Shortly before dawn on 27th December 2012 an emergency ambulance arrives at the Leeds General Infirmary, England, carrying an unmarked box. Inside is a donor hand that will transform someone's life forever.

For almost two years, My New Hand had exclusive access to the surgeons planning to undertake the UK's first ever hand transplant. During that time candidates came forward from all over the UK and beyond, including a hairdresser, an IT consultant, a former pub landlord, a DJ and a retired housewife - all of them had lost the use of at least one of their hands. Consequently, the loss of a limb has dramatically affected all their lives. However the most frustrating thing is not being able to do everyday tasks.

It's the first time a documentary team has had access to the search for suitable recipients - right through to seeing the successful patient back at home learning to live with a ‘new’ hand. Before proceeding, the doctors must be sure the candidates are physically and psychologically prepared. Can they mentally cope with having someone else's hand attached to their own? What colour hand would they be willing to accept? Do the side effects outweigh the opportunity?

From the build-up to surgery through to its conclusion, My New Hand follows Professor Simon Kay and his surgical team during the complex eight-hour operation which involved attaching a donor hand with metal plates to the arm of the recipient. Once the attachment is completed, the team must painstakingly join nerves, tendons and blood vessels together to make the hand function again.

In Albuquerque, Walt confidently celebrates his 51st birthday by getting new cars for himself and Walt, Jr. And though Skyler is concerned about raising two children in the shadow of a drug business, Walt insists that their family is safer than ever.

Looking for love can be tricky, but some find it harder than others. Add disability to the equation and it can sometimes seem almost impossible. This uplifting series follows the journeys of several extraordinary singletons as they enter the dating circuit in pursuit of love.

Heather has severe OCD. Gareth has brittle bones and has broken his legs over 150 times. Matthew has autism. Can the three of them find partners? Thirty-eight-year-old Heather's OCD means she cannot have any physical contact due to her fear of contamination by people's germs and hasn't invited anyone into her home for years. Heather also has Asperger's, making things such as eye contact very hard for her. Heather goes on her first date in three years, with Peter. Twenty-eight-year-old Gareth has osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) which makes his bones extremely brittle. He has broken his legs more than 150 times in his life, and uses a wheelchair. “I just don't want to die a 40-year-old virgin,” he says.

Gareth takes Beth on a date to a seafront restaurant, but will they hit it off? Matthew is 20 years old and is a student at a college in Milton Keynes. He is keen on karate and indie music. Despite a busy and fulfilling life, Matthew has autism and has never had a girlfriend. For his first ever date, Matthew takes Nicola from St Albans, who also has autism, to an Indian restaurant. Will he be able to get over the fact that she is a Peter Andre fan?

Desperately Hungry Housewives


Anorexia and bulimia were once more commonly associated with teenage girls but are now on the increase among older women. This documentary goes into the seemingly perfect world of four housewives who are struggling with the fallout from their eating disorders. They may seem to have it all with their nice houses, perfect children and middle class lives, but behind the wisteria, they are having a constant battle with their food and eating. Jane in her early fifties now has the bone density of a 92 year old; 36-year-old Zoe has turned to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to reclaim her life from anorexia; bubbly Tracey is bulimic and spends her nights binging and vomiting in secret from her children; and young mum Georgia, who once weighed as low as 30kg, tries hard to lose her baby weight. But will her obsession with weight see her falling back into the anorexic danger zone?

Based on the children's picture book written by Julia Donaldson and from the producers of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, Room On The Broom follows a kind witch who invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat.

However the broom cannot hold them all and breaks, sending the animals tumbling into a muddy bog and the witch flying on the half broomstick into the clouds.

In the clouds the witch hears a terrifying roar and is chased through the sky by a dragon. The gang comes to the rescue and saves the witch from the fearsome dragon, and in gratitude she rewards them with a magnificent new broom which has room for everyone.

Room On The Broom features the voices of Gillian Anderson (Witch), Rob Brydon (Cat), Martin Clunes (Dog), Sally Hawkins (Bird), Simon Pegg (Narrator), Timothy Spall (Dragon) and David Williams (Frog).

Wanna Be Starting Something is the first round where Noel's team have to guess how N-Dubz rapper Dappy recently got into trouble. While Phil's team have to guess how a portaloo landed Bob Dylan in trouble. In the Intro round, Peter Jones shows that he perhaps knows more about music than Noel gives him credit for. While the Identity Parade goes pear shaped, when David / Shakira take over the segment, Phil's team are trying to pick out the guitarist from Iron Maiden.

A fresh, quirky and hilarious documentary set in the canine world of grooming salons, dog crèches and vets.

Episode 2 continues to follow the lives of trainer Richard Curtis, radio hosts Jo Good and Anna Webb as they judge a fancy dress competition for bulldogs and Jacob and Julian at Purple Bone as they set up a photo shoot to promote dog hair shampoo.

We also meet Louise Harris in Essex who is planning on having the biggest doggie wedding Britain has ever seen; Maureen Rolls, an animal communicator who today communicates to a group of delinquent chihuahuas, and Roger Wilshire who not only runs a dog crèche with his wife but is also writing a book on parks from the perspective of his dog. Danny Lines, a tough East End security guard also appears with his sidekick Doc Von Zeiterland, a camp Belgian Malanois, as they patrol a ‘5 a side’ football match. And, professional dog walker Simon Walker lets us know his thoughts on various topics.
