GREEN COUNTY MISSION TRIP 2015 The Consolata Missionary Sisters extend a huge thank you to the parishioners who participated in the Greene County Mission Trip for 2015. Many volunteers traveled to our area to make essential home repairs for those in need. Special thanks are due to Robert Markham for his leadership of the project. It was such a blessing to have the support of so many volunteers from your parish working together to make repairs, clean, paint and provide needed improvements to these homes. Many thanks to Fr. Ray Dunmyer, Fr. Pat Cullen, and Fr. Joe Culotta, who traveled to Eutaw for the special celebration of Our Lady of Consolata mass. We are also very grateful for all those who delivered and supplied lunches for the volunteers. Thank you for an amazing week of putting your “faith in action” to improve the lives of families in need in our area! Blessings and peace, Sr. Josephine and Sr. Maria Consolata Missionary Apostolate

10th Annual Greene County Mission 2015 Saint Mark the Evangelist Summary Saint Mark Parish had primary responsibility for repairs on two homes this year. On Saturday, we had the Creel, Rall, and Elie families, as well as Alain Gallet and Stephen Stack conduct a massive cleanup of the grounds and interior of the trailer, plus an under skirting around the entire trailer. The work provided major enhancement to the appearance of the trailer. We also wired the home for an additional home air conditioner that was greatly needed in this heat. The second project was the demolition of a bath area and replacement and rebuilding of the floors, walls, and bath items. John Elkourie is to be commended for his endurance of the challenging task and the frustration of making plumbing work on 60 year old trailers. Other Saint Mark folks to thank are Tom Membrino, Chris Keawczyk, Vince Lovoy, and Corbin Ellard, whom worked on a variety of projects including decks, door replacements, and other tasks. On Tuesday, we enjoyed the traditional Saint Mark Youth blitz of 40 folks whom were led by Daniel Henninger. The Youth and parents painted the entire exterior of a home and under skirted two trailers. Well done, Youth! The Consolata Sisters were very pleased with our service to provide glimmers of hope to the needy folks who endure harsh living conditions in Greene County, Alabama. In addition, we enjoyed 280 great lunches during the week thanks to the leadership of Sarah Baydala. Supporting these meals were the following Saint Mark groups who provided the daily lunches: St. Vincent De Paul Society, First Light Ministry, Bereavement Ministry, and Saint Mark’s Choir. Lastly, many thanks to Fr. Joe Culotta, Fr. Ray Dummyer, and Fr. Patrick Cullen, celebrated a special Mass on Wednesday for the Lady of Consolata. After 10 years, based on the limited amount of time I spend in Greene County, I am still in shock at how fortunate we are to live in North Shelby County. Hopefully, others will share that experience in the coming years. Just ask any of the 2015 participants for more details. Respectfully Submitted Robert F. Markham
