HEAD COACH JOHN SAVAGERecord at UCLA141-150 (Five seasons)

Overall Record229-234-1 (Eight seasons)

In five seasons as head coach, John Savage has established UCLA as a perennial national contender. In 2008, he became UCLA’s first head baseball coach to lead the program to three consecutive postseasons. In June 2006, the Bruins played in the Malibu Regional. UCLA swept

the 2007 Long Beach Regional before advancing to the Super Regional at Cal State Fullerton, UCLA’s first Super Regional appearance since 2000. In 2008, the Bruins advanced to the Regional Final at Cal State Fullerton. Savage has also made significant strides on the recruiting trail, helping UCLA land four recruiting classes ranked in the top-13 by Baseball America. In the fall of 2005, Savage’s first recruiting class at UCLA was ranked No. 5 in the nation by Baseball America. His second recruiting class was ranked No. 13, and has last two classes have been ranked No. 7, nationally, by Baseball America.Aside from featuring winning teams, outstanding recruiting classes, and consistently challenging schedules, Savage has made significant improvements to Jackie Robinson Stadium. Under Savage’s guidance, the ballpark now features a 10,500-square foot hitting facility, a new grass field surface, a state-of-the-art backstop, the installation of over 1,000 chairback seats and renovated bullpens.
