Teacher Tuesdays - Summer 2019 Free Admission for Teachers on Tuesdays! Calling all teachers! The Morton Arboretum invites you to explore our 1700 acre classroom this summer. Enjoy a day wandering our trails, exploring our Library, visiting our exhibits and discovering the resources available to you as a teacher. Teachers can enjoy free admission with a valid school ID on any Tuesday from June- September 2019. Possible Visit Highlights: Sterling Morton Library- The Sterling Morton Library provides significant resources of scientific, artistic, and historical value in support of the Arboretum’s mission. Plant Clinic- Have tree and plant questions? Get expert help from the Arboretum's Plant Clinic . Find the Plant Clinic office across the courtyard from the Visitor Center. The Children’s Garden- Splash through secret streams, climb colossal acorns, and slide down giant tree roots all day long. Explore, learn, and play among trees and the natural world (Appropriate for students grades PreK- 3rd grade) Take a Hike - Walk one of our Self-Guided Programs Self-Guided Tours: Explore the routes and trails that you could take with your student’s on a self- guided tour of the Arboretum. Below are some suggested itineraries that take up to approximately 90 minutes. o East Side: Starting at parking lot #8 walk the “Joined Loops 3 & 4 Trail” to Big Rock Visitor Station. Continue on the "Woodland Trail" to Big Rock. For a longer experience, walk the long way around the “Heritage Trail” back to the Big Rock Visitor’s Station. (Click here to see a map of the Arboretum's east side.) o West Side: Starting at the Prairie Visitor Station (parking lot #25) walk the Prairie Trail loop and go to parking lot #30. For a longer experience, walk to the nearby Millennium Oak. o Tree ID Backpack Path: Available as a self-guided program for student grades 6- 12, this path begins at the trail head of Joy Path, identifying over 18 different trees as you trace through daffodil glade and then around Lake Marmo. o Joy Path Backpack Path: Available as a self-guided program for student grades 3- 12, this path begins at the trail head for Joy Path, and stops to identify historical content and relevant trees along the path. o If you want to walk the trail with one of our self-guided backpacks, please contact Megan Kuhl-Horbin (mkuhl- horbin@mortonarb. org ) prior to your visit.

Calling all teachers! The Morton Arboretum invites you to explore our 1700 acre classroom this summer. Enjoy a day wandering our trails, exploring our Library, visiting our exhibits and discovering the resources available to you as a teacher. Teachers can enjoy free admission with a valid school ID on any Tuesday from June-September 2019.

Free Admission details: Summer Tuesdays from June

through September. Valid for teachers of grades PreK

throughout college level professors. Valid for pre-service teachers with a

valid ISTA, NEA or NSTA card. Must present a 2018-2019 Teacher

ID (or paystub) at the gatehouse. Free admission is only valid for

teachers and does not include additional guests or children.

Teachers will receive information about programs and opportunities available for educators.
