* Understand the concept of malnutrition among adolescents today.

Identify factors associated with deficiency and / or excess nutritional status of adolescents (malnutrition, normal nutrition, obesity and overweight), both dietary and physical activity.

*Introduction:Malnutrition is not only a health problem, it is also an economic, social problem, growth and security.

Malnutrition impairs the proper learning of children and young people, making survivors with poor quality of life.

Currently within the National Plan for Good Living (two thousand and thirteen), emphasis is placed on improving the quality of life of the population especially the most vulnerable, in this case children in stage of schooling, so it is essential to promote food education parent families and teachers who are aware of the need for good nutrition for further physical and intellectual development

TYPES OF MALNUTRITIONMILD MALNUTRITION: The most adolescents suffer this alone is restricted to the decrease in body size, but also affects the development and promotes the frequency and severity of disease.

Moderate malnutrition: It is when the nutrient supply is adequate, but there are conditions that prevent or hinder the use of food by various mechanisms, impaired swallowing, difficulty in absorption, increased use or disposal, increased requirements , etc.

Serious or severe malnutrition: It is when the adequate intake of essential nutrients causes associated with malnutrition ensure secondarily. Adolescents who have this type of malnutrition, more than inadequate supply of essential nutrients, have pulmonary tuberculosis and other chronic infections or hinder the intestinal absorption.

CAUSES

According to the World Health Organization, the iron deficiency anemia is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in the world and mainly affects women.
