka Campus Office at 875 Auloa Road with the Registration Form and deposit. Your

student will not be allowed to attend without this documentation on file per Hawaii State regulations.

Phonics and Grammar Your student will learn practical, easy, and fun ways to improve grammar, speech, reading, handwriting, and

Fun with Fables This workshop will take your child through the writing process by exploring different versions of classic fairy

tales and fables. Students will have the opportunity to build stories from a basic structure, giving students a

children and warriors alike would use to help their bodies and minds stay fit. We will also explore the games

and activities of a newer time with a “local kine” flare. Some of these experiences will include poi balls, Chinese

Latin for Secondary Prepare your student for Latin classes at Trinity! This 4-hour class is designed both for beginning and advanced

Latin students. By the end of two weeks, students with no previous Latin experience will be able to identify the

basics of Latin grammar and syntax and to translate short Latin stories. Students who have studied Latin before

will gain a deeper comprehension of the concepts and a greater confidence with translation. The summer class

allows students to develop their knowledge of Latin through a high level of individual teacher attention and fun

games that prepare them for the upcoming year. Highly recommended for incoming seventh and eighth graders.

Landmarks of Science Fiction and Fantasy Among the great stories that have been told, many of the most insightful are set in either the magical worlds of

fantasy or the fascinating futures of science fiction. Great storytellers use these unfamiliar settings to stir our

imaginations and reveal our true hearts. In this course, we will read a few of the best works from each of these

genres—short stories and novellas from well-respected authors. We will discuss the insights that are at the heart

of these stories and what makes them resonate with generation after generation of readers. In the end, students

Secondary Study Skills Secondary Study Skills is a class that aims to give you the ability to succeed at Trinity. Outside of the standard

the way they do. If you want to succeed in your schoolwork and get a small glimpse of what goes on “behind the

Internet Footprint Internet Footprints looks at what happens to you when you’re on the internet. This class will help you make

informed decisions about what you should post or “Like” and how these small things can change your life in big
